narbilu Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Thanks for all the kind words. I have a couple of days of work, so what's next, if I'm correct, two free licences. Please correct me if I have to take a different path. 1) build somewhere in an excisting colony, or wait a few days for my own colony... Or will it take longer to discover our new islands? 2) build a vessel, not larger than class 2 3) finish a picture story of my sigfigs intro or any other freebuild... Any suggestions on what to focus first? Quote
Bregir Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I think it will take a bit longer until the new islands are freed up, so you could build in one of the existing colonies for now. You are never limited to building in only one place. However, I would suggest starting with building a vessel. As the MRCA has been postponed, you might be able to finish it in time to join in. A 2F or 2T would be good place to start making your fortune. The intro story builds are a good idea too. Quote
Elostirion Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Just talking about the economic game system ships definitely offer the highest rewards, but also bring along risk. Building in an existing colony is the way to earn some steady and safe money. Freebuilds, story etc. almost do not help you at all in the economic aspect of the game, but of course add a lot of value to the game. A good way inbetween can be the challenges: Lots of story, but also high monetary rewards. The current challenge for the fountain of youth has been extended to the 10th of July. But most importantly, really, just MOC what you want to the most, what is fun for you, whatever motivates you. Enjoy the game. :-) About founding your own settlement: Noone can forbid you to just start a settlement somewhere in the world. However to get this officially recognised you need your queen. Squatter settlements are what Sea Rats do, all others are members of real nations for a reason. I can really recommend you to start building in an existing settlement that you like the most of them. I for one wanted to start my own when I joined the game as well, but kabel convinced me into building in an existing one. Today I am glad that I have contributed a lot to Nova Terreli. I still have the chance to start my own city whenever I want it. And by the way welcome, nice sigfig intro! Quote
Kwatchi Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 (edited) Firstly, welcome to BoBS Narbilu! Just talking about the economic game system ships definitely offer the highest rewards, but also bring along risk. Building in an existing colony is the way to earn some steady and safe money.... Bregir and Elostirion do a nice job hitting most of the points I would have, but I will add one bit of dissenting opinion. The appeal of having my own colony, on its own island, was something that brought me into the game (and building on this site in general). Not surprising, as I have a builder's mentality. So rather than starting right off licensing properties in my faction's existing towns, I simply "stockpiled" freebuilds until the opportunity arose for me to start a town on my terms. While I did miss out on some short term gains, it did allow me to take maximum advantage of the 3 licenses / month in one colony rule for some rapid initial growth. As for Dbs, participating in trade fleet actions will be your best generator early on, and is probably the most fun event in game due to the faction competition and sheer randomness of it all. So getting a class 2 vessel built as early as possible is highly recommended. It doesn't have to be a work of art (mine was/is awful tbh), but you being a GoH, NB, and AG vet probably means your standards are far higher than mine. :) Edited June 30, 2016 by Kwatchi Quote

Any suggestions on what to focus first? Unless you can get your first free business built today I would recommend focusing on the ship if you can have one done before the 10th. That will enable you to get involved in the MRCA. I had created some builds in existing settlements to build a backstory and I used my free license there. I also built some builds that I was able to use once I officially founded a settlement. Being able to start getting some income right away definitely helps in the long run. It will probably be about a month before the new islands are assigned. Those are my thoughts. Quote
Tomsche Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I did a prospecting for a mine end of may, is there by any chance word on what has been dug up? Quote
narbilu Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Almost ready to present the first build. On a sidetrack, I transformed the large build that I was planning for GoH to become my port in the new colonies. First things first: Your Majesty Queen Annetta of Corrington, At first my apologies, for I am not the diplomat you are used to receive a proposal of. Secondly, thank you for the opportunity that Corrington has granted me. The vessel you have provided will be sailing to our colonies very shortly. The crew is being assembled as we speak. That is for my next question, a request. For protection of Corrington assets and the save supply of our military, I recommend that we do not keep the stocks in one of our current settlements but somewhere within the newly discovered colonies. My vessel will set sail for Quinville, where we will restock our resources. We would be very grateful to settle a port on one of the new islands that will fall under your reign and hope that we can spread our wings from that point. Yours faithfully, Captain Bran Master of Stock and Naval Supplies Quote

We predict it takes a month for voting, then another month for us to pick/choose and debate the logistics, so a new colony could probably be established sometime during the months of Sep or Oct. In the meantime, do feel free to build in any of the existing royal colonies that suit your fancy :) If you require any intel, we shall be glad to share what we know. Quote

narbilu Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 (edited) Posted my first official project in BoBS I'm coming over for coffee Sir Thomas Smaugton... The Queens Shade - my free licence T2 Cargo Cog Do I still register this ship and project somewhere? Done! Edited July 3, 2016 by narbilu Quote
narbilu Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 The Warehouse on Quinnsville - my free license building! Question: I finished my idea for MRCA based on my two builds and an additional piece to finish the MOC. Is that possible, and what actions do I have to perform to activate my build in the current MCRA. Quote
Ayrlego Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Hi Narbilu, For the Queen's Shade to participate in one of the Corrington convoys for the MRCA, you'd usually register her in the Corrington Trade Run private thread. (not sure if you have been given access yet?) As a Class 2T the convoy she'd join would be 'Quick Wing'. Let us know if you don't have access (not sure who has the magical power to add you - not me!) and someone can add you. After that you'll need to fill out this webform (more paperwork) and state that you are part of the 'Quick Wing' convoy. Then you sit back and wait... (the hardest part!) Quote

SilentWolf Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 There is a main thread we will get you added to in addition to the commerce thread. Then we can discuss there if you have interest in the other threads. Ska4hire normally adds people but he is on vacation so it might take a couple days tof get you added. Quote
SilentWolf Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Half of the bank's total funds are available for public projects each month; leftover money from that 50% will be saved. The mayor may allocate these funds towards public works, buildings, festivals, building initiatives, paid positions, defense, taxes to the faction government, troop maintenance, etc. [/Quote]Could these funds be used to license a building? Ie. A fort? What are some ways you have used these funds besides incentives? Also does the town bank start acquiring money the month after it is founded or right away? Quote

Also does the town bank start acquiring money the month after it is founded or right away? Town bank can be used to reimburse licenses for a fort. The town bank income gets acquired the month after. And eligible properties are tabulated from the previous month. Quote
Bregir Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 'tis quiet in here these days... Are the clever Corlanders planning something devious in the skunkworks? Personally, I am working on a schooner that will soon set sail upon the brick seas, probably as a 5F. Quote
SilentWolf Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 That is some beautiful rigging!Nice color scheme also. I have a small artisan built that just needs pictures and a post tomorrow. I decided to show the process of canning. Obviously Corries will be the first to try new methods that will be used for years into the future. Quote
narbilu Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 (edited) Fellow settlers, This morning we finished building two buildings in Quinnsville: Captain Bran's Home (small residence) and Corrington Naval Tower (small fort) For the Queen, yours, Captain Bran The next couple of months I plan to make another 4 to 8 buildings: Edited August 3, 2016 by narbilu Quote
SilentWolf Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I will comment later on each build, but I really like the way you have layed out the builds. I look forward to seeing how this part of Quinnsville fills out. Quote
Tomsche Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 Work on the 'second phase" of Quinnsville has officially begun, including the dock to moor the Frisky Business in. Deadline: Brick Mania Antwerp in November where she will go on the massive pirate lay-out And after much pondering, I`ve decided I won`t be tearing her down afterwards, but will continue expanding her modularly until the appartment runs out of room Quote
SilentWolf Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 I look forward to seeing the continuation of Quinnsville. Do you still have the first part assembled? Quote
