...Also.....how far "in the red" can one go with the bank to license properties/boats.....that is....if I obviously have the income coming in...how much can I spend against my earnings to license a larger project? ...

I can't answer your first question, but to this one: if you are keeping track of your earnings you may spend as much as you have. If you go over (literally in the red) you will be hung by your toes from a palm tree. pirate_laugh2.gif

Also, if you go over, you may be granted a line of credit should the leaders be feeling compassionate (in which case be sure to factor that in to the next months earnings!), or your licenses may be cancelled to the amount necessary.

Good question Celesaurivern ! I am quite sure there will be a new map for new MRCA this month but that's to be confirmed.

There is the end of the first challenge today, so the leadership team will have job to do... I hope they will be able to deal with all of that job !

Hi, I am a brand new member who only discovered your site on Sunday night, quite by chance. I then raced to complete an entry for Challenge 1A but have missed the deadline. I finished the model in good time but have had some trouble working out how to upload the photos. Would it be possible for me to get special dispensation for a 24 hour entry extension? I don't think my model will set anyone's world on fire (and the photos aren't great!) but it would be nice to be included. Yes, I know I am cheeky to ask! Also, I have not submitted my introductory sigfig MOC yet so I'm not actually sure if I am allowed to enter challenges before that (my sigfig is uploaded with his biography but not the larger intro diorama). If I can't enter for either of these reasons, could someone please explain how to submit it as a free build? I read the registration instructions but didn't really get it, sorry I'm not very technicaly minded and have never used a site like this before.

Many thanks and best wishes,

Fuzzy

Welcome Fuzzy Macfuzz pirate_satisfied.gif You're in for a treat. You could try to send a personal message to you faction leader to ask for an extension. Your sigfig registration counts, the introduction build earns you 25 dbs when you post it.

First: Welcome! pirate_laugh2.gif

As to the extension of the deadline, I am not authorised to give you a reply.

However, as soon as you have presented your sig fig in the faction thread, you are officially part of BoBS and can enter in the challenges. As to a larger intro diorama, you can check out how others did. (For instance mine: click here) Most people have done something similar.

If you want to take part in the economic game system (be awarded dubloons for it), you also have to register it as a freebuild trough this form. For the first two freebuilds each month, you get 10 db's and for the next, it is dependent on number of approvals. (To avoid people spamming low quality freebuilds for money). And while it might seem complex at first, it really is quite simple as soon as you understand the very basics.

As to pictures, I suggest setting up a flickr account - it is free and works fantastically. And sharing pics from there is fairly simple, as you simply paste in the BB-code from flickr in the text here (click the "share" button on your pics in flickr and choose the right size (around 800x600)). I am sure there are some guides somewhere here on EB.

Don't ever try to upload the pics directly here. It will make your soul burn for a prolonged time in hell and cost you considerable trouble and frustration. pirate_tong.gif (Plus, it won't really work...)

We are a very friendly society, and you are always welcome to ask. pirate_blush.gif

Hi Stig and Bregir, thanks for the great advice. Stig, I wil try and write to my faction leader now though it is nearly my bed time - I have work in the morning! (Its 10.30 GMT here) pirate_sing.gif . Bregir, I worked out the flickr thing eventually and found a good guide to it here on the site, I have not used Flickr before so had to start from scratch; all sorted now though pirate_classic.gif . One of the reasons I wanted to join was because it seems such a supportive and non-trolling community; neither my Lego nor my photography skills will be winning me any prizes but I intened to have some fun!

Supportive and non-trolling: Check

Trash-talking and sarcastic: Check too (Just so you are forewarned, but it's all in good humour, though ;) )

I'm am no Lego prodigy either but this (And Guilds of Historica) has really helped me improve by leaps and bounds. (Just check out the progress from my first builds on Flickr to my latest... ;) )

You are sure to get a lot of constructive feedback here, and there is a lot to learn from other builders too. :)

Indeed, prepare for thrashtalk (but he, we don't mean what we write  )

Anyway: welcome to BoBS!

@Bregir: don't be silly, you're a great builder :laugh:

Question: Are only licensed properties or all properties counted when determining the size of a settlement?

All properties count toward the settlement size, whether licenced or no pirate_wink.gif

If they are marked in a way so that they can be found by the Game Masters.

Technically it is all MOCs, but some of us won't approve recycled mocs just for new stories, there should be something significantly different and new about a MOC (We won't hold it against anyone if old MOCs are mixed in on a story)

A general note -- There is no rule saying that a small property licence cannot be attributed to a larger MOC, The plot sizes are more a guideline rather than a code. We reserve the right to reject MOC licenses that just don't fit, but feel free to build a small residence that is 20x20, or even 32 x 32.

Wait... you mean I've been wracking my brain over fitting small residences on 16x16s for nothing?

pirate_laugh_new.gif

I'm confused though. What on earth is the 16x16 requirement there for if it's neither a min. nor a max?!?

I build a scribe for Arlinsport, registered it as a free build and filled out the license form.

Does the licensing fee get deducted from my account at the end of the month or is there some kind of money transfer form I have to fill in as well?

I know there is a form to transfer to another player, not sure how it works for licensing

By filling out the license form you have essentially deducted the right amount from your account. You don't have to fill out a transaction form.

As Ska said, it is a guideline, so we have an idea of what is expected. I mean, you have no advantage in building larger (since it is not a challenge where you need to impress anyone) so why limit you. You might build a property with a groundfloor of 15x18, but build a whole street around it. Or build a warehouse with a house outside stockyard as well.

However, if you build a 10x10 a claim it to be a medium sized property, I am somewhat certain someone is going to react pirate_wink.gif
