Its also possible that the perceived differences in the images for the two elephant trunk piece part numbers are just that, digital rendering differences with the newer part simply having a more accurate render or rendered from a slightly different angle.

Yeah I thought of that too... it just that the “neck” near the “stud” is really longer and more straight on the 80497 part. Someone I am talking with over on IG made a good point. The “old/actual” pet is not really in system and doesn’t align well in some uses. He made a quick build to demonstrate this. But by making the piece slightly longer it would work. Anyways we will see:). I just want to buy it:)

But n another note... I just placed an.... hum.... expensive order. *huh*

You know that the click-hinge plates can be had for about a tenth the cost on BrickLink, right?

But yeah, ouch on the glow-in-the-dark plates. I won't decide to build any substantially-glow-in-the-dark MOCs until I'm a rogue billionaire!

Does anybody perhaps have some insider info on the parts on the orange spaceman like why they were available for a brief period before disappearing into “no results” upon searching with the part ID?

They might have been sold in error especially since they were a book exclusive minifigure. Although saying that, they were available for LUGBulk 2020.

Perfect convenience; I wanted some Black Falcon shields as I'd not remembered to order them when I phoned in for Black Falcon torsos and legs. And that was the time they pulled the switcheroo on me after the call, and I didn't end up with any Cyber Drone heads either. So I ordered (among other odds and ends) a dozen Black Falcon shields and twenty Cyber Drone heads. Now all the things on my wish list are things that haven't been for sale at all yet, I reckon...

Too bad there aren't enough parts from my wish list for sale right now for me to be able to justify an order (given the high shipping costs to Australia)

I feel for you man. How much is the shipping?

B&P shipping is $15 to Australia. If it was $3, there would be a lot more orders. Otherwise order enough to meet free shipping threshold of $149 as long as there is a set order like a Xtra polybag included in the order alongside B&P.

That's awful! It's £2 in the UK which is $3.59 AUD. Wasn't the threshold for y'all like $200 at some point?

Yeah and it's $2.50 USD plus a bit of tax depending on state to the US. LEGO's operations in Aus/NZ pretty much suck and I never buy sets from them directly because they make it so not worth it.

Since December 31st I've placed three B&P orders - one larger ($100) one to where I actually live in Australia, followed by two small ones to relatives in the US when parts I wanted became available. Both US ones have shipped and the first was already delivered. The one to Australia still hasn't shipped 6.5 weeks later.

But I digress. This is the cool parts thread, not the regional whinge thread. I look forward to seeing what I even ordered in the Australia order, because at this point I've forgotten!

Oh wow! Will we get a peek at your order when it arrives?

Yeah of course. I might even do an "unbagging" video to document my surprise at what I bought myself.

Haha great idea! I look forward to it. I always forget to post my pictures, I will attempt to remember with my next order when it arrives. Nothing spectacular though, some pieces to complete my phase 1 prototype plus a couple of minifigure pieces whilst I remembered.
I keep forgetting to buy the red whips, anyone else managed to buy them?
