Rishab N Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I got this set a few months ago and was immediately dissatisfied with it. So I decided to modify it, but just got around to posting it now. Special thanks to sm1995 for his tips and advice. The first thing to go was that atrocious front end. I gave it Madoca style headlights, LEDS, widened fenders, a more uniform color scheme, and filled in gaps. The winch is also manual now and uses Sariel's solution of manual control. I also missed an important part on the truck see if you can spot it. Now on to the rest of the truck. Cosmetically I did a lot. I raised the roof by one stud, and moved the front axle back one stud, and dropped the rear axle by one stud. I think all of these things really help the looks. On the inside, I tore out the gearbox and added IR control to it. Its powered by one XL and steering it controlled by an M motor which sits where the gearbox was. There is also an M motor in the original place for the set, but it only powers dumping through a red switch hidden behind a panel. The LEDs are also controlled by the switch which caused a lot of messy wiring underneath the bed. Overall I'm happy with how it turned out, but there are a lot of things I'd like to change: The dump bed is too long and the wheels stick out way too much. There are also a number of small rough spots which I would have like to have done better. As always feedback is very appreciated And finally a (blurry) bonus for all you Star Wars fans Quote
Saberwing40k Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Much better, but where are the seats? It's an improvement, but as you said, needs work. The area right in front of the doors in particular. That being said,it's much better than the set. Quote
Rishab N Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) Ah yes I forgot to mention the seats had to go in favor of the IR reciever and M motor. It was a bad compromise, but I wanted the receiver to be hidden. The area in front of the doors was already bad in the original and I wasn't sure what to do with it Need more skill in MOCcing I guess Edited November 9, 2015 by Rishab N Quote
zux Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Yes, front is greatly improved. Not sure if other changes are noticeable, but as you mentioned you have probably changed that Did you consider making front one-two-three studs longer? Quote
Rishab N Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 Never really considered that. I don't see it as necessary, as I always thought the rear was too long; however, I will try it and see how it turns out I agree that most of the mods aren't really visible unless viewing it with the original set Quote
