Well, I tried that and it looks rather good, but it came apart lifting the slightest load.

Yeah, I like to build fully technic . I also generally do not mix studded with studless. Well, except for the boom this time

Hi everyone, it's time to fully unveil my TC9 A-Model, Manitou Telehandler.

The manual functions: folding forks and cabin door: Forks will most likely be replaced with better looking& functioning technic fork parts in the final version.

The movement range of the boom, both raising and elevation. Raising the boom is done with two 1x11 pneumatic cylinders (second one will be added when it arrives ) and extending the boom is done with the 24z gear on the back of the boom. Changed the boom extension gear from 12z to this because it was too slow to extend it fully in the old version. Attachment Angle is controlled by the red axle connector at the end of the boom.

Also pneumatic: Outriggers. Rubber feet on the outriggers provide better grip than regular beams/connectors.

Here's a bonus shot that I really like:

The rear black connector controls the boom elevation, and the front one controls the outriggers.

And here it is sitting comfortably inside the 17*36*16 bounding box. The model is actually one stud narrower than the box, so model's volume is 9216 cubic studs.

I'm thinking of building something that's not a construction machine, kinda like set 9393. My inital idea was a dragster sort of vehicle with 4 wheels on the rear axle & pulley wheels on the front. I may also try an ATV, if nothing else comes to mind. But I'll see what comes up when I grab a hot cup of tea and start building it

I'm currently modeling this in MLCad and after I finish that, I'll get right on the B-model.

I love how good this looks at this scale. I'd love to see it setting next to Jurgen's Manitou for comparison. Once you have finished the MLCAD file, I can make that happen.

Thank you. The white door is a Manitou thing, without it the model would be just a telehandler. And I think that it looks a bit more striking than full black cabin.

It's been a long time since I posted any updates, partly because I was away for holidays for some time, but mostly because this was all I had as a b-model for a very long time:

It's a cobra snake, in case anybody was wondering . Its functions were crawling, adjusting head angle, and hissing. I knew building a b-model or a c-model is hard, but I didn't realize how hard it actually was.

I wanted to build the b-model without dismantling the telehandler, so I gathered the parts in a container, (having the digital model helped a lot). Turns out I don't have all the pieces to build without dismantling, but with some color sacrifices I managed to gather %90 of the parts. I tried a couple of ideas for a b-model, one of them being a dragster. I gave up on the dragster idea because the wheels did not look as I expected, and I was lacking the parts to build a proper engine. Then I started toying with the idea of building a slammer hot rod, and a couple of days later this came up:

I call it "B807" because its first overall shape looked much like a smaller version of 8070 B-model. I would've liked to share more WIP photos, but it all happened very fast! I built the basic shape&chassis this week after work, and I've been building&rebuilding almost all weekend. I used up almost all my beams from the a-model, and all I have left are a bunch of connectors, cross block pins etc.

The functions are HOG steering, and pneumatic doors. I may also add pneumatic rear hatch, but I'll have to try it after dismantling the telehandler. The engine is an (extremely) fake V10.

I'll stop building now temporarily because I'm having trouble building without the right colored pieces.

I'm waiting for a bl shipment to arrive with the second 1x11 cylinder. With that in place, I'm planning to do the final photo&movie shooting of the telehandler this week, and dismantle it afterwards. I'll continue building this next week.

The B model is already good and when the colors are coreted it have the same quality as the A model

Is the double-bevel gear on the back for the steering? If yes, I would maybe consider moving it somewhere on the top for playability. Maybe on the "trunk" somewhere to not affect the looks too much.

It looks like hotrod is instant choice for B model . Yours is very promising, in proper colour scheme it will be very nice. It's even better, cause make it from telehender is more complicated, then from just different car.

Yes, that double bevel is for steering. I wanted to have the steering on the roof or trunk, but unfortunately I don't have any more available bevel gears to make the 90 degree connection, so this will have to do for now.
