They are totally inaccurate... Minotaurs didn't have such legs.

How so? They look a lot more accurate than the regular minifig legs to me.

Traditionally he was part bull, part man. However, a lot of modern fan art depicts him more bull like with the upright form of a man. I quite like the shaped legs on the minotaur.

Classically, he was a normal man with the head of a bull, but these days, he's more bullish in the rest of his body. Anyway, the hooves technically aren't accurate, but they're just an extension of the real legs, which also have them.

These figs are great. My favorite is probably the classic Queen, but there are a number of stand-out figs!

Maybe they're not trying to be mythologically accurate? It's not like the actual minifigure came like that, and it's really not anyone's business what other people do with their fig parts.

Remember "he" (the minotaur) didn't exist. Even in Greek times there were different forms of him in the myths (and statues), usually with a bull head and tail at minimum, in some cases the rest human and in some cases just a human torso. And his form has changed with fashions throughout history. For example, Dante's Minotaur has the top half of a man and the body of the bull (much more like a centaur than the classic minotaur).

Even it doesn´t exist, it is a creature of greek mythology, and there it is a human body with the head of a bull.

Dante was an italian poet in 13th century, and the illustrations the centaur-like minotaur were drawn by a french illustrator in 19th century.

I don´t think that´s the best reference for anything like that.

Series 6 Minotaur comes close to the illustrations, the old greeks made 2500 years ago.

Nobody was complaining about Medusa, even though, originally, she would have had boar's tusks, brass wings, and regular legs. It's just expected these days for her to be "half-woman, half-snake" instead of "all-monster, part-snake".

The Knight works surprisingly well as a Rohan Soldier. I'll definitely be picking up a few. The new mold for the Queen's dress would also work very well for some of Queen Amidala's costumes.

The only thing Satyr missing was a tail. I know they weren't going to give him a tail mold, but a tail printing in the back would have been nice. And some more brown fur on his back, but overall great minifigure.

Do with the Minotaur whatever the heck you want. Throw them into a fish tank for all I care.

Don't worry about what other's do with their Minotaur.

If you think Goat-legged Minotaur are dumb, then keep yours normal-legged and be proud of yourself.

If you think it doesn't matter what incarnation you use, then use whatever incarnation of the Minotaur you'd like.

A Minotaur is a Minotaur is a Minotaur is a minute-problem in the end.

Yes, anybody is entitled to do whatever they want.

I just said that it was unaccurate. Period.

If someone put a flintrock gun into a cmf knight, I would have said the very same way.

Even the snake tail for the Medusa was totally inaccurate, so TLG failed on that one.

I can say "it's beautiful" or "it's interesting" or "it's inaccurate".

Everyone is entitled to put the legs they want as much as I am totally entitled to state this as inaccurate :D

If we want to be accurate, we should also say, that satyr is completely incaccurate.

The oldest illustrations of satyrs were shown with body parts of horses or donkeys - and usually human legs.

The Minifig reminds me more to Pan, whose goat legs were mentioned already in the earliest tales about his birth.

Satyrs became retroactively associated with the Roman faun, which is a goat-legged humanoid. These days, the two are one and the same.

Regardless, mythological accuracy is already an oxymoron. The stories weren't true, and there was nothing stopping people from changing them around.

An idea for a future use of the new dress piece for an upcoming series could be a female Opera Singer. The idea came to me while watching an old episode of the Simpson's where Bart say's "it ain't over until the fat lady sings" She had a big dress similar to the queen's dress. It would be cool to see.

Thanks for posting this awesome review. It's really reinvigorated my interest in the CMF series after I took a break when Simpsons 2 came out. I actually dug out some of my minifigures from the previous series to compare them to this one and it looks really promising.

Great review Whitefang! I gotta say, only the Satyr, Queen, Shark suit guy, and winged warrior excite me, it's a subpar series to me now that I get to see them in depth, the farmer in particular is a very bland design. I thought I would really like this series, glad you all are liking it though

In many of the original stories he was just described as being part bull, part man. Not the head of the bull and the rest normal man. Remember these myths were coming about 2000BC but weren't written down until 1000 years later. Many Greek statues and images of ~1000BC depict him as head of bull, with a man's body but also tail of bull. Although there are some depicting him as more bull like than this (larger chest, sometimes cloven feet). But these were images made many years after the original stories were being formed. There is no right and wrong here. The Minotaur is a fictional character that is not scientifically possible.
