Hi all,

This may be somewhere in the thread already, but a small question:

Can you use the coins earned in freebuilds, use in the same month to buy additional buildings?

For instance, I just posted two freebuilds giving me 20 DBs. Can those 20 DBs be used in August?

Yours,

Captain Bran

Normally, they should already be in your total on the account summary now if they are registered (mind license costs are also substracted already then), so as long as you end the month on the +, it`s all fine

Cool thanks, Qjuinnsville will be growing a little more this week pirate_laugh2.gif

I want to question the size requirements for a "Viceroy's Palace" (biggest version of Residence).

Cost: 300 DBs (10% of other "royal" properties which are at 3.000 DBs)

Yield: 15 DBs (3% of other royal properties which are at 500 DBs)

I think that the minimum size requirement for a "Viceroy's Palace" should be no more than 48x48 (23% of other royal properties at 100x100).

Also I think the size requirements for the other residences should be adapted, my suggestion is:

small: 12x12

medium: 20x20

large: 32x32

Reasoning behind that is that

a) the yield really sucks

b) residences are usually "dense" MOCs of one house consisting of many bricks, unlike e.g. a factory or plantation with much rather "unused" space. Sure, you can always add a garden etc., but that's rather limited for cities as well...

What do the officials think?

Seconded.

I don't have a problem with the current residence sizes, especially since they're not minimums, but guidelines. And residences shouldn't be a great source of income. But I agree that the minimum size for a viceroy's palace doesn't need to be 100x100. 64x64 should be adequate. I think a palace should be an open, grand thing, but it doesn't need to be as big as a royal factory.

The plot sizes for the royal residences will be remaining the same, but a bit of leeway if necessary will obviously be granted as to size, since the guidelines are not supposed to be rigid rules. As Capt. Wolf said, residences are clearly not ever a huge source of revenue (since that is not their primary purpose), so it makes sense that it will not be nearly as good a return as, for example, a royal factory or plantation.

Btw, as it is already the 9th - can we get some information when we can expect the MRCA results? As usual a big thanks to the team working behind the scenes making all this possible;)

May I ask where my member title comes from? I've just had two weeks withouth internet acces, so...

If I need to apologise somewhere, I'd happily do so.

Couple of quick questions

1. Can I register a ship as an actual property? The idea I`m building around with, is a merchant vessel that will be permanently moored on my second big Quinnsville plate, and in a sort of dock. Basically, a floating shop.

2. Any news when Ska will return, so I can get some info on what sort of mine I ended up with (which was set up end of May)

As long as it's not entered in the MRCA, I would say it's fine to have a floating shop. You should not be able to receive yield and trade income from the same building/ship.

None yet. :cry_sad:

I too am waiting on two mine prospects.

Ska has had an extremely busy summer. :look:

Register it as a property. So it is basically artistic freedom on the concept/visual of your property. Cool idea.

Do we need a new Monthly Freebuild Registration thread (and webform) or are we running with July's through until the end of August?

We're just going to have one Free Build Registration topic. We haven't updated the text yet.

Is it then one post/month/person in that thread?

A question:

Have any of you experimented with, or seen anyone experiment with cutting hull pieces in half in order to make wider hulls? The thought just occured to me, and while it involves precision cutting and the "creative destruction" of bricks (oh, the horror!) it might well solve some of the scale issues for larger vessels.

(Please don't burn me at the stake for such a heretical suggestion!)

Gimme a torch, so I can burn that heathen myself!

Actually, the tought just never came up in me. But that May also be because I don't have any hulls...
