So does Lego produce parts specifically for that? I thought they were just spare parts from production sets.

Its possible the red hair in the build-a-minifig bins was actually made with the intent of having the printing added for the Poison Ivy minifig but never had that added and ended up in the build-a-minifig bins instead.

Well you can always go to the Bricklink catalog and it'll tell you what places the piece came in. You'll first need to ID the part, though, and that can be the annoying part (no pun intended).

For all the hair lovers, I 've made a list of recent and upcoming minifig-hair pieces for 2017

Because there are so many new hair pieces! I might forget a hairpiece, if i did please tell me in the comments below. I hope the hairpieces will not be exclusive to the sets so we can get them separately. 

Some hair pieces are completely new moulds (lego batman movie) and some are just in different color variations (beatles submarine) . 

Quick question,  does anyone know if the blue hair from nexo knights is the same mould that was for bellatrix lestrange from harry potter?

And keep in mind that Rapunzel's hair has 2 variations, one with 2 pin holes and another with 3. The Revolutionary soldier hair has 2 variations, one with black ribbon and another with dark blue ribbon. The king crown with hair also has a variation with dark orange hair. And Luminara Unduli's head piece isn't hair.

I woulndn't count on that, but only TLG really knows...

From what I see, these hairpieces are missing

-CMF S14 Monster Scientist

-Riddler's hat+hair combo (Batman Movie)

-Magpie hair is white, which is a new color for that hairpiece I think (Batman Movie - Riddler set)

-Bruce Wayne's hair (Batman Movie - black version of the CMF S16 Dog Show Winner's hairpiece)

-Mime's hair is a new color (Batman Movie CMFs)

-Cop hat with hair (City and Batman Movie CMFs)

-Tarantula's hair is a new color (Batman Movie - CMF S11 Waitress hair recolored)

Also, Batgirl has a new cowl + hair but they are actually 2 separate pieces, so maybe you could include only the hair part?

Finally, I noticed you have the CMF S16 Cyborg listed as a male, but it's a woman. (well, half-woman lol)

Yes i've also noticed this accessory pack at brickset, i also think the sleepy boy's hair is in sand blue.

Sorry, nevermind. It was one of the "Catagory not Known" pages of Brickset's parts database, full of hairpieces, but the page content changes with different 'items per page' setting and the further categorizing of new parts. Should've realized that when I linked to it.
