WesternOutlaw Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Too much. This set isn't on my high want list but I was looking forward to another large classic SW model. If it was the inside of a Death Star, Hoth Base, or Endor Tree House, then it would be a different story, but at $150, probably won't be buying. A small pack of jawas and a few droids would do nicely for me. Quote
The Middleman Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 I'm still waiting for Jabba's sail barge. Flesh-tone slave Leia! Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 That would be a nice set as well. Maybe now that we saw quite a few Hoth/Empire sets, Lego will be returning to Tatooine. How do you like the new Falcon (4504)? I don't have one and have been debating. I also think Cloud City is a neat set. Quote

Get the Falcon: - Flesh tones - New colors - Great construction/playability - Snowtrooper Cloud City is inferior in every way. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Appreciate the tip. Thanks. I'm running out of room from all the boxes (esp. the larger sets). Quote

WesternOutlaw Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 I like to keep the boxes for storage. I had many sets from the 80s that are now in bags in one large box. Don't like to store them this way, plus it's easier to find the set I'm looking for. Quote

I myself am also thinking of buying this set... it's a lot of money... Quote

I would if I were you snefroe1 ;) I really love the Falcon, and since its a redesign, once its gone, its gone for good, so I would not let this set pass. You can always buy ROTS sets later on ;) Quote
The Middleman Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Yeah, it's one of my favorite sets of all time, gonna be worth craploads when it goes out of production. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 I've been waiting for it to go on sale. Amazon offered it at (I think 20% off) some time ago, but when I went back to order, the sale had ended. I just hate blowing $100 + tax. Target still has them here in the US as well as the Internet sites (even free shipping without tax would do it for me at this point). I've been watching the set since Christmas. Maybe I'll just order from SAH and be glad that I got one (even at full $). Quote
xwingyoda Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 At some point the department store Galleria Kauhof in Germany sold it less than 80 Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 I picked up a Falcon today! Well worth the money. This truly is an excellent model. The ship is sturdy, nicely detailed and has a lot of neat extras (ie. the removable escape pod, lowering ramp, small front-end cargo compartment, central laser turret, and the snowtrooper w/ laser cannon. It took me well over three hours to build (probably more but I took a few breaks and lost track of the total time). Just a few things that would have made the model better: The cockpit is very small and Han & Chewie have to be placed in just right to attach the clear cover. The central laser turret round-cover piece would have been nicer clear or with pre-printed designs (vs. stickers). No secret cargo compartment inside to hide the figs. The escape pod cover is too plain w/out the use of the stickers (a partial clear top would have been nice). None of the figs have guns. No R2 and Luke. As always, needs more Troopers. Overall, this is a very nice set. I'm looking forward to recreating some battles with my few Storm/Snow troopers. This set puts the AT-AT to shame. Thanks to all of you for recommending. This is probably my favorite SW model. :) Quote
The Middleman Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 Great to hear you took the advice! I agree about the cockpit and smuggling compartment - is your cockpit a little loose, as well? Quote
xwingyoda Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 TheBrickster, I'm glad you've decided to buy the Falcona and most of all you love it ;) For me this is by far one the best OT sets with the AT-AT Quote
snefroe Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 i just bought the falcon as well... 84 pounds! it saves me 25 euro! However... the pharaoh wasn't happy at all... In fact... he was furious... "This is the second time that this green smurf used his mind tricks against me! First the Billund trip, now the falcon! i swear i'll have to send him a good old fashioned curse, like any decent pharaoh would..." :P :P Quote
xwingyoda Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 The green smurfs strikes again :-D ;) After 900 years, it still works :P Seriously you did well on our advice, if you really wanted this set, it was nearly your last chance to buy it. Yoda wisdom seves you well ;) Quote
languages Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 I would really like this set but compared to some of the ROTS sets is it actually worTH GETTING? ps. 150 POST..... :-D :-D Quote
xwingyoda Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 To aswer your question, you NEED a Falcon, how could you possibly builad a rebel base without a Falcon?? The design is just great (much much better than the first one). Anyway, you'll have all the time in the world to buy ROTS sets later on. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 is your cockpit a little loose, as well? The cockpit is loose, and the figs just barely have a place to sit. I like the detailed window though. The ship was fun to build. I've made an Imperial Shuttle Bay on a bookshelf covered in photo quality pictures designed in Power Point (with some real pictures of Ties for viewing screens) - didn't come out so bad (at least to my standards). I've got a small army of imperial troopers marching along. Now my next ship (probably from E-Bay), might be a Sith Infiltrator (probably not the best model), but I've always wanted one. Anyone out there have it? Quote

It's so out of place and disproportianal to the rest of the ship. I'd rather have the original any day over the new one. Quote

It's so out of place and disproportianal to the rest of the ship. I'd rather have the original any day over the new one. Well, the first falcon is disproportional to the PEOPLE. ;) Which is worse? And the cockpit is the only out-of-proportion thing, really. The rest is right on. The construction is amazing, the construction for the old falcon is not. The old falcon didn't open up in a cool way, you just pulled the roof off. Speaking of the roof, it was totally <insert that tiresome argument>. Sure, it had the smuggling compartment, but it wasn't half as good as the one we have now. Quote
Precious Jazz Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 Don't forget the new one looks like a peice of junk just like the real Falcon, while the original looks a lot like a plastic hamburger. Quote
Darth_Ewok Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 I won't take sides because I don't even have a falcon ;) Quote
