Danorak81 Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Hi guys. I don't know if this is an odd request or not. I'm putting together a little additional Christmas present for my brother this year. I've managed to build a Cosmicopter/Particle Ionizer out of my box of spare Lego. I've bought a set of great condition instructions-all the bricks have been cleaned and bagged. I want to box it up for him, but obviously original boxes are as rare as rocking horse poo. I've got a nice thick cardboard box about the size of a DVD case too, just plain. I want to make it like getting the set again like when he was younger! What I'm looking for now is a scan of the original box. I can find images online, but they're either poor quality/photo's etc. I don't need it to be big enough to blow up 10 times the size of my house, but good enough to be a decent quality at about 9"x6". This is the box in question: I want to print it off and stick to the top of the box, just to dress the presentation up a little. I could scan the instruction front page but it's not the same! Can anybody help me out? Or is there a big database of box art/scans hidden on the internet anywhere? Any help appreciated! Dan :) Quote
deraven Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 That's an awesome and thoughtful gift! I'm not sure if you'll have any luck finding a high enough resolution image of the box unless you reach out to someone who you know has one in good condition and get them to scan it for you (look on this forum and others for folks who've done a Retro Review of that set and message them, for instance). What I would do if I were you, is get a good quality scan of the instruction booklet (since I'm pretty sure it's the same basic image) and hen add the other elements yourself. All you'd need to do is add the yellow border, expand the Legoland yellow stripe and put Space System under if, add the "Ages..." box, and drop on an M-Tron logo. The only thing you'd really have to find to make that work (since the other elements are just text and solid colors) would be a high-res M-Tron logo and that's not too hard, even if you need to add in "The Power of Magnets" yourself.
