Does anyone know if the temporary closing of the services increases the regular waiting time for an order? I ordered on the 11th of December, it's the 19th now and the order status still says "In Warehouse". :look:

The same thing happens to me each time I order. Just shoot them an email and let them know the situation and they should get back to you in a day or two. The order status will change a little while after they reach you and then in a few days you should get the parts. The holidays might affect the timing but the closing won't.

Newbie Question:

Are these parts made by a company other than Lego and using the same quality materials and manufacturing process as Lego standards? Are these parts that Lego themselves do not design and produce?

They're just Lego parts made by Lego. The Bricks and Pieces site is part of customer service which allows you to order parts that might be missing from a set you've recently bought. As an extension of that they allow you to BUY certain bricks and minifigure parts which are from those sets which is why the B&P section of the site requires searching mostly from set numbers. No custom or third party parts are available there.

Thanks for the info. So can you order all the necessary parts to make your own specific character mini figure for a decent price? Can you order all the parts of a set but in a different color scheme for a similar cost as the normal set?

Posted

Sets in parts are always more expensive than sets bought as sets.  You can buy most current pieces in most current colors.  Though the prices are on average more expensive than pick-a brick online or bricklink and licensed parts are seldom available.

Also... with regards to minifigures, the halcyon days of almost all the parts of a figure being available seem to be gone. Recently you've been able to pick up the odd torso, legs or hair but not whole figures. It was only 18 months or so ago and we were able to buy the parts to make full figs from both Licensed and Star Wars sets (although ever ALL the figures in a set) but now we're limited to various items. Things such as capes are never in stock either.

I guess that's a good way to encourage people to buy the sets for the mini figures regardless of how uninteresting the rest of the set is.

I looked around Pick-A-Brick and didn't see any good mini figure parts. I'm guessing in store build a mini figure are also lacking good parts. I'd have trouble finding good parts to make one mini figure, nevermind making 3 for $9.99.

I'll probably end up buying a mediocre set for Boba Fett or wait if maybe Star Wars comes to Lego Dimensions.

Lego is well aware of course that a lot of people are in it for the minifigs. And that these people will buy mediocre sets just to get hands on a fig they love, so businesswise it would be a bad decision to sell those pieces via bnp.

Still i like the fact that we're able to buy stuff from there.

What is the shipping cost for Bricks & Pieces orders?

Still $2.95  as far as I know. It's a flat rate. Takes a couple weeks to get your parts, and I think B&P is closed for a bit right now.

I hope the the dual molded legs are added back after the break. I REALLY need Katana's gry/red molded legs.

I think those would be a lot cheaper to order from Bricklink.

Last I checked BL didn't have any.

Right, but they might get some and they'd be cheaper there most likely. Double molded arms and legs and Friends figure parts are crazy expensive on B&P.

That sure is true! I wanted to buy this hairpiece (from 41134: Heartlake Performance School):

But then I discovered that it had a price of about 10€... *huh* Really a bummer, as it is such a nice piece and I felt lucky to find it on B&P.

Btw, here's my latest order, just before the winter hiatus started:

That´s some awesome pieces. I could surely find good use for them.
Looks quite expensive for that hairpiece. Wait for it to show up on BL .. You should be able to get it cheaper than that.

Very nice. Where is that Silver Haz Mat suit from? I don't remember ever noticing that figure in a set?

It's from 60124 Volcano Exploration Base from this summer.  I picked one up too in August I think. I was impressed at how quick some of the new pieces from the summer wave ended up on B&P.

So B&P is back online. Quite a lot added, and as usual, nothing available. Except for some new tiles from the latest big modular, like 2x2 quarter round tiles for cheap enough.
