The Middleman Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 I think it'll be a little smaller but a lot more filled out than the AT-AT. Quote
KMOI Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 What's inside the SandCrawler? I think i'd be kinda neat to have things inside it, like the Millenuim Falcon. Quote
snefroe Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 What's inside the SandCrawler? I think i'd be kinda neat to have things inside it, like the Millenuim Falcon. well it's a UCS i believe, so i'm hoping it to be as large as half of the large gray baseplate. the only clue we have is the threads. TLC is going for technic links, so i guess it will be quite large... we also know tlc is going to use traditional bricks, so it should be strong enough to have an interior, but if you take the last sw sets, like the arc, there wasn't much interior to it. tLC could take exactly the same approach for the sandcrawler: large model, no details, especially on the inside... No, it's not UCS (unless you mean Cloud City kind of UCS). It'll be minifig scale, and it'll probably have some sort of interior. Probably not very detailed, though. Quote
V()()D()() Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 well if it'll have minifigs I think there would be some interior. ;) Quote
The Middleman Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 so you haven't bought the ARC, then? :P It did have computers, and that was a rather small set - I think a better example of a 'new' large set would be the Falcon, which had an EXCELLENT interior. Quote
snefroe Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 so you haven't bought the ARC, then? :P It did have computers, and that was a rather small set - I think a better example of a 'new' large set would be the Falcon, which had an EXCELLENT interior. i think you're wrong... you see, the falcon was still part of the old strategy, meaning, let's build darn good models with lots of details. costs are not top priority. this years' models are already part of the new strategy: let's build good models without having to spend too much on production... Look at the turbo tank, a large set, that also doesn't really have many details inside... look at the way tlc did the cockpit windows: just a few transparant tiles here and there, nothing detailed, what so ever... a brown seat is in the cockpit, i believe... i think that's TLC's new approach: keep the number of different parts limited; avoid details unless you have to; use parts we're using in other models as well;... one of the reasons why tlc is using technic threads for the crawler, for instance, is because they're also on the wookie attack; the reason why they're using bricks instead of plates, is because bricks are far more cost efficient... i hope i'm wrong. i'd love to see a crawler based on the falcon philosophy, but i don't think that's going to happen... whenever i see a set, i see the principles of the new strategy, unfortunately... another example would be the computer stickers of the yellow starfighter: these are not part of their production, so it's a lot easier to "pull the plug" on that production line. it's just a contract with another company that has to be dropped, that's it. a lot cheaper than organising the production of printed tiles... Governor Mister Phes Posted May 15, 2005 Governor Posted May 15, 2005 When will LEGO make pictures of this thing available so we can see what they're upto? Quote
sam89 Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 Apparently, there are some 'platforms' inside which are some kinds of workshops. Quote
Ras 74 Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 Thanks for that info. Sam. Phes you seem to be just as intolerant as the rest of us now. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 15, 2005 Governor Posted May 15, 2005 I'm more intolerant than all of you put together! I should really kick LEGO's butt for how they've wronged me since 1997... Quote
eDeevo Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 I'm more intolerant than all of you put together! I should really kick LEGO's butt for how they've wronged me since 1997... I second that! (The second part anyways ;) ) Life is Good. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 16, 2005 Governor Posted May 16, 2005 And I'll kick their butts if they wrong everyone who wants a Sandcrawler too! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 16, 2005 Governor Posted May 16, 2005 Yeah, that would be a good way to test if LEGO actually pays attention to what goes on in this message board. If they're aware details like that are being made public here then they've obviously got someone reading here. Or maybe one of us is a mole... Quote
snefroe Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 it's funny... in the past, TLC did "leak" all sorts of info and pics on several models/themes... if you read our own topics of the past, you can clearly see a marketing mechanism behind it. the death star is the best example... this time, they're really trying to keep this a secret. i wonder why that is... Quote
Vader Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 Perhaps there really proud of there model or really embaressed, i know which one im hoping it will be. Quote

Ras 74 Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 I have had contact with a saleswomen here in sweden. I have tried to get her to talk. Eighter she is a Master in disguise. OR she haven Quote
snefroe Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 picking up on ras74's message, i've often noted that toy shop personel don't know very much about lego products. at best they know what's in the shop, but apart from that, they just don't have a clue. a sandcrawler, Eurobricks, brickshelf,... whatever... they just don't know... don't care... Mister Phes, don't tell me that you don't see the marketing behind the death star news a while ago. for instance, the news about the death star reached the forums just before the toy fair in the US, than "a legogirl" told some one to watch the lego website on Wednesday... that's marketing, that's just the way capitalism in a free market works, and even we, Eurobricks are a part of that... I don't mind that, btw, i just wondered why they haven't given us anything more than what we already know... Perhaps they're just trying to keep all media on the existing models... do we have any numbers on current sw sales, btw? Quote
TheQ Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Hmm.. I am deeply sorry if this picture has been sent to here before, but I just hadn't got enough time to look around 12 pages? Anyway, as I visited the ol' 'Shelf for seeing what kind of MOCs have arrived, I came across this following image: PICTURE. Look at the right side of the picture? Under the X-wing? Now, what is that thing? I am truly clueless. Quote
chewie Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 :() .....its a picture of the sandcrawler..or so it looks like it......im kinda suprised at what it looks like. although it does look pretty good...im gonna try and blow this picture up so i can see more of the front Quote
sam89 Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 It's a prototype from 1999, but the final thing probably looks similar. Quote
TheQ Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Ah, thanks for clearing things up, Sam. Either way, set might be interesting. Quote
