Jurss Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 I think, that You can use any detachable thing - pallet, some stairs, container etc. but it must be attached to main thing, when measurments are made. Quote
Seasider Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Found out how small the box is when I found a blueprint of something I thought about building and then realised even on its smallest scale it would still be 17k in size! Back to the drawing boards Quote

Jim Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 I have followed this discussion closely but I don't remember this question came up. Are accessories like a container for a telehandler, or a pallet for a forklift allowed? (Provided they fit in the size constraint with the main model) I know that detachable pieces are not allowed, but I think this doesn't fit in that category. There's a very thin line between a necessity and an accessoire. If I allow accessoires, people will come up with the most crazy stuff to use in their B-model. So the answer is No. Quote
Krall Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 (edited) Can I use other thread in B model than the one I'll use in Model A? For example longer one. Edited December 12, 2015 by Krall Quote

Saberwing40k Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 I don't know if this has been asked before, but my model has a bounding box 48x15x13 studs, resulting in a total volume of 9,360 cubic studs. Would I be able to add a few small parts that protrude beyond the bounding box, provided that the total volume still does not exceed the 10,000 stud limit? Quote

I'm pretty sure that that's a no since they would be protruding out the 'box'. Quote

Serhio Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I read almost all of the discussion, but did not find the answer to my question. What is the allowable percentage of use of parts in the model B? Should I try to use the maximum number of available parts, or better to focus on the model B was the best possible light and clean? If I remain a lot of spare parts, do I try to use them as decorations for the model B, or the number of remaining components is not critical? Quote

If I remain a lot of spare parts, do I try to use them as decorations for the model B, or the number of remaining components is not critical? Ultimately it's entirely up to you, as long as all the parts for the B-model came from the A-model it's in the contest. If you need some guidance, you could look at well-received official B-models or C/D-model MOCs from AFOLs and see how they balanced using as many parts as possible against keeping the B-model "uncluttered". I suspect this question will play a part in how each entry is received and how many points they receive, so the only other thing I could suggest is to post a WIP topic (when you can) and see what the judges think Edited December 29, 2015 by Jay Psi Quote
Seasider Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Don't think I'm going to be able to get an entry ready in time. Been busy with moving house, friends wedding, Christmas, girlfriends birthday and decorating the house and building a shed load of IKEA furniture I'm finding a distinct lack of time to do any Lego. I got as far as making 2 bags of a few bits, wheels and "engine" and a crude idea of a funny car and drag racer to make something prettier than the new model. But that's it chaps ... Hopefully join you for the next comp Quote
JJ2 Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 (edited) I have a quick question. Can you model be manual like the 42006 excavator but you can add on the power functions add on kit to make it motorized? Edited January 1, 2016 by JJ2 Quote
Milan Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 You mean leaving a room for them in your model? During the contest, your models are not allowed to contain any electronics. Quote

Jim Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 So, how is everyone progressing in the contest? Quote
muffinbrick Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Just waiting for recieving orders from BL to finish A - model. Hopefully it will come next week. Some ideas for B - model I have on paper, I wonder, how it will go with real bricks from A. Meanwhile I have made A in LDD and it has more then 800 parts Quote
zweihander Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I'm currently visiting my family, so I'm away from my legos. I have some ideas for the b-model and can't wait to try them out in a couple of days. I've gathered copies of the pieces of my a model in a seperate container and will use them in the beginning, but I'll have to dismantle the a model to build the b model. I plan to leave the last 3 or 4 days for shooting and editing, so I have less time for the b-model. I'm really enjoying the contest, and some really good models are being revealed. Kudos for organizing this. Quote
lcvisser Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 So, how is everyone progressing in the contest? I think I'm getting there. The B-model is hard... So many moments of "I wish I had this-and-this part available" I'm glad there's no requirement of having both models in one picture, since it seems I've used about all my rare parts... Quote
MacKaiwer Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 So, how is everyone progressing in the contest? My both models were ready really quick but now I need to take better pictures and make video... Just feeling so lazy that everything is halted Waiting inspiration to do something before contest time ends... Quote
Samer Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Does the use of this have limit in this contest? Quote
