henrysunset Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) I'm really excited about LEGO Architecture, so naturally I was thrilled to see that high-res photos of four of the new 2016 LEGO Architecture sets are here! The biggest news is the introduction of a third series within the the LEGO Architecture product line! "Cityscapes" feature several iconic buildings from cities around the world in a single model, joining the existing "Architect" and "Landmark" series. The four 2016 LEGO Architecture sets (including the new "cityscapes".) I'm thrilled to try the new sets, and see what additional Cityscapes we have in the future. I'm also excited to see at least one more large-scale model this year - The Burj Khalifa (albeit an updated version of a model from 2011.) Lots more analysis, including expected piece counts and prices, more details on the standard base used on all three cityscape models and more at http://brickarchitec...e-2016-preview/ Sincerely, ---tom P.S. There is also a rumour of a further UK and New York set this year, I'm personally hoping for a detailed model of the Chrysler building, but One WTC seems like a good guess as well. What do you think? What UK or New York buildings should be added to the series? Edited November 24, 2015 by henrysunset Quote
temes Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I love the Venice set, because all the buildings fit together nicely and they have similar style. That Venice set will be the first architecture set I buy. Berlin & New York sets with different style buildings are realistic because those cities are like that, but as a Lego sets they are not that pleasant for my eyes. Quote
santaends Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I love the article, really good analysis. Didn't know they were classified as Architectural, Landmark and now Cityscape. Quote
Emmi Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I love that Architecture sets use 0 stickers ... as far as I see from the high-res images it continues with these amazing sets! Thanks LEGO. Quote
CM4Sci Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 The two sets are Buckingham Palace and the US Capitol I think. Quote
Steve309 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Great article But also 21025 still has never been mentioned. And now were up to 21031. With still a set number open. Quote
freakwave Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Looks like LEGO had too many "Burj Khalifa" tiles left :-) Interesting that we get another incarnation of the world's tallest building so soon. Interesting thoughts in your blog-post Quote
WhiteFang Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Thank you for your insightful thoughts with regards to the upcoming 2016. Pretty good estimation as well on the sets. It's great to see you looking forward to it. Quote
6ix Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I collect all the NYC Architecture sets, but I can't say I like this one (though I will get it nonetheless, just like I did with the Flatiron Building). I'm not fond of the colors for the Chrysler Building and the two different colors for One world Trade Center. I wonder how it will look with a line-up of Statue of Liberty - One World Trade Center - Flatiron Building - Empire State Building - Chrysler Building, to reflect the approximation of the buildings in the real city. Emmi Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) Am I right that there's no stickers used in any of the upcoming Architecture set? That'd be great! Please confirm CM4Sci. Edited November 24, 2015 by Emmi Quote
henrysunset Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 I re-created the Venice model last night. Here is a photo: https://www.instagram.com/tomalphin/ Quote
henrysunset Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 I love that piece of tape :-p Yup, I'm classy like that... I did the same thing when I reverse-engineered the Louvre and Flatiron models. Quote
rollermonkey Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I really hope that the bridge on the far right of the Venice set is NOT supposed to represent the Bridge of Sighs. THIS is the Bridge of Sighs, not whatever that thing on the right is. ...and also why microscale is completely inappropriate for some of these sets. (I'm looking at you, Trevi) Quote
henrysunset Posted November 25, 2015 Author Posted November 25, 2015 I just finished building the new Empire State Building. It's a great model with lots of intricate SNOT work and some complex offsets to work through. It took about an hour to build. This set will be a great source for LEGO Part #87087 (Brick, stud 1 side), and 2412 (1x2 Grille). I don't have the new #18674 2x2 round jumper, so I improvised. Tom Alphin @ Instagram I'm excited to finish the model later tonight. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Some minor errors, but a nice recreation I'm liking those cityscape sets more than I could anticipate! They are really nice Quote
Blue_Bird Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 (edited) I've never gotten an architecture set before but that Venice one looks like a must have. The NYC one too Edited November 25, 2015 by Blue_Bird Quote
Boettner Builds Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 I'm just sitting here, waiting for any San Francisco sets,so I can get my first architecture set. I do really like these new skyline sets though! Quote
Matt85 Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 (edited) I hope they do Toronto, I remember being amazed when I saw the cn tower at 5. Edited November 26, 2015 by Matt85 Quote
XAxles Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 So I guess the fig-scale Lady Liberty IS off-scale. Quote
