JJ2 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) Hello: This is my new MOC baja. It uses 2 L-motors for drive (not coupled) and a Servo motor for steering. It has full suspension with live axle rear (Like it should) and front positive caster independent suspension and working front lights. The batteries used are 9v made to work with custom adapers similer to 1nxtmonster 's called the MiniZip, but mine has 2 plugs instead of 1. (purists dont kill me) The front suspension is stablized by the 6L links elimiting almost all front-back free play in the suspension. Also the front suspension has no upper wishbon but it has a verticle axle holding it togeathe much like a MacPherson strut suspenion does, but the spring is not mounted to the hub. (see Image) It works quite well but does break if you drop it from over 3-4 feet or ~1.5 meters but it does the job for being as small as it is. Hope you like it All pictures HERE Bye Edited November 11, 2015 by JJ2 Quote
Technic Jim Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 OMG. That is tiny yet beautiful and so full of function. Can't wait for the video. Quote
SevenStuds Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Cool, it rocks! Must have good power to weight! I'm curions: how well did the single 9v battery holding up with all 3 motors? The L motors have quite high current draw. Could you show how you installed it? Quote

Yes, it does have good power to weight. Sometimes when I was driving it and it got stuck against somethingand the rear wheels did not stop put dug 2 wheel holes in the ground For the 9v batteries, they held up pretty well and their were 2 of them not one. Here you can see the 2 of them. I cut the swiches wire and spliced 2 9v battery plugs on it to double the power not the voltage. One thing about that is that the swich does not turn the IR off if it is in the center position so you have to unplug the wires from the swich to get it to turn off every time. Quote

Seems like you have a good setup there! Thanks for the extra pic. I really wouldn't mind having a very slim casing with pin holes for these batteries. I've used the old 9v boxes, but the studs and bulk don't appeal. I've seen people put tiny switches on the lead connected to the battery to solve what you're talking about. Still not always the easiest to integrate neatly. Hope to see a video if you're making one! Edited November 10, 2015 by SevenStuds Quote
Chade Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I love this! So much functionality in such a small space. Looking forward to the video. Also, which set do you get those wheels from? Quote
JJ2 Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 The wheels are from the 7471 Marse Rover They are very grippy and are great for small crawlers because of the deep treads. Quote
falconluan Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Really like the compact design, great work Quote
