blackdeathgr Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Whoa, easy on the monopoly stuff! They are here for lore/flavor purposes only. It would break EGS if everybody would create/invent monopolised trade goods. Let it stay as it is for the foreseable future please. Quote
Garmadon Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I think you might have a conflict of interest here, Garm! True - but the ETWC has a good deal of control in the Old World, and the king is not really that happy with what grew out of his last granted monopolies, so that only adds more in game reasons against it Anyhow, overall Blackdeathgr is completely right Oh, and congrats on your new title, Bregir! SkaForHire Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 When you redo for the contest scores, could you also adjust for 1st properties? It appears I was charged for both my factory (25db) and residence (5db) when my factory was my first property and thus shouldn't cost anything. There wasn't anywhere on the webform to mark that though. I believe there were a few other people who had the same issue. Thanks! This shouldn't have happened, because I should been adding your name in for the first time and gave you the 25 off like I did others, I must have missed that -- send an adjudication form, and just remember you have the 25DBs to spend. Since my "next monthly income" field is empty, does that mean that there was some error when I licensed my small house? And my total seems to be missing my contest score? The contest scores are missing, and I looked for the license for that house and could not find it, I thought maybe you didn't license it? What's the odd a trade company loses 3 ships in 2 months? :p I think its an Oleon conspiracy. On monopolies, remember, these are technically only the right to carry these goods within your own empire. So technically, those traders that don't stop by their own nation's territory probably shouldn't be making monopoly money! Also, I need to adjust the license form so you can denote that the property is changed by a monopoly value. I caught some of them going in, if I did not catch yours, send a adjudication form. Finally, Monopolies are something unique to Eslandola, they grant high profit. If we establish a monopoly in another nation, the profit rate would probably not be as high. Eslandola launched with one of their special features, Corrington and Oleon did not.( SRs have their half off). Corlanders will have extra income from science and technology properties, while we still have not established exactly what Oleon's special ability will be. Quote
Capt Wolf Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Regarding the BoBS Scorecard: It looks to me like "total feb yield" is the sum of my end of January cash and my February income (excluding the challenge awards) but does not reflect my February expenditures for licenses and such (even though my licenses are reflected in my projected next month income). Is that a correct reading? Quote

Captain Dee Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 (edited) Begging your pardon, Don Isaac Montoya. What was intended as a light-hearted jab was apparently mistaken as an insult. Of course you are vastly superior company to that "infernal lubber" who shall remain unnamed, and unlike him, your business skills go unquestioned. Sir Dee is not a dueling man and nevers carries a sword after accidentally tripping the Governor and his wife into a fountain at a formal banquet. I offer this humble apology for your consideration. Fuzzy MacFuzz Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I am seeking some clarification on the building and licensing rules please. I am currently building a large (48x48) MOC of the outskirts of Port Raleigh. In keeping with my sigfig's profession of architect, this MOC will contain both a stone quarry and a window glass factory. Both will cover at least 16x16 studs and so qualify as a 'small' building. Ideally, I would like to license both of them, once my cash allows. So I want to know: 1) Can I license two separate buildings that are in the same MOC? Or do I have to choose just one of them? 2) Can I license two buildings that are in the same free build post? Or do I need to submit two separate free build posts, each focussing on one of the two buildings? 3) Once I have posted the MOC as a free build, how long do I have to find the cash to license the building/s? I would be very grateful if someone could advise me on this. Thank you! Quote
dr_spock Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 1. So basically you have two different types of property MOCs sharing the same "48x48" base? One is a quarry type, the other is a factory type. 2. You should submit two separate freebuild posts, each focusing on one of the two buildings. You can add a picture or two to show off the entire 48x48 layout. 3. There is no time limit when a property has to be licensed after submitting the freebuild. Note: there are setup fees for mines (quarries) in the EGS and staking claims. Quote
Captain Dee Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I have a question I should've asked at the very beginning because the answer will determine my level of future participation. Do the mine rules apply to everyone or only to those individuals participating in gameplay? Can I set up an unlicensed mine freebuild wherever I want, with the understanding that it will remain unlicensed, and depict the following stages of activity in like manner, or is that whole process limited by the rules in the economics topic? Specifically I want to build an iron mine and limestone quarry, and then depict a start-to-finish process of a certain product. But I'm not interested in setting up a mine and realizing at the end of the month it's copper or something which would do me little good. If non-gameplay mines are subject to these rules I'll take the whole project to the other subforum... Quote

Everything I have read in the rules and every answer I have seen indicates that you can freebuild anything anywhere. The EGS system can only set boundaries for itself. Quote
Fuzzy MacFuzz Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Dr Spock, thanks for answering my query so clearly. And Captain Dee, here is the answer to yours (from the Corrington Sign-up page): '8. There seem to be lots of restrictions as to what can go where in the Economic Game System. I've chosen not to participate in the EGS; do I have to worry about these restrictions? Nope! You're quite welcome to build whatever wherever as long as you are considerate of other players and any story lines they may have in operation.' So you are good to go with whatever build you like; I look forward to seeing your Lego version of the industrial revolution! Quote
Mike S Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Aiden Coyle is hoping to establish a rock quarry on Tiberia. He has sent geologists inland to see what kind of minerals are available on Tiberia. However he does not know where to send the "setup fee". Is it the license form or the transfer form? Quote
Captain Dee Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Ah, yes, how did I miss that? Since the resources are handled differently for some reason i thought there might be some restrictions. Quote
Kolonialbeamter Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 A quick question regarding the 'property count' in settlements. So far it is 'one license - one property', right? Or is there (already) a differentiation in place taking different license/MOC sizes into account, so 'small = property count 1', 'medium = property count 2', and so on? Quote
dr_spock Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Dr Spock, thanks for answering my query so clearly. You're welcome. Do keep in mind that mines work a little differently if you want to license one in the EGS. Mine: A mine is a piece of land that yields mineral wealth. Mines may include the following: Silver, Gold, Copper, Salt, Rock Quarry, Mercury, Saltpeter, Etc… Mines work a little different than the other businesses. After a builder determines they are going to stake a claim, they pay the “Set up cost” for a month. At the end of the month, the builder should present a MOC of a mine being set up. After that point, it will be revealed what type of mineral they have struck. (This is predetermined by the leaders before an island becomes “known” to players.) The builder then must create a MOC to show the extraction of this material before they can collect its yield. Every month’s yield results in a % going to the empire the builder belongs to. (This is beyond regular taxation, and is often known as the royal fifth) Sea Rats do not pay these taxes unless they have a legal mine in a faction’s territory. Since mines are never within a settlement directly, they do not have plot sizes. A quick question regarding the 'property count' in settlements. So far it is 'one license - one property', right? Or is there (already) a differentiation in place taking different license/MOC sizes into account, so 'small = property count 1', 'medium = property count 2', and so on? In the EGS documentation, property size does not factor into the property count of settlements. But fort size and count do for a Hamlet or Town classification requirement. Quote
