Tezclatipoca Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 (edited) Ah ? That's strange... Erh no, your ship can travel 4 zones (2+2) and I don't remember reading that on the rules of the MRCA! Is in the example Ska is giving in the rules the ship is doing a long run with just a speed of 2 ? I will check that. Edit : I checked the MRCA or MCRA (Ska used the 2) rules and did not see something making a link between zones you travel and speed. My bad on the example it's a speed 3 vessel that is doing a 4 zones travel so impossible to counter argue with this example. I think Ska could answer to that question. Is your ship is limited by its speed concerning the number of zones it can travel ? Edited January 29, 2016 by Faladrin Quote
Mike S Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 So the MCRA form says "Remember, your vessel can only travel through as many zones as it has speed +2." I thought speed had to do with how many ports a vessel can visit? Does it also limit zones? So if my ship has a speed of 2, it can only visit 2 zones? If it says that it is a mistake. Speed determines the number of ports that can be stopped at during a trade run. The only ships that cannot travel to unlimited zones are the speed 1 ships. Quote

I recycled the test form, where that used to be the rule before launch. There is no limit to zones right now, later on when the map is larger, there will be a limit on "regions" but for now, ignore it. Quote
Yzalirk Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I am thinking about joining Corrington some time in the future but I have a few questions: -Does your builds have to include a ship? (I do not think I can build ships.) -Does your character have to be a specific heritage? (For example, in Corrington, would you have to have a British character?) -What jobs can your character can choose from? -Can you also have multiple jobs? (For example, could you be a Merchant who is also an Inventor?) Quote
Sir Stig Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I'll answer as far as my understanding goes. I am thinking about joining Corrington some time in the future but I have a few questions: -Does your builds have to include a ship? (I do not think I can build ships.) You could always buy and licence a ship someone else have built.-Does your character have to be a specific heritage? (For example, in Corrington, would you have to have a British character?)As long as your story and allegiance fits into the corrington empire(or another faction if you should change your mind), I see nothing wrong with having another heritage. It's not like everyone in Britain are of british descent. -What jobs can your character can choose from? -Can you also have multiple jobs? (For example, could you be a Merchant who is also an Inventor?) You can have several interests and/or use side characters. You can read more about skills here:Character Development Skill Trees / Achievement System Quote
Puvel Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Hi Goliath, excellent choice of empire! - You don’t need to build a ship. Only for joining the MCRA you’d need a ship. You could just license someone else for that too. There are other ways to make dbs (if you want to join the economic system). Just creating free builds will earn you some money already. If you’d register your plantation, factories, houses, whatever you can get a monthly income out of that as well. You don’t even need to register anything if you just feel like building something now and then. - As far as I known your character does’t have to be from any specific heritage. - You can basically be whatever you want to be. There are a couple of jobs that would be illegal in Corrington, but I figure you’d be joining the Sea Rats if you felt like being a smuggler or something like that. - You can have multiple jobs as well, an inventor selling his merchandise would make perfect sense. I’d recommend making side characters later on so if you plan on having a lot of jobs though. Quote
Maxim I Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Just to make this clear: you have to ask permission of the owner (so buy the ship from someone) before you can licence someone else's ship :p Quote
Captain Dee Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 To reiterate: ships aren't required. You could freebuild to your heart's content and never touch a ship. Corrington isn't British, period. (And Oleon isn't French, etc) This is strictly a made-up world, so no worries about character heritage. Your character(s) can hold any job they want that fits the time period - basically 1500s to early 1800s. The technology in your builds should fit this time period; ie no steam power. But things like smuggling (as previously mentioned) might get your character in trouble! If you want multiple jobs then go for it - but you might want to have a story to go with it explaining what's happening. Quote
Tomsche Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 It might give some inspiration, but here is a list of (british) professions during that agem and how they where called. I`ve certainly scored some ideas from that already for some properties in the settlement The List Quote
SkaForHire Posted January 30, 2016 Author Posted January 30, 2016 Thank you for the information, guys! Just remember, this project is a little bit stricter than GOH, you will have to stick with your faction for a while, so make sure you are certain you want to join Corrington, or whoever you join, before committing. Ahah ! A bit stricter ?! I don't really see it stricter ! Seriously, if to change faction is more difficult I don't see it stricter. And I don't find the general rules so strict but I find them encouraging ! These rules gave me motivation to invest me more in my BoBS projects than in my GOH projects ! So thank you to be strict ! Captain Dee Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Yes... very strict indeed. I'm polishing my knee boots and oiling my whip as we speak... Actually I think the game mechanism should work pretty good for the ones interested in playing. Credit our leaders for a job well done. Quote

Things are indeed working and as far as i am concerned, i like it! But if things go the down way, expect some old blue vs red battling come around September (around then, comes LUGBULK) Quote
SkaForHire Posted January 30, 2016 Author Posted January 30, 2016 IT was nice to see red and blue torsos on Lugbulk this year. My LUG actually voted to order both, so I have a pretty big army coming! Quote
Captain Dee Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 IT was nice to see red and blue torsos on Lugbulk this year. My LUG actually voted to order both, so I have a pretty big army coming! Yeah, go ahead and rub it in for those of us who don't have access to a LUG!! When you say "pretty big army" are you talking high double digits, or triple digits, or what? I got a bunch of new blue torsos from B&P to add to what I bought in-store so I have enough of those for a decent army... but I'm a Corry! I don't have as many reds unfortunately so that LUG thing is tortuous to read about! Quote
SkaForHire Posted January 30, 2016 Author Posted January 30, 2016 Sorry! Well, I am an army builder, so I bought too many. My armies for both colors should now be in the triple digits. They will see the battlefield eventually in one of Scarst and I's call to arms battle, once we convert the rules to renaissance era. Before Bricks and Pieces shut for the winter(?) they did have red torsos. However, every time I ordered more than 10, they would cancel my order. I attempted to build a 50 man greencoat army, but they cancelled that over and over again as well, even when I ordered it in smaller denominations. Quote
Tomsche Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 We didn`t get them in our final selection :-) Quote
Captain Dee Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 ...My armies for both colors should now be in the triple digits.... My blue army is well into triples; not quite there with red... so I should just shut up and be happy with what I've got! Quote

blackdeathgr Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 It was strange redcoats and red lions (medieval) appeared for this year LUGbulk. I guess it was in order to lower their stock since there arent any more pirate lines on the horizon for the next couple of years at least. But i was more than happy they got added. Plus we somehow lobbied for them to get chosen . I ordered 50 bluecoats + 50 red, so along with some others i got, i can easily replicate a 70 vs 60 battle. But that's it. Nowhere near Gary's Waterloo MOC :) Next year i guess only bluecoats will be around?. Maybe this year they'll ship out the orders in reverse alphabetical order and it won't be September? We are on G from "Gricks" and we got them September last year . But i guess capital control in our country also played its part. Anyhow. They will eventually arrive! Quote
SkaForHire Posted January 30, 2016 Author Posted January 30, 2016 Maybe this year they'll ship out the orders in reverse alphabetical order and it won't be September? I heard a rumor that they were going to do it in reverse, but I can't remember where. But I digress, hopefully many people on here got a chance to stock up on parts for BoBS! Quote
Garmadon Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 My blue army is well into triples; not quite there with red... so I should just shut up and be happy with what I've got! You guys! If I have two of the same torso I'm happy Probably my biggest army where the soldiers look anything like each other is bluecoats since I was thankfully able to get one of those chess sets on a very nice sale late last year (a very nice set by the way, I think I'm set not to need any more black or white tiles for a couple decades! Whoops, I really shouldn't have said that - every time I do I run out of that piece the very next build ), But seriously, triple digits?! (And I don't want to know how many Ska has!) Are you guys ever going to use all those?! Quote

Let's leave it at too many since I haven't counted in a decade. I think both Red and Blue are under 100 though. I could be wrong. At some point I will try to display them all. Right now, there is just too much real life stuff to get done. Quote
