KotZ Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) There was a stiff breeze in the air as the Heroes exited the Hall and made their way to the Eubric docks. One by one they stepped onto the wooden planks and approached a blue vessel. She was a smaller ship, and there were mounted ballistae towards the bow. They seemed almost out of place, the ballistae, as if they were hastily added on. There were two figures conversing on deck, a man with long hair in a sleeveless shirt and someone who looked to be a young teenager with a staff. Interesting company perhaps. The older man saw the Heroes from the corner of his eye and looked at them, a wide grin coming to his face. "There they are!" he exclaimed in a gruff voice. He turned to a bosun. "Tell the boys to get the ship ready for cast off!" He returned his eyes to the Heroes. "Welcome aboard, valiant Heroes. I hope you are able to find it comfortable on The Golden Lotus, lead vessel of the Tridentian Defense Force. I am Captain Vernon Slate, commander of this crew. Here at my side is--" "Two of them know who I am, captain," Luke Zent finished. His voice cracked every fourth or so syllable. He was growing. "Annie and Warlen were with us the last time our home requested help from Heroica. The other three are new to me." Luke bowed his head awkwardly. He seemed to still need to grow into his body. Still childlike movements, but there was promise. "For you other three, my name is Luke Zent. My adopted father is the mayor of Tridentia." "Looks like a group of all sword fighters. I like that." "Not so, captain. It seems one of our allies here is a mage." He directed his gaze to Calamity. "I'm glad to see my father's message didn't turn away all the magic users. I myself am a cleric. Also, who here is your party leader?" "Once you have that decided, are there any questions?" Kintobor Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Annienal steps onto the dock and looks around, noticing Luke. It seemed he'd grown quite a bit since last winter. Annienal felt somewhat off noticing how quickly he'd grown. She was used to growing up around other elves, something that took a lot longer. "Hi, Luke. It's, um, been awhile. How've things been with you?" She takes note of Slate asking for a leader, intending to elect anyone but Calamity as she recalled her name being on the list. "Captain Slate, my name is Annienal Anavir, member of Heroica. If it means anything, I had formal training at a military academy for, um, awhile at least. Um, permission to come aboard, captain?" Thanks for having me, King! I've made some purchases at the Marketplace, and my stats have been updated accordingly. Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Warlen smiled, the scar on his face twisting slightly as he did so. "Hey, Captain. Warlen Melimane at your service. Please, call me Warlen. It's an honour to be visiting Tridentia again. Oh, guys, I'm going to go ahead and say that I'll be party leader only if noone else wants to." He turned back to the Captain. "I guess my only request is that you refresh my memory from the last trip: Barring a fight, storm or the like, how long is it to Tridentia?" Oo-Thanks for having me again, KotZ! I too have made some purchases and updated my stats accordingly. Quote
Dragonfire Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) Avalanche strides onto the dock, dipping his massive head respectfully to the Captain and Luke, "Pleased to meet you both. I'm Avalanche." He then notices an unfamiliar young woman in silver and purple armour on the dock beside him; extending a paw, he introduces himself, "Avalanche. I don't believe we've met." Seeing Warlen, he smiles in greeting, "We meet again, it seems. And I'd be fine serving under you as party leader; I second your proposal." OOC: Thanks for having me too! Have you heard from him?" "Captain Slate, my name is Annienal Anavir, member of Heroica. If it means anything, I had formal training at a military academy for, um, awhile at least. Um, permission to come aboard, captain?" "Honestly, I can't say. Captain Grayson would have a better say. He leads the Tridentian Defense Force. I'm sure your training would be good. I think he really has just been looking for people who had been in battles and could part some wisdom on the militia. Any experience is good experience in my opinion, though." He turned back to the Captain. "I guess my only request is that you refresh my memory from the last trip: Barring a fight, storm or the like, how long is it to Tridentia?" "Probably two weeks. We've been pretty careful avoiding the raiders that have been sailing pretty close to us. They've been harrassing our ships and have actually taken some. If we do run into any trouble, it's a good thing we have some good warriors with us!" Quote

"Swords, axes, the like. The town's coffers have grown allowing us to buy these better weapons. Back when we first had problems, we had swords of not too good quality, a few hammers and pitchforks. More of a mob than a true militia. Grayson has the most experience out of anyone, so that's why Mayor Morris put him as the captain, but even then he was a guard in a relatively quiet area. Rabble rousers we can deal with. Fully armed mercenaries are a whole different sort. Whenever they have attacked, we were lucky enough to have Heroica here. But now, the attacks are just too severe and we need better training. Captain Grayson sends them off on training missions into the forest outside the town's limits, but fighting beasts can only do so much." Quote

Dragonfire Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 (edited) "C'mon, really? Evil sea creatures?" Avalanche rolls his eyes in exasperation before levelling Frostbite at Tito from the front row. I'd recommend Calamity going last in the battle order and targeting one of the fish, and the other three fish getting free hits on the other three of us. Edited December 21, 2015 by Dragonfire Quote
Kintobor Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Annienal notices the fish creeping on deck and quickly jumps up as she grabs her belongings, strapping things back on hastily, particularly mortified by the shark. "We didn't run into fish last time! Why now?" Annienal grabs her topaz and casts lightning on the Lady Cobra. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Calamity groans. "Where did you get that staff? Whatever it is, these guys don't like it." Luke attacks Fish A with his staff from the back row, Calamity attacks Fish B with a Darkness Spell from the back row. Quote
