Listening to Quintessa, the big man answers her,

"Intriguing, ye highness... Really! But I wouldst advice ye t' put on th' Hood so th't ye know what th' mouse say! 'nd ye wouldst know th't we art already on our way.

"Why would We do that, when We have three perfectly capable translators at Our disposal. We have never chatted with rodents before in Our lifetime, and We certainly are not going to begin now! ... No offense to our furry guide, of course."

The big man stopped walking and looked blankly on the elderly woman, he couldn´t get a word out of his mouth and he had a feeling of wanting to strangle her... but she wasn´t worth it and it wasn't really his style to do that to old women. So he answered her with a sarcastic tone,

"Aye, ye got us. Lucky ye... but ye know what. Look around ye, wh't do ye see? th's ain't thyne homeland, ye be not Queen herest! SO get thyne shit toogther..."

Then he turned and continued walking, he felt a bit bad for saying that to the old lady or not... Cause she needed to hear the truth.

The party's bickering comes to a halt for the moment when they encounter the next obstacle to their journey forwards:

dog_1.jpg

"Halt who goes there."

dog_2.jpg

"It looks like people to me."

dog_1.jpg

"What are our orders concerning people?"

dog_2.jpg

"They must not pass."

dog_1.jpg

"And why not?"

dog_2.jpg

"They can't be up to any good!"

cheapy.jpg

"But...I..."

The dogs move closer.

What will the heroes do?

"Hey, we don't want any trouble. Just let us through." Cree smirks, unsheathing blade. "Unless, of course, you want some." Cree then whispers to cheapy after picking him up and moving him away, "Would telling them of our dire situation and business with mr. Bontraparte do any harm to the mission?"

Posted (edited)

"What is this now again." he thinks.

"Wait a bit with he action, Cree!" and motions to the knight to sheet his sword for now. "Keep Cheeky safe but so that the dogs can see him and hear him." He then steps forwards against the dogs and replies to them with a calm but strict voice.

"Calm now, We be here on a very important mission 'nd we don't wan't ye no harm. But we be in a hurry, I do not knowst wh't ye be guardin' but we need to pass th's place! Ye see th't mouse with th' knight, his master be waitin' for us!"

Kheyli places her hand on her blade. "Let us through," she says, unconvincingly. It seems she hadn't figured out intimidation yet.

Keliim asks Cheapy, "Ye knowst th's dogs? One wouldst think when ye art leadin' us to ye master, 'nd ye knowst th's place, right? Then ye wouldst know why they be here 'nd what they be guardin'!

"This is Mister Bonaparte's office right behind there. I have to admit that I've not been working for Mister Bonaparte all that long, but I don't recall seeing these guard dogs..."

dog_2.jpg

"Shut up, you fool. Claiming to work for Mister Bonaparte indeed!"

dog_1.jpg

"You must be one of those new recruits. I knew we shouldn't have trusted the likes of you to come down here. It was only a matter of time before you'd lead humans down here to destroy us all."

dog_2.jpg

"We should finish them off right quick, Lem!"

dog_1.jpg

"Um...Gus, they're armed."

dog_2.jpg

"Crap! They're here to kill Mister Bonaparte, no doubt. They must be the hired hands of some of them farmers."

dog_1.jpg

"We should warn Mister Bonaparte."

Do the Heroes have anything to say or do?

Keliim whispers to Cheapy, " 'nd he ist waitin for us, right!"

Then he continues speaking to the dogs in a calm but strict voice, "Aye, we mean no harm. IF ye dogs art guarddogs for Mr Bonaparte, One of ye canst go tell him th't th' Heroes from Heroica he sent for art here!"

"We do not understand any of this!" Quintessa exclaimed, having had enough listening to the barking and chirping. "Why has the Bonaparte recruited a bunch of street dogs and sewer rats to serve them? Does not that strike anyone else as odd?"

Keliim answers with a grin but still keeping his eyes on the dogs and not moving a muscle, his right eye twitching."Aye, ye can say th't again!... Something stinks 'nd bad...

"So that you can murder him as soon as I turn my back? Fat chance!"

Using Diplomacy, Cree says, "We were hired by mr. Bontraparte. If you really don't believe us, do what Keliim says and send one in."

The guards pause, thinking the situation over. Somehow, Cree's unthreatening manner assuages their fears.

dog_2.jpg

"You go in and inform Mister Bonaparte. I should be more than capable of holding them off if they should try something foolish."

Lem disappears for a few seconds and then reappears.

dog_1.jpg

"It appears he did send for them himself."

dog_2.jpg

"Odd, to say the least. Are you sure he wasn't affected by some spell?

dog_1.jpg

"He seemed in his right mind."

dog_2.jpg

"Well, heroes, if that's what you are, you may pass. I warn you that if you try anything foolish, we will shred you to pieces before you know what's happening."

Cheapy nods importantly

"Let's go then."

Update coming soon. Suspenseful pause.

"Aye, lead on."

Then big man speaks to the dogs with his calm voice as he walks by them. "Good guarddoggies, bet ye master ist proud of ye." And then he takes some of his pet direwolfs spare over dog treats from his pocket and drops it close to them.

"Probably poison."

The heroes follow Cheapy through the open door behind the guard dogs and are greeted by a rather strange sight.

8.png

The large pig in front of them rises and speaks in perfect common,

bonaparte.jpg

"Greetings, heroes of Heroica! It is a pleasure to host you here. Forgive the mess. I am not in the place that I would like to be at present. Excuse my guard dogs. They are given strict orders to prevent the entrance of any strangers. I do hope you can find it in yourselves to pardon their rude mannerisms. They have not been trained by the kindest of masters, but that is why they work with me to bring about my vision. ...But I know you must be brimming with questions, so let me not make my introductions too long. Yes, in case you were wondering, I am your employer; Mister Pemo Bonaparte himself."

Cheapy scuttles about nervously.

cheapy.jpg

"Will that be all, Mister Bonaparte?"

bonaparte.jpg

"For now, yes, though I will need you later on, so don't be too far from here."

Cheapy exits the room.

bonaparte.jpg

"Now, where were we? Ah, yes, any questions?"

Posted

Keliim looks at the pig with big eyes and states. "Th's explains th' stin.... why th's all felt strange!"

The big man is quiet for awhile

"Pemo Bonaparte, ye said yer name was?!"

Posted

"We are delighted to make your acquaintance", Quintessa said courteously, hiding her disgust over the stench in the room perfectly like only a woman raised in a royal court knows how. "We only inquire about the task you have instilled upon us. You wrote that your people are in dire need of rescuing, yes?"

Posted (edited)

The big man listens to the three others and agrees on the part with the job and nods. But he also have more questions for this character that needs answering.

But he also could understand that out of the party, they were just here for the job, didn´t put much thought about how this Were pig fellow was a Bonaparte maybe Keliim had been in Eubric the longest and by that had some more knowledge about the different houses.

And also that thing with that he had some personal unfinished issues with House Bonaparte that needed to be taken care of. And now it seemed that this fellow here was maybe the wrong kind of Bonaparte he was looking for, so he needed some answers.

"Quite right. Quite right."

And also that thing with that he had some personal unfinished issues with House Bonaparte that needed to be taken care of. And now it seemed that this fellow here was maybe the wrong kind of Bonaparte he was looking for, so he needed some answers.

"I am sorry if I am not the Bonaparte you were expecting. Cheapy offered to use his name for the notice in the hall, but alas, few heroes would have accepted a quest from someone with a name like Cheapy and we had to attract interest because of the direness of the situation.

"We only inquire about the task you have instilled upon us. You wrote that your people are in dire need of rescuing, yes?"

Bonapare throws out a paw to the queen.

bonaparte.jpg

"The pleasure is mine! I should have known heroes would want to get down to business at once. Ahem! Let's see here. Where to begin? ...

"...Ah, well, yes, um...you see. Many years ago. I'm not sure how long exactly. Some people, forgive me that I don't know what exactly they were, I never found out...they could have been alchemists, they could have been wizards...but they attempted to store a human mind in an animal head. The reason for doing so was so that they could have a few animals watch over their farms, which would prevent them from needing to pay workers, and they could enjoy the produce without the many limitations most farmers face. There was more to it, of course, than that, I believe, but that much seems true. Another version is that someone was trying to bred an army and it didn't work out so well, so in the end we were just sold to local farmers, but I cannot say for a fact.

"In any case, after many failed experiments with other farm animals, they finally succeeded to a certain degree with, as you may have guessed by now, me. It's a strange tale, but from the time I was young, I found myself working on a farm, helping the farm communicate his instructions to the animals and looking over the farm for him when he was too lazy to do anything.

"It was a torrid experience! Not only did I slave away for nothing, due to my master's teachings, I learned of his intentions. I understood when he meant to slaughter animals for sacrifices or feasts and I stood by and watched as he dealt punishments on disobedient animals. Such cruelty!"

A tear wends its way down Bonaparte's face.

bonaparte.jpg

"The farmers didn't realize that with my mind, came emotions. They thought I was some lifeless beast, but I knew I could feel. What was more, I knew what the animals were feeling, but I could do nothing. All I had learned all my life was how to serve. But then, things changed. I learned things from conversations and from watching my masters. I knew for long what I felt in my heart to be right or wrong, but now I knew that I could do something about it and, furthermore, it would not be difficult to do, if I could only gather the support.

"I made my intentions known to some of the animals, but instead of supporting me, they cast me away for fear that the masters would destroy them all if they followed my plans. I wandered the countryside for a long while, until I finally met up with another one just like me. Pimky is his name. Together we planned together how we would rescue our people from the tyranny of their oppressors.

"Unfortunately, all of our greater efforts were in vain. However, we did manage to to find many among the groups who believed our philosophy and thought it possible. My guards, Gus and Lem, are among those, as is Cheapy. Many plans have been laid, but there is one final step. The animals need to believe that they can seize this freedom. They need to know that they are not alone in their fight. That is why I've hired you. The animals will want to see humans who understand my vision and know it to be true. Furthermore, they need a sign, that is the main reason for your purpose here.

"Now, your first assignment will be to head to the meeting of animals from a farm near here. You will have to show your "loyalty" to the cause, for their sake. After that, you will meet with Pimky himself and he will fill you in on the details of how to acquire this "sign" that the animals seek. He knows about that sort of stuff more than me, you see.

"So...any more questions?"

"Well, I can relate to you there. We mopags haven't been the most admired in eurbric. I'm ready to do whatever it takes to free your people. But may I ask, How is your last name bontraparte when the bontrapartes are human, or are you just faking it?"

Remembering the things and devilish experiments done to himself, he could sence the pain in the figures words.

"Cruel story, 'nd Aye ofcourse we willst help."

"But what is a name exactly? A name is just a label we put on people. I call myself Bonaparte. Am I wrong to do so? My masters gave me no name. They thought that I was just an intelligent pig, but a pig like all the others. They did not know. Naturally, when I became...independent, I had to find something to call myself by, so I chose Bonaparte. Why? I don't know. Some may even say that I had a Bonapartic mind in me. Who can say? But here I am. I hope my choice of name does not offend you. Besides, it turned out to be helpful for my gathering recruits."

"Ye said "but they attempted to store a human mind in an animal head. , what kinds of people art th'se? I knowst ye said ye don't remember correctly but they be still out th're? Ye habt been human once, then?"

"They most definitely are still out there. And one day I hope to find them and demand answers, but, unfortunately, that day is not today. I would like to see the looks on their faces when I stand over them and they see what they have...erm...spawned. Maybe on that day I shall even recruit you to help so you can ask whatever questions you wish, but...that is for another time, another day. I do not know whether my mind was ever...uh...alive?...before it was put in my body. I certainly don't remember it. Perhaps it was just the mind of an infant. I cannot say. But I do not that it took some years for me to be 'tutored' if you could call it that."

Posted (edited)

"Alright th'n, thank ye Pemo. I don´t habt any more question at th's time, does anyone else?"

ooc:*waiting for others questions, ask away if you have. after that:*

"If not, th'n Pemo. How shall we proceed from here, ye talk'd 'bout th' Farm!"
