tsi Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Hi, My latest MOC is an old windmill, a smock mill, with a typical octagonal plan. The fantail (the small windmill mounted at right angles to the sails) at the rear of the windmill turns the cap automatically to bring it into the wind. ... the backside of the mill with a small well. The sails and the cap is fully rotatable. Here you can see the "round" octagonal design. ... the front side of the mill. Thanks for watching! ThomaS Quote
Iria Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 It looks fantastic! You've done a really good job with the conical roof. The fantail, well and farm animals are all nice touches as well. Quote
carebear Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Great Work!!! I love windmill's, and I really like how this one looks Greetings Quote
Kristel Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 The windmill is awesome! You've really nailed the roof, especially the shape and the way that you've incorporated the windows. The base around it doesn't do it justice though. Quote
neonic Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Looks great indeed Colors mix well too, and all the animals and stuff looks good. Only I the red waterpit looks a bit weird, brown or grey (stone) would be better imo Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Amazing! Something like this is worthy of being made into a set. I have always liked windmills and would love to see a Dutch styled one on the shelves some day. Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Great job, the roof is my favorite section. It's nice to see the farm animals you added! Keep up the good work! Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Wow this is the kind of stuff that I love! Perfectly done! Quote
tsi Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 (edited) Thank you to everyone who replied for your kind words, It´s nice to hear that you like this model! The windmill is one of my new models which will be integrated in my train layout, so the green baseplate was just temporary for the photo. thanks again & greetings ThomaS PS: Wow this is the kind of stuff that I love! (...) ... hopefully even more, when you hear that this is a 12V train layout too, here you can find some older photos my 12V arrangements Edited December 9, 2015 by tsi Quote
Moelli Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 I also like your windmill very much. Does it have an interior and is the top rotatable? Quote
KlodsBrik Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 This is beautiful. Im normally not a fan of using all plain baseplates, cause it just gives the builds a feeling of: I had to use this just to make my MOC stand, kind of thing. But using that old LEGO tree just makes it work totally perfect. Gives it a sort of notalgic feel to it. The mill is very well build and really reminds me of a few we have here in Denmark. Im trying to say that i love your MOC ! Quote
tsi Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 (edited) Thanks for yor comments! (...) Does it have an interior and is the top rotatable? Actually it doesn't have interior, but the the top is rotatable: I found a solution with a turntable on a lego cube. Greetings ThomaS Edited December 9, 2015 by tsi Quote
