Kai NRG Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Indeed, Kai! Altough the sometimes I don't know anything better to say (i.e. SK's Nordheim Keep).. You can always try to pick out three or four things that really stand out to you. Of course, we can't all post such nice long comments as Captain Dee and some others, but it really is very encouraging, for me at least, to get a comment that's a couple of lines long. (So a big thank you to those of you that make the extra effort to post long/er comments!) Quote
MKJoshA Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 (edited) Two more questions: Do I have to sign up for the EGS somewhere? Or does it just happen as I fill out the webforms in triplicate? Did my introduction "build" count for the 25DBs, or do I need to flesh out the picture more? EDIT: Sorry, more questions. If I build a plantation as a Sea Rat, do I automatically become mayor of Bastion or of a new city on the Nest of Thieves? And if Mayor do I get the 5 DBs at the end of the month for being so? Also, if I build a fort, what is it protecting? Is it advantageous to help build up Bastion or to start my own place? Edited January 5, 2016 by MKJoshA Quote
SkaForHire Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 Well, tossing some more cents in the pool, as a mediocre builder (time, space, lack of skill, pick whatever reason you want from the list :-) ) I also have been involved in all three projects so far, and never really cared about `points`, gold or whatever earned. GOH is one I love because there is no time pressure for anything outside the `book challenges`, which apart from the wargame so far have been timespread well enough. My problem with AG was more one of high turnout required for the map, with it weekly needing a build in order to keep your company `in the arms race`, causing numbers to swing the pendulum more then quality. That is why i quit it the moment I earned enough for the tag (I`m tag-dicted lol). BTW, I take it that in order to get fleets formed with traders, escorts etc, we just do this in the `open` Empire threats? I can imagine spies around aplenty in the Age of Sail, not needing specific private chat channels like in AG? For the most part yes, but if you are setting up escorts or convoys for trade in the MRCA, you should probably keep your destinations secret amongst the group, lest some pirate get a hold of your plans and lay a trap. There is already a mayor of Bastion. If you start a new settlement on the NEst of Thieves, then yes, you would be the mayor. If your town is approved by the end of the month, yes you would get the stipend. A fort protects all towns within its range. Building up Bastion would make it a stronger trade port, and thus for your sides traders a place they can always trade for a decent sum. Quote
Maxim I Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 You don't have to put a link in the licencing webform? That's right, isn't it? Quote

SkaForHire Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 You don't have to put a link in the licencing webform? That's right, isn't it? There should be a spot to write the link in the webform. This is important. What do you mean by trading? In the MRCA, eventually, when factions start turning on one another they will block other factions from their ports. This will make it harder to trade, so having strong ports in your faction will help people in your faction who decide to trade. Quote

SkaForHire Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 That is troublesome... That means part of the form didn't fire. IT should be fixed now -- note to everyone, if you have used this form, please resubmit, or we won't know who submitted what! Quote
Bart Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 The old submissions are lost? That form looks like the one I used before. Bart Quote

Tuben Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 How can I make the name of the MOC to a link to my MOC-thread like in the example, Smuggler's Cove?: What do I need to do? Simply write the following information in a NEW post: Name of MOC linked to the thread | Name of Builder | Faction you belong to IE: Smuggler's Cove | Kai NRG | Eslandola Quote
Elostirion Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Is that what you mean? Name Of MOC for example: Google Quote

Garmadon Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 You can do it even easier by using the Link tool on Eurobricks (See the Bold, Italics, etc. After the numbered list comes the Link tool. Grab the text you want to link it to, then click the button and put in the link.) Quote

Sir Stig Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Can we licence contest submissions? I am building a ship for the contest, and I am thinking about using the same ship as my free ship. I have not registered a character yet, but the character is ready and I am working on the story. Quote

See the special in Challenge II: Special: If you are building a ship for this challenge, you can license it in the EGS, but since it is for the challenge, no DBs can be earned for a free build. So if it is for challenge II you will be able to licence it, but in general I believe challenge builds are outside the EGS except for any special rewards given to the winning side or to each faction Quote

Vedauwoo Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I have a question related to "Building Ships: Trade Runs, Raiding, and the Bounty of the Sea" For a vessel such as a Catamaran or a Cog....which has a rating of 0 for guns and Crew.....Does this mean she has no crew? or less than 5? I can see no guns on a smaller vessel, but it seems you would need at least some crew to handle rigging and such... Quote

I can see no guns on a smaller vessel, but it seems you would need at least some crew to handle rigging and such... A rating of 0 in guns means you have too few or too small an armament to achieve classification. It may be a few swivel guns or a single small chaser, but nothing enough to earn a rating. Similarly for crew, a rating of 0 means it is just the captain and a few select men sailing the ship. I hope that helps! And if any of the officials disagree, please correct me! Quote
