Haven't done a pirate MOC in awhile, so here goes one that uses the octagonal tower design that was posted in the Historic themes a couple of weeks ago.

Hey! Nice opening tower as play feature and land based carriage for the cannons! (I guess the carriage idea came from lone ranger cavalry set?) :P

Also it was about time someone put black tricorns on bluecoats :)

Excellent. Towers like this always remind me of Sabre Island, even though this one is inland. The design is nice and simple and looks quite good in grey. The landscape definitely has the tropical feel with those lovely trees and parrots, and that fabulous blue sky background adds to the effect. Big-wheeled cannons are kinda rare in this theme and they're a welcome addition. And most importantly - new bluecoats wearing tricornes! Sure, the shakos are nice, but they always remind me of the 19th century. Tricornes seem much more appropriate for the age of piracy or the 18th century either way. Again, I really like the design and mood of this. I feel like I could just step right into the scene, and that to me is the best sign of a job well done. Excellent.
