CM4Sci Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Yeah! Also, it looks like we don't have a box image yet for some reason, and I'm bored, so I guessed on what it could look like. What do you think? Quote
TheGeekMeister Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 The more I look at the pictures, the more it grows on me! I'll definitely get it so it can go alongside the original Ecto-1, and I'm super excited for the new hairpieces! Quote
8BrickMario Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 (edited) That's a great mockup. And I still don't know why, but I love Jillian's hairpiece. No real reason, I just do. Since the full set image didn't show any spare parts, it can be assumed that Holtzmann is one version in the car, another in Dimensions. EDIT: I just realized- why are the car the logo, and the proton packs the same? It's been stated that, in this film, Ghostbusters never happened. Awfully coincidental that this new version would come across the same car, same license plate, same ghost-fighting packs, and same logo. If you're gonna pander, let it make sense. deskp Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 The minifigures images with the strap are 'photoshopped' for some reason they didn't have it physically when they took the images, which might mean that's one getting released later. Quote

Fightingswords Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 The proton pack builds and decorations are new in this set. They come with a black gold bar piece! 2 pieces each, 1 on each side. Need to get a bunch to update my classic ones, dislike the 2x1 wedge for the head rest Quote

Technically, they're different cars (make, model, customization) and different proton packs. Also, it's a reboot—of COURSE it's going to use elements of the original, because that's the POINT of a reboot. And because there is no link between the two, there doesn't have to be any coincidence involved, because a character in one continuity's chance of coming up with an idea is totally independent of the same thing happening in a different continuity. You might as well ask why guys named Bruce Wayne always seem to turn to superheroics, even in stories that don't connect to one another. The answer is because they're telling the same basic story, just with different interpretations. EDIT: Better comparison—why does BBC's Sherlock not know about the original Sherlock Holmes, and why do his adventures mimic the literary character? Isn't it a huge coincidence that there'd be two great detectives who are separated by time? No, it isn't—the Sherlock Holmes stories presumably don't exist in the universe of BBC's modern day adaptation. It can't be a coincidence if the two stories don't coincide. DraikNova Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 (edited) Loving this model. So much more interesting visually than the first, plus it can seat all four. And of course, there's the tr. smoke wings and skeleton torso. Hoping we get more sets based on the reboot than just this and some dimensions packs, even if that only happens next year. Kind of weirded out how many people seem to dislike this reboot for arbitrary reasons. Edited February 5, 2016 by DraikNova Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Chris Hemsworth's head looks off for some reason. Anyways, I'm really impressed with what Lego did with this set. $60 is reasonable when you come to think about it. Three new hair pieces, two new colored head pieces, all Ghostbusters having arm printing on both arms, two new dual molded legs, all new faces, new color for the gargoyles wings, and the ecto is different compared to the other one. You get a lot of new things. Quote
LEGODalekbuster523 Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 No, but a major point for LEGO collectors and this a LEGO nerd site, not a movie review site, mate . I don't see what's so 'major' about it. I couldn't give a **** if the collars don't match up. Quote
x105Black Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 I don't see what's so 'major' about it. I couldn't give a **** if the collars don't match up. Then don't. But don't poop on people that want movie accurate portrayals of the characters, either. Quote
MAB Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 I don't see what's so 'major' about it. I couldn't give a **** if the collars don't match up. Would you care if they had too many stripes on the arms or the GB logo in the wrong place, or no printed glasses if the character wears glasses in the movie. Quote
LEGODalekbuster523 Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Then don't. But don't poop on people that want movie accurate portrayals of the characters, either. 'Movie accurate'? We're talking about flipping collars! Would you care if they had too many stripes on the arms or the GB logo in the wrong place, or no printed glasses if the character wears glasses in the movie. That's all different; they would be more obvious mistakes rather than nitpicks. Quote
8BrickMario Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 I feel like a traitor saying this (let it be known that I love the originals) but I think I prefer the new 'Busters in minifigure form. The new hair and maybe even the uniform color is more visually interesting to me than Venkman and co's figures. Quote
mediumsnowman Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 This set looks pretty good, though it seems it'll mark the end of the originals shelf life. LEGO wouldn't want two different Ecto-1's on the shelf at one time. I might try and upgrade the Ideas one with some of the techniques from this one. (Like fitting all four and having opening doors) and replacing the proton pack tops with the black ingot piece. I also really like the bike. That could fit in with the old ones fine. I hope those sides are printed. Those would be a pain as stickers. Quote

BlueberryWaffles Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Have to say, I'm not looking forward to the reboot but the set looks nice. Opening doors, room for all four, new equipment, printed GB bike piece, and those new hair pieces! Only parts I don't like are Melissa McCarthy's faces and Leslie Jones' alt face, they seem a little too exaggerated. Quote
BritishBrickFan Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 not sure if others have asked this, but are there two torsos for the blonde character?? http://brickfanatics.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/ghostbusters-8.jpg http://brickfanatics.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/ghostbusters-27.jpg http://brickfanatics.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/ghostbusters-33.jpg Quote

x105Black Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Yep, two torsos and two heads for her! Is it 2 heads, or just a reversible head? Quote
Kintobor Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 (edited) Might there be a second set? Or a Dimensions pack; they have the license, so it makes sense the new Ghostbusters could appear in the game. Oh, good point, that's right, we are getting Dimensions packs for these. I can't see that. When has Lego ever provided images to something not included in a set unless it shows how to add something on, like Dol Guldur's two sets (technically three, but whatever). It'd be like putting Velma and Daphne among the images for the Mystery Machine set, despite them not being in it. Edited February 6, 2016 by Kintobor Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Is it 2 heads, or just a reversible head? Two heads, one head that has the yellow goggles and yellow glasses, and one that has it without the glasses and goggles. Interesting stuff. Quote
BrickFit26 Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Kevin in minifigure form looks more like Phillip Seymour Hoffman because of the way their hair parted. Chris Hemsworth hair is parted differently than his minifigure haha, a simple mistake I guess. But, wow, I love the 3 new hairpieces Quote
Jacob_9821 Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Tickle me impressed! 6 minifigs for $60? And all the Ghostbusters in one set? That is just great! As far as playability goes this one beats the Ideas one hands down in my opinion. A bunch of little accessories, working doors, and being able to fit 4 Ghostbusters into the car! Did I forget to mention the hair pieces? With this and Finn, we're finally getting more black people hair, that's spectacular for custom figs and the like. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this the first time we've ever gotten a black female minifigure? I can't remember, we might have, but I'm not sure. I almost want to say that I like this Ecto-1 better than Ideas one in terms of build.. But I have a few qualms. Really just the color scheme of the roof and the stickers on the windshield piece. Maybe once I get the set I'll grow to love the red and just not apply the stickers, but I think all and all, the two Ecto-1's are on fairly equal playing fields. Now, I just need to finish building the HQ before I get this set! Quote
