Sir Stig Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Okay, that means there is more than enough to go around, and no need for conflict for a long time then, if ever. Quote
Mike S Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 We will have to get a MOD to make a thread for us, I don't have those powers. Have you asked someone to do this or should I? Quote
SkaForHire Posted February 10, 2016 Author Posted February 10, 2016 Have you asked someone to do this or should I? I have not, if you would like to take point on this, I would appreciate it. Quote

SkaForHire Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 I was wrong, we have 27 platoons in our regiment. So my new proposal is to fully crew all four warships, send a whole battalion (9 platoons) to Port Raleigh and leave the rest in Arlinsport until we have another settlement. Bregir, that looks awesome! Quote

SkaForHire Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 Are the rules for using troops ready to use this month? For all factions? They were actually ready last month, I just forgot about them -- and that means the other leaders did too! I will start a new rules page so people don't have to come to the Corrington page. I say this is a wise decision. On another note, if anyone wants to MOC the soldiers arriving at Port Raleigh, that is a good extra free build! Maybe the queen will reward that person(s) A battalion is 90 men, but the builder does not have to show all 90! or even more than a handful! (Also, the builder could register any property they MOC for this scene!) Quote
Tomsche Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 The `first brick` has been laid down, and somewhere next week the `founding` freebuild will be uploaded. Without an island name so far, but that ain`t essential yet Quote
Tomsche Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 The City (well, Hamlet at first) of Quinnsville `work in progress` Left beach will become the `market` over time, right side the fort, and at the front three more smaller buildings (amongst them two for a mini collab planned in the future) will be added, and the road will `dwindle` into the beach areas. Both the beaches are `detachable` so as the city expands, fresh 48x48 plates will be able to `lock` in between them for easy expansion and transportation, but I *hope* to have these three plates ready for Brick Mania Wetteren Quote
SilentWolf Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I am liking the progress so far and look forward to seeing it grow. Quote
TitusV Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I'm already looking forward to Wetteren! I think this might become your best build yet! Quote
Tezclatipoca Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Great ! You are progressing very well ! It's very promissing ! You will have rapidly a great town ! Quote
Bregir Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Looking good, Tomsche. Will be looking forward to seeing it grow! I especially like the shaping off the beach. On a different note: Where I to send a vessel on a privateering mission, which nations would the crown consider legal prey? I suppose attacking Oleander or Eslandolan vessels would lead to diplomatic crisis, but how about all the other nations? And sea rats? Quote
Captain Dee Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Wouldn't true privateering be defined as an act of war? Otherwise wouldn't it just be plain ol' piracy? Or am I missing something? Quote
Bregir Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Wouldn't true privateering be defined as an act of war? Otherwise wouldn't it just be plain ol' piracy? Or am I missing something? That is exactly why I ask. I have no interest in sparking war, but have a letter of marque that I have no wish to have sitting idle. From last months naval action, it would seem that Garveyan vessels are legal prey, as they have been preying on our ships? It may be so that in the current situation, predator missions are not a viable alternative to trade, and the HMS Otter should be relegated to escorting a group of slow merchant ships from port to port... Captain McLeod will not approve... Quote

SkaForHire Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 Yes, Sea Rats would be a viable target, and the current political climate might allow for some captures of Garvian ships. There are rumors that Mardier's king is going to grant privateer licenses to harass the rebellious Terraversa, but that might be in a month or two. Quote
gedren_y Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Eslandolan privateer Captain Daffyd "Splattersquawk" Prows targets known pirates, and fires kitchen refuse at Oleon ships. Quote
Fuzzy MacFuzz Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) 20160216_193620 by Chris Warburton Brown, on Flickr For the attention of Viscount Oxley. Most secret. Dated this 16th day of February in the 616th year After Empire Sir, I, John Hawksbrugh, wish to inform you of my return to Corrington after two years unfortunate absence in Oleon, and to offer you the use of my humble talents in whatever way you deem most fitting for furthering the interests of our Crown and our Nation. I hope you may remember me from our last meeting, albeit a brief one. I was born to humble parents in an obscure rural backwater, but by great fortune my boyhood talent for drawing came to the attention of that most gentle man and peerless architect Sir Christopher Finch, who found me an apprenticeship in his drawing office. I was a capable draughtsman, and rendered some small help to Sir Christopher on several grand building projects which he then had in hand. Upon completion of my apprenticeship, I decided to broaden my education by an architectural tour of Oleon, as Sir Christopher himself had undertaken in his youth. Hearing of this, you summoned me and requested I secretly take a 'tour' of some of the fortresses newly built on the frontiers of Oleon. This I did, and spent many happy summer days pretending to draw some old church or romantic ruin while really sketching a fortress close by. I successfully smuggled a number of my drawings back to Corrington, but to my great chagrin I was then discovered by an over-zealous customs officer and imprisoned. I was treated well enough in prison, and spent my days learning the Oleon language and drawing fantastical palaces combining the finest Oleon houses with the military and prison architecture I saw from my cell window. Then, by great providence, I was able to escape, and though I demonstrated some cunning and aplomb the stupidity of my guards was such that I cannot take over much credit to myself. (Forgive me, but I cannot trust the details of my escape to writing; rather I will wait until I meet with you or one of your officers and then all shall be told). Thankfully, I have now returned to the bosom of my native land, and, undaunted, wish to offer myself again to the service of my country. Whether through building, drawing, travelling or spying I care not, for all four bring me equal pleasure, but I hoped that my previous experience, and our existing contact, might convince you that I am well fitted for some adventure in the new lands now being discovered to the east. I await your reply with earnest trepidation. God save the Queen! I remain, sir, your most humble and obedient servant, John Hawksbrugh (NB: Any resemblance between the early career of John Hawksbrugh and those of two of Britain's finest 18th century architects is entirely deliberate) Edited February 16, 2016 by Fuzzy MacFuzz Quote
Mike S Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Nice intro! Welcome to Corrington! (I almost typed Kaliphlin instead of Corrington... I think I need some more sleep) Quote
Bregir Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Welcome amongst our ranks, Hawksbrugh. Your intro is great, and I really like the picture too. I trust we will find good use for your services in the near future, and it will be interesting to follow your adventures! Quote
Tezclatipoca Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Welcome to BoBS even if you chose Corrington... Nice story and good sigfig ! Quote
