I save every box as well, I do regret as a child, I had an idea to save some space, I cut the back and fronts off the old 80's boxes, and kept just them. A bit like my mistake of hold punching some instructions……seemed like such a good idea at the time!

I do agree with some peoples comments, storage space is really becoming an issue.

I do save boxes. I flatten them and keep them on a shelf in my closet. The few boxes I haven't kept ended up in the recycle bin. My son keeps all of his boxes too, but gives me a hard time when I want to break them down to save space. He also tries to save every polybag and foil pack he gets.

I keep them only if I really like them...

I kept some of the Monster Fighters boxes like the Ghost Train and the Zombies

Same with Pirates

On the other hand, I find City boxes kinda.... plain and boring. So, I don't keep them

I used to save most of my boxes, especially from the Hobbit and LOTR line, but I didn't do anything with them. They were just collecting dust and taking space. So recently I threw all the boxes away. I cannot see any use for these boxes, so I doubt I will keep any in the future.

I save all of them, and flattened them. I keep them in drawer under the bed and for large boxes for flagships, I keep them in custom built crate in loft to keep them clean and dust free. Boxes are really a part of sets.

I keep the majority of my boxes. One's from small sets I tend not to keep but the large ones yes, definitely. If I buy a used set that has no box I'll buy one if I can.

I tend to keep them, since I love looking at the artwork, and seeing the different box designs from the different themes all mixed together, but at the same time I'm not pressed for space, so it's a bit different for me.

I occasionally save them, and then reuse them to pack presents in for others. It confuses them for a second when they pull back the wrapping to see a LEGO box

I used to do this to my mom when I was a kid

I still have almost all my boxes, most of them are pretty beat up though… I honestly don't think I would mind having to part with them too much though, I mostly keep them for the value but I have no intention of selling my collection  And like I said they're pretty beat up so I don't know if they'd be worth much anyway. I think it will end up a lot like my model horse collection, I kept the boxes for the value then got annoyed from having too many of them with no real use for them so I threw them in recycling. I'll hang on to them for the moment, but if it becomes to much of a pain I'll get rid of them.

The only boxes I've kept have been the ones from the Exo Suit, Ghostbusters, and my Haunted House box. And of course, the Architecture Studio box (obviously). The rest get recycled.

I don't. My wife and I have a large-ish apartment (give it's just us and two cats), but we've tried to reduce excessive clutter, and the boxes take up too much room, even if they're flattened.

I started to flat some boxes, but after some boxes,I ended up storing them in my room at my parents house XD So it's like my stuff is still there. Makes my mom happy =P

Until now I have saved and not flattened all my boxes since returning from the dark ages. It's really taking up space though... But I like having the sets 'complete' with box and everything. I cannot display anything other than minifigures right now so I have all the jets and vehicles in their correct boxes (assembled mostly). If they don't fit, they get partly disassembled.

I used to, until I hit the 300 sets mark, then it just became too much. Like most, I keep the Ideas boxes as they're a bit more special than regular ones. I also kept the old Ninja & Forestmen boxes that I purchased again a few years ago.

I wish I saved the ones from my own childhood in the 80s/very beginning of the 90s. I did not and don`t think the boxes/sets I buy today will have the same impact at all in year 2045.. I try to save the modular ones, but they end in the trash after some time anyway so it`s no point keeping them. It`s the inside that matters anyway :)

So I'm buying a Lego tumbler and shipping g with the box is an additional $5. Is it worth the $5 in the long run, will the value of the box go up? Or should I pass and save the $5?

When I was younger i kept the large boxes with viewing flaps on the front. They were very sturdy and made for good storage. These days, a box is just something between me and sweet plastic happiness, so in the recycling bin it goes.

If it's sealed (or at least the inner bags are sealed), the box is likely to add considerably more than $5 in future value.

If you're going to sell it well and truely used, probably not worth the effort.
