marcosbessa Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 You compare collars on one promo picture (not even movie capture), are you sure that their collars stay exactly the same through the whole movie? :p As wilson3a10 suggested above, the uniforms are most likely the same, so collars appearance are maybe not unique to each character. This! You guys are definitely the hardest crowd to please... like... EVER! Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 This! You guys are definitely the hardest crowd to please... like... EVER! You know you've done a great job once you manage to please us AFOLs I take it you've designed this set as well? If so, well done, you've somehow managed to top your previous Ecto-1 which was already an excellent model to begin with BTW, you've got a great singing voice Quote
marcosbessa Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Thanks, Lego-Freak! ;) And yes, I did design this model as well! Quote
just2good Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) Thanks, Lego-Freak! ;) And yes, I did design this model as well! And you continue to be my favorite LEGO designer. I love just about all your sets. Edited February 9, 2016 by just2good Quote
badbob001 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Damnit, Did lego mix up the collar flaps wrong on 3 of the characters. http://cdn1-www.comi...busters2016.jpg I think the collar positions will change during the movie: I think it's ok as long as the name tags and accessories (necklaces) match the correct character. OmgItsNitro Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 not a fan of the movie but like the sets! Quote

LEGODalekbuster523 Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 The movie's not out yet. He must have used a TARDIS. Quote
Lord Insanity Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Wow that is really nice looking. I think the designer pulled a Horizon Express and made a Lego set that looks better the the real life object it represents. My 7 year old daughter loves The Real Ghostbusters cartoon. (My fault entirely. My 4 year old son sings the theme song a lot driving my wife crazy too.) The 7 year old saw the picture of the new set and asked: "Are those girl ghostbusters?" I answered yes and she said: "I want that!" So even if the movies is pure garbage at least we are getting an awesome new Lego set. Its just a shame they didn't make the movie a direct sequel. The original movie set up unlimited sequels with potential new Ghostbuster franchises in any city in the world. (That would even explain why there is a new car instead of just using the original.) Just think of the Lego sets that could have resulted in. Quote

Just think of the Lego sets that could have resulted in. Sure, but had it been a sequel, we'd have wanted to see the original characters back, and with Harold Ramis sadly gone and Bill Murray not wanting to return to the role, it would have felt empty. As it is, though, Murray is willing to return to the franchise in a cameo, just not as his original character - so the fact this is a reboot rather than a sequel means we're actually getting more of the original cast back than we would have if it had been a sequel, oddly enough (Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts are all making cameos as well). At any rate, Sony has extensive plans for keeping the franchise alive; there are supposedly multiple movies in the works. If so, TLG could conceivably have this theme run a long time (in which case we might eventually get more sets based on both the original movies and this Paul Feig reboot, as well as future movies and cartoons and whatnot). 8BrickMario Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 The reboot is only such because they didn't think it could work/be accepted if it were included in the older continuity. Quote
Lord Insanity Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 See that doesn't make any sense to me at all. I don't care about random actor cameos. I would be more accepting of the movie if they were in the same universe with some random cameos of the original characters. Give them the role of corporate franchise managers. It was built into the original movie with Bill Murray's line: "The franchise rights alone will make us millions." If the movie studio execs had any sense they would have taken that line and run with it. Personally I am hoping they are secretly doing exactly that and the whole reboot thing was an intentional misdirect. I really want this to be successful but effectively flipping off the original movies seems precisely the wrong way to do that. Either way the Lego sets from Ghostbusters (all versions) have been some of the best ever designed. I hope we get some more. I would really like a brick built Stay-Puft Marshmallow man. I doubt they will make that as an Ideas set but maybe they are working on a version anyway like with the firehouse. Considering a minifig of Walter Peck didn't come in the firehouse that would be a perfect set for him. Who knows what cool things the new movie with have that would be awesome to get "in the brick." P3_Super_Bee Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 The movie's not out yet. Don't have to be out to not be a fan. I'm not a fan of any re-boot. now or in the future. Come up with new ideas. Having said that, I do like the set, and will get the car. I have the Ideas Ecto-1, and not a fan of the original Ghostbusters either. Not into fantasy movies... Quote

But yeah, I get it when people don't like reboots. I still appreciate them, though. I like updates. I'd like to see updates of some old LEGO sets, actually. Either way, it will be nice to have 2 different Ecto-1 interpretations. I've seen a lot of different versions over the years at fan conventions, so it doesn't bother me to see alternate takes. Quote
Fuppylodders Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 While I don't actually care much for the film, that Ecto and the women figs looks amazing! I'll definitely be getting me one of them!! Quote
KlodsBrik Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 This set has just passed onto my must have list for 2016. So many lovely sets this year ! Quote
legonerd54321 Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 I think I figured out what the baddy in the set is based off of.... This thing gives me the creeps Quote
DraikNova Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 It looks weirdly cute to me. But then again, I'm having that reaction to pretty much every monster these days. Quote
8BrickMario Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Wow, that Red Daemon is more hardcore-horror than I thought it'd be. But appropriately, it does feel straight out of an 80's monster movie. Quote
CM4Sci Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) Apparently the villain in the movie is The ghost in the logo. It's called Rowan's Ghost? Would've been a lot cooler to get this guy as a minifigure. Maybe he'll be one of the Dimensions packs. Edited February 15, 2016 by CM4Sci Quote
8BrickMario Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Whoa, that's a cool twist. Props to the film for that one. Quote
