Sariel Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Hello everybody. This time I've decided to try and put my reviews in one separate thread for easy access. Let me know how it works for you. I would like to mention that your views and comments on the videos always matter because I actually send back a report to Lego on my reviews. There will be somebody at Billund taking look at your activity :) First off, here's the entire playlist with my reviews: And now the individual reviews: 42052 Heavy Lift Helicopter 42050 Drag Racer 42049 Mine Loader 42048 Race Kart 42047 Police Interceptor 42046 Getaway Racer 42045 Hydroplane Racer 42044 Display Team Jet Quote
Jim Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I really like your new style of introducing the models. Nice Ken Burns effect here and there Your new camera seems to be working fine Quote
Sariel Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 Thanks Jim! The new camera sure came handy when it came to filming the heli against white backdrop. I don't think my old one could have handled this :) Now let me take a look at the photos you've made and develop inferiority complex ;) Quote
XAxles Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Suddenly Wolverine. Also, Jim there was quoted to have said that 42052's B-model looks like a guinea pig, though personally I find the B-model just as impressive. Can you confirm the guinea pig quote? Quote
Sariel Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 I agree it bears a strong resemblance to a guinea pig, although I have yet to see one with rotors ;) Quote
TheItalianBrick Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 (edited) There is something fundamentally wrong in your reviews sariel, at the beginnin of each video you mention "I don't know how can you get one" referring to the fact you got it earlier for review, well this is missleading! Sounds like other people won't be able to buy this set, where instead you should simply say "available from 1st or X december/genuary at major retails/LEGO shops..." Erik Leppen Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Checked out all the reviews. Thanks for making them, it really helps. I'm not sure if I'll get any of the sets, or just collect the pieces, but for some weird reason I like the hydroplane most. I also really like that dragster for ingenuity and originality. I think it's simply just quite a weird set, and it's good to see designers to out and create something weird for once. One thing I really miss is some more time to check out the uses of that new bent panel. I think it is best used on the diagonal of a 3/4/5 triangle, as is done on the loader. Also we should really find out what the colored axles are all about. Quote
Richard Dower Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 are the parts seen in the mine loader Flat Silver or Metallic Silver?....they look like Flat. Also we should really find out what the colored axles are all about. i suspect the red axles are for the airport rescue vehicle....or, TLG had a ton left over from years ago and want to deplete inventory. Quote
Erik Leppen Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I think they are for making things easier for children. But why does one set have 4L and 5L Axles colored and the other sets have 6L and 7L axles colored. Quote
RohanBeckett Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 always very polished, informative video reviews! You come across as being very 'honest' about them, despite some of the smaller sets being rather less true to the ideal of 'technic' (ie: not many functions) just the right amount of humour, and hamsters in them too, to add a smile here and there... for non-narrated video reviews, it really does add a lot of personality to your videos! Sariel Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 are the parts seen in the mine loader Flat Silver or Metallic Silver?....they look like Flat. The fan is Flat Silver. As for the axles, I too suspect they were made to make things easy for kids, not for us. Either kids can't be bothered to tell 5L axle from 7L axle or Lego is trying to make 4 years old build this stuff, I don't know. Last thing I would suspect is that anyone cares how it will match with colors of our MOCs. When I saw this reddish brown axle in the Drag Racer I was like "oh come ON". Quote
SevenStuds Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Beautiful videos! Image quality and lighting is great! Now go sleep and stop checking comments ;) Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Thanks for these reviews again! Quote
dr_spock Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Thanks for the review. Report back to LEGO? What kind of metrics are they collecting? I think they are for making things easier for children. But why does one set have 4L and 5L Axles colored and the other sets have 6L and 7L axles colored. It could be since they are using more Technic pieces in other themes geared towards the younger age range than the Technic crowd. Quote
Sariel Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 Report back to LEGO? What kind of metrics are they collecting? The standard stuff, you know, views and comments in various time spans. Also, the numbers of times hamsters were discussed ;) Quote
allanp Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Ah, well tell em the go kart is nice and it's great to finally get a speed changing gearbox after so many years but it could have done with a new size clutch gear for the gearbox! Quote
JJ2 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Good reviews, I almost died from laughter when you did the wolverine mode on in the Heavy life helicopter. Quote
Andy D Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Thanks for the reviews! Great as always! I was not planning to buy anything from the 2016 wave, but now the Drag Racer and Race Cart are must buys! Also, thanks for putting all the reviews in one thread, makes it much easier to find. The hamsters are really great, adding much authenticity to the models. I did not get a chance to look at all the reviews yet, but the thread will make it much easier to get back to them. Thanks again for all that you do. Andy D The standard stuff, you know, views and comments in various time spans. Also, the numbers of times hamsters were discussed ;) Do they only look at comments on YouTube, or will they get info from here on EB? Quote
Milan Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Do they only look at comments on YouTube, or will they get info from here on EB? Both. Quote
Geekphysique Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I came to work 40 minutes early to enjoy these reviews while doing my morning tasks. Couldn't be happier! Quote
Sariel Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 Looking great, I envy you being able to read with one eye and watch vids with the other ;) Quote
Geekphysique Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 One of these days Ill post a picture of me testing a system with your videos. While hamsters are cute on computer screens, they can be intimidating if they are projected at 32 feet wide Quote
Sariel Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 I have a feeling that being 32 feet wide was always their goal ;) Quote
