Captain Dee Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I don't think so since it's a one-time-only thing and not necessarily a full MOC. Quote
TitusV Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I don't think so since it's a one-time-only thing and not necessarily a full MOC. But freebuilds (and their 10DBs or DBs from approvals) are also a one-time-only thing? (licensing excepted) Quote
Captain Dee Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 One-time in the sense that you'll only have one sig-fig intro vs. unlimited freebuilds. Quote
TitusV Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 One-time in the sense that you'll only have one sig-fig intro vs. unlimited freebuilds. Ah, ok. I see. Thank you! Quote
dr_spock Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 About webforms: would I have to fill in one for posting sigfig + backstory (the 25DBs)? It is probably not necessary since your sigfig (and optional back story) will have to be posted in the respective fraction signup thread. The faction leaders will see it and add you to the members list. Quote
SkaForHire Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 Wait! I always thought that building properties and ships you license for the EGS do not count as freebuilds, so the first free ship and property would not give you 10DBs? (there are also 3 webforms, 1 for freebuilds, one for ships and one for properties) Please correct me if I'm wrong. Yes your licensed items are all free builds first, and licensed second. About webforms: would I have to fill in one for posting sigfig + backstory (the 25DBs)? It has already been guessed at, but no, when your name goes into our database you get 25 DBs because you had to have had a sigfig to do so. I actually find Corrington to be rather interesting, but I joined Oleon since I thought most people would join Corrington . Boooo... quick come to the dark... errr.. red side! Quote
Kai NRG Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Just to let everyone know, BoBS has it's own Flickr group. Quote
Khorne Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Boooo... quick come to the dark... errr.. red side! No! I have cast my lot. For Oleon, for Gods, King and Country Quote
Tomsche Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Hmm, I have intrest in joining this, but as a non `Economic Game` player, who can only very occasionally build something due to other constraints and requirements. BUT I have a bit of a problem deciding which side to join. On the one hand, the story of the Bri... I mean Corrington appeals to me the most, but on the other hand I have 0 red, and a lot of blue coats, as I always liked those figures more. Which is the best choice to make then? Story / Character wise it`ll probably be a seafarer sort of explorer, as to not be putting pressure on myself to keep building building building while neglecting other builds, after all, one is many weeks on the seas ;-) Quote
Bart Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 (edited) Tomsche, become a pirate! no rules, you can build what ever you like, no colour issues either :) You can even build a blue coat fort/ship/outpost, as you are spying it trough your pirate spyglass :D Edited December 31, 2015 by Bart Quote
Captain Dee Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Bart, you bring up a good point. There should be lots of building options, especially for people who are willing to "think outside the box." Tomsche, I think your best option would be the Blues or Sea Rats, based on what you're saying. If you don't want to participate in the Economic Game System you'll be free to build what and when you want, rather than being limited by the gameplay rules. But if you like the sound of Corrington, don't rule it out just because you don't have redcoat soldiers. You could probably work your way around that, especially if you want your character to be a seafarer/explorer. Quote

You are more likely to build for the team you identify with rather than the one you have the most colors for. And you really don't have to have a lot of the team color, there are lots of ways around it! You could have a ragtag crew that wears any colors, or you could have your sigfig constantly fighting against the opposite factions. Building wise it also challenges you to think outside the box and to learn how to work with a limited building pallet. Notice I didn't name any factions, that's because it doesn't matter which you pick, just have fun with it! Quote

The EGS is an add-on not a seperate game. You may use it to add additional value to your MOCs and stories, but you don't have to do anything specifically because you decided to participate in the EGS Quote
Tomsche Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Okay, one more question, and then I`ll shut up, build a figure and register I`ve been reading through the whole economics game and all, with the voyages, sea actions etc, but some small things aren`t clear to me (probably just lost in translation or overread it) As you join on a `freebuild` basis, you don`t earn personal gold and fame right, but do add to the appropriate factions tally only, or do you score them to do personal purchases somewhere along the line (say for example, down the line in 6 months I suddenly have time and want to jump into the ERS game). Captain Dee Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Freebuilds add to your faction's score and earn you, the builder, DBs that you can use if you wish to participate in the EGS - but only if you fill out the web form and post a link in the freebuild thread. You could freebuild for months, increasing your DBs, and then start gameplay, or never begin gameplay if you want. If you never participate in EGS but do lots of freebuilds you'd just earn a bunch of DBs that wouldn't really do anything. Quote
Tuben Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 This is an interesting initiative to start BoBS :) Do you have some tips on how to easy obtain a quantity of minifigs in the right color for your faction? :) Bricklink is one option, any more options? Quote

Depending on your quantity... You can also try LEGO online Pick A Brick or Bricks and Pieces. Also LEGO stores have Build A Minifig. Sea Rats have no particular uniform color. Quote
SilentWolf Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 I had made up my mind to be a Olean blue coat. However, now that I have read the faction descriptions, Corrington is calling my name! How could you force me to switch!? Well at least I have a few more days to decide as I am not yet back home from the holidays. Looking forward to joining with my Figure then. Quote
Captain Dee Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Well, Corrington definitely needs members - that is, if it hasn't gone extinct already. So far it's been mostly Blue and Green. If you're undecided, you could request a tax break to make up your mind like they do in the real world... Quote

If you're undecided, you could request a tax break to make up your mind like they do in the real world... Actually... Every faction is taxed, including the sea rats, that tax doesn't come out of the member's pockets unless a new tax is raised. So asking for a tax break from anyone at this point is a moot point. The factions are awarded 20% of the value of what its total membership makes. So, as stated, even if you are a non-EGS player, you are still earning money for your faction by building. Quote
Captain Dee Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Oh, I know, I know. I was just kidding around. But it is good to bring that point up because it is important for everyone to understand just how the taxes function. Quote
