Skandinavc FH Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) Let me show you another older MOC of mine. I'm also a big fan of Volvo trucks especially new FH4 and so I decided to make a five axle tractor unit. It had two driven and three steered axles. Tag axle was also a lift axle. It had simple gearbox with low and high speed. All of the PF elements were in the tower behind the cab. It had full suspension on all axles. But the front of the truck was too heavy so there was actually no suspension on the first axle. I don't like fake engines so there isn't any :) As you can see I'm a technic purist. Here is one photo of naked chassis: Unfortunately it never got the right trailer because there wasn't enough bricks to make one. Regards Edited November 17, 2015 by Skandinavc FH Quote
jorgeopesi Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 You are more liftarm lover than me, what a beast. Quote
Dafgek81 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Looks Nice, but I'm with Jogeopesi on the liftarms, like it more with a cleaner panel look. Quote
Beck Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 What an amazing looking truck! Can we expect a Video? Quote
Skandinavc FH Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 I'm happy to see that you like it. ...like it more with a cleaner panel look. I'm not a panel fan but I will have to start to use them more often due to weight problem with big models. ...Can we expect a Video? Unfortunately this truck was recycled last year so there will be no video. Sorry. Quote
Kiwi_Builder Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I, like the others, am not really a fan of the liftarm look, but even so it looks good I can see that you prefer the liftarm look so I'm not going to complain about it, it's what the builder likes so we'll take it Your suspensions system could be improved but you managed to implement it which is impressive in itself. That trailer looks interesting too, it's a shame you weren't able to finish it but that's how it goes sometimes Quote
Lakop Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 The only negative for me is the doors and personally I think it looks more like a renault magnum truck. I can imagine your moc with a trailer, would make a great formula one style truck. She is a beauty and the yellow works very well. H Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 For me the wheels seem a little small, but besides that this build is impressive and massive, great!!! Quote
M_longer Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 (edited) It is a pitty that you have taken it apart, becuase it could got some improvements. I like that it uses 10x4 chassis, because it is not so common in LEGO models. First of all, front axle could use hard yellow shock absorbers. Cab could be built differently, because all that holes from liftarms collides with smooth look of few areas of the cab. How much was it able to pull? Two XL provides anough torque for pulling furniture around. I see two M motors in the front of the frame, both were used for steering? That z24 gear on the last axle didn't hit anything while driving? Edited November 19, 2015 by M_longer Quote
bonox Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 ingenious application of the sleeper cab/auxilliary space for the motors. The lifting rear axle is a very nice touch. Quote
nerdsforprez Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 (edited) I love these huge trucks. Not in looks, but in shear size and overall mass, it reminds me of a nicolas tractomas or something The first impression one gets by looking at the beast is that it has terrific pulling power Edited November 20, 2015 by nerdsforprez Quote
Aleh Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Very nice truck! Being the fun of truck I like it very much! Especially the cab! And the colour theme. Quote
MajklSpajkl Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Congratulations on HOF!!! Job well done! Quote

I would use yellow shock absorbers if I had any ;) I liked it that way with holes. This truck was made for one local exhibition and I didn't make any experiments with it because it was recycled very quickly. XL motors were both for driving, one M motor was for steering and one for gearbox. That z24 under pull axle had just enough ground clearance that didn't hit anything. After all this was an highway truck ;) Congratulations on HOF!!! Job well done! Thanks! I wasn't expecting that :) Quote
Francesco Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Hello, do You have or do you sell building instruction for your Volvo FH4? I'am a MOC collector's and I search all Volvo models: your veicle is one really masterpiece, please help me to can build it. Best Regards. Francesco. Quote
Skandinavc FH Posted May 14, 2017 Author Posted May 14, 2017 Hello Francesco, Sorry but I don't have any instructions and that Volvo has already been recycled. Regards,Rok Quote
1gor Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 That is a big model, and it is logical to use motors on such model. Manual functions were to heavy to operate. Very impressive, it looks like you have used two 42009 sets for it Quote
