I figured that would be one of the advantages to them acquiring BL, but instead we largely lost the ability to buy 3rd party and modified bricks. Quote
Fuppylodders Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Wonder if it's worth phoning up CS and asking them straight up why they don't enforce it? And as they now own BL, they are in a perfect position to enforce it... Quote
MKJoshA Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 I've had issues with checking out of B&P for the last few weeks. I've refreshed my settings, cleared cookies and cache, tried logging out and filling my cart before logging back in... everything! I've manged to get orders in, but it's been a huge mess and I've lost my cart multiple times before finally getting checked out. I hope Lego fixes that soon. Quote

I second this. I get an error message every time I submit a BnP order. Refreshing & then going to my shopping cart seems to load the order into my cart. Quote

They will go fast if people buy 100 of them. I mean these are big pieces. It’s not like buying 100 1x2... call them and place an order for them. They’ll tell you they are back ordered, tell them you don’t mind waiting. I have done this a few times. 1 hour ago, Anonknee Muss said: When you see the error page, just refresh the page, it should then take you straight to your cart. I confirm that this has worked for me. I'm no seller but I don't like the idea of Lego hunting people, + there are other platforms (Brickowl) to sell on. Lego can easily do something to stop scalpers: produce more. You can't buy reindeers because they're out of stock? Lego can just produce more, buyer happy, scalpers left with stock that no one wants anymore, and won't do it again. Now the question is where's Lego's interest here? Selling to scalpers is pretty much the same as selling to legit resellers, except they make even more money on it. Why would Lego be against this? And btw, perhaps the 2-cents parts in gold, that apparently keep popping back, still at 2 cents, by know it seems clear that it's not a mistake. And with Lego owning BL, perhaps it was just a test for them, to check how flooding the market reflects on Bricklink (or perhaps that really was done to hunt for BL resellers, but that'd be pretty lame). If you check 61678 in gold on BL, the price is very low. It has been scalped, a lot, some sellers have thousands of them. Now check the price for the 1x2 slopes in gold, it's not the same thing at all. So: flooding the market, that's the solution. Edited January 20, 2021 by anothergol Quote

There's obviously the 200 per piece limit and they could conceivably reduce the limit on certain parts like reindeer. But, I'm a little inebriated. Someone else tag in! Quote

When they purchased BL, LEGO specifically said that they will not use it to identify resellers and ban them from purchasing. If LEGO wanted to restrict the number of items you can buy on a per item basis they can do it. That they choose not to suggests they don't care. Quote

Like you said the solution is probably to produce enough so that every one who wants some can get some. (Now I know that this can be complicated to establish but they do probably have a history of what pieces ends up selling more than others to guide them) Then no need for scalpers to buy the pieces. I have bought 1000s of the 2cents pieces myself and very happy to have been able to. I plan a massive wall project with them. I think that the 200 limit is a good thing and I don’t believe that making more limitations is a good idea. Imagine you have a road project and you need tiles and lego says: sorry you have reached the maximum of 100 pieces per address. Lots of people would be unhappy. scalpers will continue to sell as long as people buy. If they get stuck with 1000s of dollars in reindeer, they might reevaluate what they are doing. serioulsy we have a good service with B&P. Yes it’s annoying that things go out of stock. If you really want something, call and place an order for the piece saying that you know it is on back order and don’t mind. I do it often and it works and mine always get shipped before they even show up as in stock. I tell you this from experience in other fields. Having a service like this is rare, we are very fortunate. Complaining too much or giving too many ideas about how a service can/could/should be can have the opposite effect of what we want. The service company could end up thinking: ok whatever we do people are not happy then let’s close this. Believe me I’ve seen it and had to make it happen before. I think that is great that we have this forum to tell each other what is available. Of course some will take advantage of it. If something is available and you really want it buy it right away. I know it’s not ideal for everyone, I understand that, but the idea of waiting for all the pieces that you want are available before you make an order is just not going to happen. 7 hours ago, koalayummies said: Oh yeah. Now check the price for the 1x2 slopes in gold, it's not the same thing at all. So: flooding the market, that's the solution. It wouldn't be a new thing for a company to do. I'd fully support if they did, because there's a difference between buying some to make a profit and living on, then there's being absolutely greedy minded to stupidly inflate the prices because you're buying the whole stock and fking everyone else over in the mean time for your own selfish needs. Sure, capitalism, but doesn't justify it. Your solution is to 'just produce more'? Have you even looked on the website recently, at the amount of back orders, out of stock items? And that wasn't even just happening because of covid, it had started before then. Covid just exacerbated it tremendously. Would it solve the issue? Sure as hell would. But TLG aren't int he game to produce more than is required or theyll get leftover stock. Which means storage space is required, and it pushes further away from being a liquid asset. So to them, it's not beneficial. To us, sure as hell, yes! But given the circumstances, it just won't happen. Seeing as they got restocked, it appears they are aware and fitting it in when they can. Would be awesome to have the scalpers with a crap ton of reindeer they can't shift though, and literally, everyone wins. TLG sold loads, we all get ours, and scalpers bought some too It would be much easier to impose a much lower limit, and as for hunting people who massively buy to scalp, i'd say only be hunting those that are taking it to the extreme and being blatant about it. It really does go to show TLG truly don't care. Is anyone aware of when it was previously in stock? Quote

What, you want the biggest toy company in the world to have a basically-functional website? What a strange thing to fantasize about! I end up taking piles of cart screenshots; that's the kind of barbarism I'm reduced to, by Lego's digital incompetence. They're wizards in ABS, but cavemen when it comes to silicon. Quote
Eleric Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Just producing more will kill Bricklink. If you sort through used bulk or part out sets you will really make money only on about 5-10% of parts because they are not common. All those parts 3-5 cents each are not profitable, bricklink sellers make barely minimal wage as it is. Better solution for parts and pieces in my opinion will be to introduce smarter limits, maybe by lot total price or brick type. If you are builder I can see the need of buying 200x bricks but not 200x deers or torsos. Quote
