Kez Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I completely agree with you Dalek, but honestly who knows how these big Hollywood movie companies think; also I would find it rather funny if we heard more news regarding the new Ghostbusters film/Lego sets on February 14th, 2016 as that is when the psychic named Elaine said the world would end (it may come true if Lego keep on bringing out more and more sets that I want each year and can't afford due to my empty wallet). K_Tiger Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Can't believe LEGO got the license for this That film will be terrible Agreed, but I'm intrigued by LEGO combining blind bag figures and the B.A.F. concept. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Agreed, but I'm intrigued by LEGO combining blind bag figures and the B.A.F. concept. What now? LEGO isn't doing bling bags for this line. The part about bling bags in the press release is about Mattel. Quote
Kintobor Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I'm all for a Lego line of the new Ghostbusters flick so long as it's got usable pieces and nice mini-figures, and a line chockfull of female figs with the potential for new hair pieces and ghosts sounds awesome, regardless of the movies quality. Alpinemaps Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 How do we know that the reference to Lego in that article is not just about the HQ and the Dimensions sets, but about a new line? The entire article is about the licensing push for the new film. Quote
dmarvin Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Can't believe LEGO got the license for this That film will be terrible Disagree. I pretty much like or love everything Paul Feig has ever done, starting with Freaks & Geeks, which remains one of the greatest television shows ever made. Bridesmaids was an absolute riot and this year's Spy was a hit with fans and critics. Quote
Borex Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 If we get a range of Ghostbuster sets, i can't imagine it will all be gb reboot. It's just like star wars. The old stuff is still too popular. And if it all will be Reboot then at least we will get some awesome ghosts and four female ghostbusters (with new hairmoulds maybe?). Quote
6ix Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 The entire article is about the licensing push for the new film. No, it's not. There is also mentioning of licensing for the classics. Quote

Also, people who think Melissa McCarthy can do only one type of comedy have apparently never seen Gilmore Girls. I'm hopeful and optimistic for this movie. Really cool to see confirmation of at least one more set, and the timing does strongly suggest it'll be for the new movie rather than the old ones. It seems LEGO's Ghostbusters will be like their Marvel, DC, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in that it'll represent different continuities / universes within the overall franchise. I'm guessing it's a bit much to expect a set based on The Real Ghostbusters, of course, but it seems at least not absolutely, completely out of the question... It probably makes the Ghostbusters videogame someone speculated about earlier more likely also, perhaps released to tie in with the reboot's DVD/Bluray release so it doesn't impact the Dimensions level pack. They usually cover three movies. I wonder if next year we might see LEGO Doctor Who, Ghostbusters and Star Wars games? Edited November 7, 2015 by LEGODalekbuster523 Quote
Winter Soldier Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 That's £53.15 in pounds. Reboot Ecto-1? No, a bit to expensive for a reboot version of Ecto-1. Maybe Ecto-2!!! Quote

Why would saying the price is too expensive for an Ecto-1 mean he isn't a fan of the reboot? Not following your logic here. Quote

Elrond Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 (edited) I can't really say I'm surprised, I was expecting that to happen as soon as I saw TLG was making more GB sets for 2016. I'm not too sure getting this license was a wise decision though. Fans of the original movies are not too crazy about this project and I feel like this movie has the potential to be the next big box office bomb and another Lone Ranger for TLG. I can't really say much about the cast or the director as I don't think I've ever watched a single movie in which one of them was involved. Still, it doesn't look very appealing to me based on the pics I've seen and my general experience with reboots. Most likely going to pass on this theme unless they create some very cool ghosts... but then I'll most likely BL them. Dan Aykroyd said it may be funnier than the original. Yeah well he's not going to say the reboot will be an uninspired piece of garbage and a shameless cash-grab now is he? Spielberg also endorsed JW, just like Jim Cameron endorsed the last Terminator movie. That's just called marketing. And well, they're not going to bite the hand that feeds them. We'll never know until we see the full movie. I understand everybody has their opinion. I enjoy criticism but not when you haven't even seen the movie. That's true but we can also agree that reboots and remakes can at best be forgettable but are almost always awful. The only times they can work is when the original movie is pretty old and forgotten (see The Thing or The Fly) or just plain bad (see Dredd), which obviously isn't the case for Ghostbusters. Like people always say: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I also believe this reboot became way too political. Those males vs. females debates had nothing to do with the franchise and it should have stayed that way. Edited November 8, 2015 by Elrond Quote

Not too sure about that, it could go both ways in all honesty. I just know a lot of fans aren't interested in this reboot and many even want to boycott it. They've been asking for a legit sequel for years, which has constantly been presented as a more or less likely possibility until Harold Ramis' passing... and now they get this instead. The disappointment is understandable. That's like asking for a LEGO set as a Christmas present and getting Mega B*** instead. Quote

legonerd54321 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 So, here is my speculation on the sets we might get. Subway scene (Feig talked about this scene a little bit) Hotel scene (Feig also also talked about this) The "new" Ecto (This one is a no brainer) The final battle scene (We all know there's going to be a final battle) And most likely a playhouse version of their HQ That is all of my thoughts Quote
