I'll quote AUD prices for a moment but I was interested in purchasing an adult turtle and baby turtle from 60377 from PAB last year. I bring up the relevant PAB page and they're priced at $5.57 and $4.86 respectively. That's terrible value.

Interestingly both of the green turtles have come down in price since I purchased them. When I bought them in late 2023, they were both $4.02 USD. Now they're $3.44 for the large one and $3.01 for the small one. Maybe it's because they're bestseller now and weren't when I ordered them.

In any case, both of those prices are lower than the goat.

The cow went down in price after about a year. Still massively expensive though

It actually went down a little bit not long after release also after I and I am sure a lot of other people said it was way to high priced. So I am sure it helps to say that this is not OK prices on animals these days in a polite way to CS and of course vote with our wallets..

edit: I forgot to mention in approximately 3 months times don't expect the complete adult gorilla (3 pieces) from 60437 to be at all affordable, at least the baby gorilla and red panda are found it cheap sets.

I got the chance to buy the City Jungle sets at a very good price a couple of weeks ago and got one of each. However starting to regret I did not bought more at least of the gorilla set and kept the animals and tried to sell the sets for the same price, because they might be crazy high on PAB:wacko:

I bring up the relevant PAB page and they're priced at $5.57 and $4.86 respectively. That's terrible value. The previous tan/dark red baby turtle cost $2.45 AUD. The manta ray and hammerhead from the same 60377 set cost $4.54 and $5.99 ($2.35 body + $3.64 head). That's a total of $20.96 AUD for the 4 animals exclusive to that set. I elected to forgo the 2 turtles I wanted. Until I found set 60377 on clearance for 50% off and I paid $26.50 for the whole set. Obviously 50% off for City sets is not the norm but I got the turtles I wanted and a whole bunch of useful parts (and a useless boat hull) but there's no doubt in my mind that Lego want me purchasing complete sets and not cherry picking desirable parts from PAB.

When it is a rather small set with several animals like that it is probably better to buy it on discount to get them. However MTS is a D2C with only a lone goat and than that method do not work, if the set had all the animals it was supposed to on the other hand

This business with the goat prices makes me not want to mess with PAB at all. The after market price really shouldn't influence their own. They are the creators of the piece, if a bunch of goat sellers lose money that's part of the risk that comes with being a re-seller. The goat's price being that high tells me they looked at Bricklink and priced accordingly. They could have sold it way cheaper and still made more than enough to make a good chunk of change. It's very well known that people want the goat, it's almost become kind of a meme at this point. They could've made a lot of people happy AND made money, those two things don't have to be mutually exclusive.

It is not so much that resellers will lose money, but that they will control the market for a long time if the LEGO price is cheap (or even just reasonable). They could have sold it way cheaper but you will not get a look in, as resellers or people saying they really need 200 goats for themselves and friends, will continually wipe out stock even if they are per order limits.

The only way LEGO could really combat it without a high price is to have a reasonable not too high but not too low price and have maybe 50000 ready to go. That way, they shouldn't sell out as the appearance of constant availability puts off second, third, fourth orders of 200 at a time. Resellers can really only make quick money if the part goes out of stock, otherwise it is a case of long term storage for high profits or very small profits or just avoiding losses  if they buy parts that LEGO has continually in stock.

Have you actually ever seen this happen with a particular part?

People said it would be the case with the sheep. It wasn't.

People have said it would be the case with various of the new classic space helmets, but those two have had periods of time in stock, as far as I'm aware.

Genuinely curious. Personally I really don't think resellers abusing PaB is as real a thing as people speculate it to be.

I agree, most people shopping on BL I guess know if the parts are cheaper on PAB, so it really only make sense for BL sellers to stock up on parts they hope will be more expensive in the future when they disappear from PAB.. A lot of other sellers do the same so that will help the prices stay down as well..

Why surprised? We had some parts that were exclusive to GWPs at Pick a brick, such as the Blacktron Minifig but the majority of them isn´t avaiable really. So while there was a chance it could show up, I didn´t put to much hope into it.

And torso for white space an also shows up on PAB. I understand that he is suprised that dragon knight’s torso never shows up on PAB - I’m surprised to hear that too

Guess the initial shock of $5+ for the  grey goat wore off, as it is currently out-of-stock. Waiting patiently for the Wolfpack torsos to return. I’d rather snag 5 of these torsos than just one goat.
On a related note, anyone know the details for: CAPES MULTIPACK (4X CAPE NO.68, 1X NO.15, 1X NO.40)ID: 6433938/73518 ?
Listed for $8.48. I was unable to find out info on this. Any help identifying actual color(s) and types would be appreciated. Want to know if it is worth it or not. Thank you

No that's for sure the cape pack from Rivendell @BitByBrick. Four small capes in four colours, standard long cape in dark brown, single hole dark grey cape for Gandalf.

Each cape is individually listed with its own element and design ID, but they all have the same name of the multipack. That's just the particular part element and design ID for the standard long cape in dark brown.

As I said, it does happen that they show up, like the Blacktron did, but the majority of them doesn´t. I still do wonder why the blacktron did anyways, since it usually would just be produced for a short time and putting it at pick a brick would require logistic space over a longer time period - maybe there were plans to bring it in another set, that was canceled early in the design process? I guess we will never know.

The goat beeing out of stock isn´t really surprising. Sure the price is high, but did anyone really think that would stop people from buying it? Especially since it is still cheaper than on Bricklink.

When i bought that cape pack, I had it sorted under the 10332, it’s how I found the goat, for some reason a lot of lego pieces weren’t showing up under “newest” and out of stock, I had to manually find them through the set function.

I got lucky with the black tron sets, but even then the dragon torsos on BL were a bit cheap, what sucks is that shipping was ridiculous, but I was waiting for them to show up on PaB even though others swore up and down that it was a delay but what sucks is that it never happened.

I’m not surprised, even searching for GWP sets on PAB is impossible unless you type in the set number, because they do not show up with the name. Usually Lego is stingy with torso and pieces unless new sets are aimed at coming out.

Myself I’m not greedy because I only want a few torsos to diversify my lego sets but at the end of the day, I don’t know what changed with LEGO because PaB in 2021 was the greatest setup of all time to get extra lego pieces, ever since then it’s impossible.

I think what's going on is they have the dark brown cape's element and design ID linked to the multipack from Rivendell, and they have mistakenly added that to the PaB inventory for 10332, which does indeed include a dark brown cape, but doesn't actually include that multipack.

So yeah, whether you pick it having found in in the 10332 inventory or elsewhere, you'll get the multipack, but it is technically a "mistake" to have it in the 10332 inventory.

The capes in that set is weird, the manual has the cape pack listed incorrectly, the missing bricks listing has the same capes that popped up, the set has two capes that doesn’t show up digitally anywhere and the box has a totally different ID LOL 6488972 and only has the brown and black cape.  I completely overlooked that mistake because that 5 capes popped up with the new torsos and animals and the other cape is not the right id LOL.

My bestseller order from the first finally arrived! The Wolf torso, Lion shield and a couple farm civiles! My Goats get here Monday or Tuesday!

As much as we shit on PaB I’m just glad they switched the new torso to Bestsellers!

Nice my goats should be here this week with the rest of my best sellers parts.  I got 3 goats.  The rest of the torsos from the MTS that I ordered should hopefully arrive sometime in the next 2 weeks or so.

I ordered eight Wolfpack torsos and hoods which all arrived today too. All the rest are standard elements, so a while to wait yet. I'm holding out on goats being less expensive at some point in the future.

My second order of torsos are standard so I’m right up there with you on that one! Only the Wolfpack was bestseller from what I noticed!

I only got 5, I usually get 10 of everything but I’m on the same boat with waiting for the other 5. I like animals on my medieval sets and pirate ships. Fingers crossed!!

Nice!!! I love them already, I wanted these torsos more than the grey goat but still, I was busy trying to order different 10 pieces to make my medieval people diverse!

On the subject of GWP’s I think LEGO hates it when they rebuild them through PaB I certainly did, especially with the astronically expensive Harry Potter ones, I managed to get every single piece for the grand staircase and Gryffindor room through PaB. I had to type in the set numbers because they don’t pop up there automatically. I also got lucky from a Swiss seller that sold replica decals to complete the set, they look close to real lego decals though. The fence 1x4 in brown was sold out and I had Gold ones to fill in for a bit. Hell my next order is an extra Majisto Workshop, but what sucks as usual the dragon torso never came hehe.

I managed to score the torso from the Jane Goodall GWP a while back, that was nice.

That and the torso/head from the Amelia Earhart GWP.

It was even better in the more distant past. Licensed parts were fairly frequently added by mistake and only removed after a couple of weeks so were quite easy to get hold of. And loads of pricing errors giving free parts or very cheap parts (5p for some torsos, and so on). And very fast turn around.
