rollermonkey Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Um, the LEGO logo is backwards... How could that be legit?

Askan Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 ... just to remember: Pics from Wikipedia (Big Ben) and Bricklink Greetings ThomaS That was some great detective work
AFOLguy1970 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 That part is certainly close to the look of the clock face, but it seems like if they use that, then the tower will be kind of small. I have no idea how they could do the tower scaled around that part and it would be a $300 set at the same time. If they are doing a significant portion of Westminster, that would be different. I was honestly hoping that the clock face would be brick built with moveable hands since that one of the most detailed parts of the tower. Even though it probably will not be seen from the outside, I hope there is a "bell" on the inside.
nesquik Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 They could use this part, though the studs may pose a problem;
Ondra Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 This is really interesting, question is if they think about Big Ben back in 2010 or they postponed it prior to Sydney opera house. Or this is coincidence, but I dont believe in it .
6ix Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Or this is coincidence, but I dont believe in it . Lego most likely just used the clock face of Big Ben as inspiration for that part.
Ondra Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Lego most likely just used the clock face of Big Ben as inspiration for that part. Oh probably, or they planned medium sized big ben in architecture series, now see that this dish is only 4x4 so probably this big ben will be really small.
Terrasher Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 There is no way TLG would use Town Hall's printed clock piece for the Big Ben. It's too small and lazy (print) for a landmark set. I think, or at least, hope, that the clock will be entirely brick built. Building the clock with bricks and SNOT would make everything much more interesting. Plus, by making it brick built, there are many more possibilities for the set's size.

Ondra Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 (edited) It will be brick built - there's no way around it for a Creator Expert Landmark set! There are lot of printed pieces in creator expert range. If there is possibility to save some pieces they use printing, I dont see problem in this. Edited November 21, 2015 by Ondra
Ondra Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 I hope that Big Ben in landmark scale will be something like this MOC.I mean Big Ben, Stephens hall and river Thames. http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=71751
chofus Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Sorry for spamming, but what is gona be a US and A landmark set?? http://brickset.com/sets/year-2016/theme-Architecture
Cwetqo Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I got info that it's going to be US Capitol, but not confirmed, so I guess that we will have to wait and see.
rollermonkey Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Sorry for spamming, but what is gona be a US and A landmark set?? http://brickset.com/sets/year-2016/theme-Architecture US Capitol Building, if you are referring to the Architecture line.
Fabulandlover Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Is there more news about this set? I am hoping for a picture! If it is a set like the Tower Bridge (which is quite cool and on my to-buy list), the Taj Mahal and the Opera House, we are in for a treat!
Celery Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I have never bought any of the creator expert architecture line but I am trying to gather more support from the missus for my expensive hobby. She is a fan of the real Big Ben and when I told her about this set she was excited and suggested we build it together Is there any consistency from Lego as to when the sets are usually released or has anyone heard when this will hit shelves?
Herky Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Am excited for this just like everyone else, I also hope it is not just the bell but I am going to guess it is just the tower with a bell inside...if you go SOH size for the $325 USD price, that set had 2989 pieces and Tower Bridge had 4295 pieces...so this one will likely hit 3000 or more. And to put out the US Capitol in the same year, my wallet will take a hit, but those are amazing sets, especially since I missed out on Taj Mahal and the Statue of Liberty. Now to hope for a Feb release and then a later release so I can afford them both.
Fabulandlover Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Was this set also revealed at the Toy Fair? I'm soooooo curious!
CM4Sci Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Was this set also revealed at the Toy Fair? I'm soooooo curious! Nope. Probably wont' be released until 2HY
Captain Pirate Man Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Any news on this set? Cant wait to see it, then buy it.
Forresto Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Big Ben is just the bell not the physical tower from what I understand...just curious.
tafkatb Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Yes, we're aware... but I'm not even certain that "Big Ben" is even the official name of the set, so no point in correcting it until we know.
