I was recently moving some of my sets and disassembled my Temple of Airjitzu which had been assembled in a display case since I bought it in 2015. Big mistake, as the big reddish brown wedges that make up the floors cracked right to hell. Is it fair to request new ones after all this time? (The piece did come in a 2022 set). I don't know if it's fair to do it, that's why I asked an internet forum, rather than chatting with LEGO customer service, which has the actual answer. My large reddish brown wedge from that set has also broken a bit, but it's a hairline crack, so I'd forgotten about it. It also has a sticker on, which would be annoying to try and replace. Sigh about brittle reddish brown and brittle dark red. Quote

I was putting the hypothetical out to the forum too, but since LEGO semi-guarantees the quality of its products (which should theoretically last almost forever), this isn't regular wear and tear (bite or play marks etc), and I bought the set myself new when it came out, I think it is kind of fair. My large brown wedges got smashed to bits just taking the set apart, that's how brittle they were. I could theoretically try to rebuild the set with the pieces of them given how they cracked, but they aren't really usable. I never applied the stickers. We're getting well off the actual topic though. Quote
eldiano Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 (edited) Ehhhh the reddish brown problem was addressed back then by filing a problem with your Lego set through the website with All your bricks and they got replaced no questions asked, they still do it, the only problem is availability of course. Some pieces got taken down so now you have no choice but to buy them. Elements I’d and designs Id that’s why. So to sound less confusing, my bad i was typing on my phone, LEGO had a program replacement in place for those type of bricks that you could legit go to the website section of help missing/bricks or broken bricks and request the number of needed brown bricks from all the sets that were affected at the time and they would had sent replacements no questions asked. The problem was that from 2010 to 2017 LEGO changed some design and element Id’s of some brown bricks therefore making them not available on a specific catalog or set from that period, that just meant you had to purchase at that rate but you could get as much as you could and buy minimal replacement bricks. The biggest problems was the mini figures because some legs and torsos did crack and break and sadly, no replacement was ever offered. I managed to replace my entire pirates of the Caribbean AND lego kingdoms brown reddish bricks from that time period because I left them assembled for years and when i took them apart for a move and placed them in storage, just taking them apart with a brick separator caused them to break and crack in all sorts of places, the horror and disaster i dodged! I'm sure they will gladly sending you a few a year and you won't need to lie. I feel bad when Lego sends a padded letter accross europe when one part is missing from my order, though. When it happens and I wasn't waiting for the part I tell them I'm ok with points for the same value (like it's common practice on Bricklink), but they send the part anyway... Stuff happens😬😬 Companies get discounts on shipping supplies, that padded envelope and service they use was worth less than the price of the sticker sheet and shipping plus taxes you would had ended up paying for the points they would had given you. I know Lego sends for cheap, but a little part has nearly zero value, there's no doubt that the processing+shipping costed way more and wasted way more resources. I find it silly when you order frequently enough and you can just add it again to your next order instead. (that said, talking about B&P missing parts, I don't understand how simply weighing the bag of parts (Lego certainly knows the precise weight of each part) wouldn't fix the problem) Quote

Then last time they gave me a hard time and I sent a rather passive aggressive email back. I got all the pieces. Now there are so many scratches on pieces I need to do multiple orders a year. The price of Lego is going up anyways. Don't be afraid to ask. Otherwise there are even more iffy ways to get what you want that Lego will like even less. Edited January 13, 2023 by Maple Quote

I heard it has something to do with BPA (?) plastic, which causes cancer when eaten, being regulated more in Europe so Lego switched to a new plastic. However I also thought people said it was on trans pieces and I had several solid color pieces with scratches. So I request a new piece for EVERY scratched piece and if that's ones scratched I do it again and again and again. If LEGO doesn't like that then fix the darn issue. *End of rant* Quote

Happy_Lego_Guy Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 Weird. Now this popped up a little bit ago. I want the rest of the Summer stuff too Quote
jodawill Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 The queen's shield was also available for a very brief period. Quote
eldiano Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 From the CMF series? I’m confused by what they are doing, so far no space parts but they dropped but 10305 visir and the cmf’s the shield was part of both, but I suspect the only thing missing is the small stuff, either way that female torso is not popping under the 10305 set anyways 🤔 Quote

eldiano Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 I’m mad because I have been checking religiously every day since November and I miss it. I can wait because at the end of day once demands sizzle they will be in stock as usual but I have no idea what’s LEGO with their site. Quote
MKJoshA Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 Seems like Lego is accidentally adding parts and then pulling them when they catch the oversight. That's my guess. Why would 1 or 2 random parts show up? I know it's a new system. But every other time Lego has added waves of parts. Not 1 or 2. My guess is the parts aren't being bought up but rather pulled until they get officially listed. Quote

To be fair the boxes shouldn't be smashed. I have only had one smashed box recently, the Valentine Day Ornament, so not a big deal, but if it was a $500 set I sure as hell would want a replacement or 10-20% back. 19 hours ago, Roebuck said: Maybe they conclude that you are a difficult consumer and ban you like the guy in my previous post I use the replacement part thing about 5 times in 20 years, until recently. It's really that simple. And honestly I'm sick of this weird way of thinking. LEGO ships the sets to a bunch of warehouses. They do so perfectly fine, they are in a nice box that fixes the expensive perfectly. They for some reason they are taken out of these boxes and shipped. If I order online I expect my things to come in good condition. Not everyone has ability of having a car, or even living near a LEGO store. Your elitism is disgusting to me. For expensive sets like the Lion Knights Castle, Ideas lighthouse, and Loop Coaster, I've had LEGO ship the packing box to me - so the set inside is perfectly fit and has been in pristine condition. Although some (maybe all?) of the modulars have come repacked. But many other sets are transported in boxes of multiple sets, so they have to repack them, and this is where some damage can occur - although I think it's only happened once to me - so it's probably down to your local courier, rather than LEGO directly. RichardGoring Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 I've been going through my parts wanted list to see if I have enough to place an order. Sadly, I don't, so still waiting for the new parts to be stocked. Searching through the website, sorting by new, I cam across the car doors in light yellow, which would be cool to make into a car and found that the left door (6400295) is 52c, compared to the right door (6400297) at 36c. What is going on there? I cannot understand why one side would be more expensive than the other. So bizzare. Quote

Well if you think of it, a Lego box has only one other purpose than containing the bags: to attract the eye on a shelf/present the set for someone to buy it. But when you buy online you don't need that, you've already bought it - unless it's a gift then I'd agree. But I'm pretty sure that most want pristine boxes for reselling later, which isn't a good reason to get angry when a box arrives dented IMHO. In fact, I wouldn't even mind Lego doing grey/simpler & more tightly packed (since the size doesn't have to reflect the price when you buy online) for Amazon or other online resellers. I'd even dig boxes without a manual if that reduces the price, as things have changed and we all have computers. Amazon should just put a sticker on a grey box and ship it. I've actually received Lego boxes like that, which isn't supposed to be a thing because the delivery guy isn't supposed to know what you're buying... 7 hours ago, RichardGoring said: I've been going through my parts wanted list to see if I have enough to place an order. It makes sense when only one side has been produced for a specific set, but for light yellow they both come from the same set. Quite possible that they set prices very loosely (afterall the price of a part is mostly profit & subjective) Edited January 16, 2023 by anothergol Quote
