Puvel Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Oh that's a good name! Weeping Isle and Skarletta are fine by me. Also, can I be added to the new PM's? Thanks! Quote
Fuzzy MacFuzz Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 I would like to be on all three Corry threads please. Happy with most of the island names suggested so far, I like Zephyria and maybe a royal family name; doesn't anyone have wife/kids/mother they'd like to nominate? But please avoid Weeping Island as we need an upbeat, positive name if we are to persuade them little yellow fellas to leave their homes and sail over to our new colonies. And what would our enemes say? PR and propaganda is vital! Quote
Maxim I Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Hahaha, bwa, we got also a non PR name and even propaganda for another nation name for the island we are going to choose. Quote
Brickwolf Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 (edited) Queen-Alice-Land as an island name, it sounds imperial. Edited April 21, 2016 by Brickwolf Quote
Ayrlego Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Ok so we seem to have some general consensus here: 4 - Lacryma (nickname: The weeping isle - I agree with Fuzzy, Weeping Island is too depressing for an actual name - but we could use it as a nickname) 9 - Something derived from Alice. I don't like the sound of Aliceland or Alice Isle. How about Alicentia ?(BTW Alice, Dutchess of Juniper is the much loved Queen's Mother and widow of the late King Arlin II - Just a thought for some back story!) So if there are no more suggestions and we are all in agreement, here are my proposals for voting: 4 - Lacryma / Skarletta 9 - Alicentia / Rosetta / Zephyria I cast my votes for Lacryma and Alicentia. Quote
CelesAurivern Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 I cast my votes for Lacryma and Alicentia. Ditto Quote
Bregir Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 I am not averse to those choices, but I just do not think they sound very Corrish. Quote
SilentWolf Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Why did Mooreland get cut off the list? Named after the late famous general of the Juniper War. I would vote for Mooreland and Alicentia. Quote
Ayrlego Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Why did Mooreland get cut off the list? Named after the late famous general of the Juniper War. I would vote for Mooreland and Alicentia. Oh, sorry SilentWolf, I missed Mooreland. 4 - Lacryma / Skarletta / Mooreland 9 - Alicentia / Rosetta / Zephyria Hmmm, Mooreland does seem more 'Corrish' than Lacryma - which seems somehow more... Olean? I'm tempted to change my vote for 4 - except again Mooreland doesn't seem quite right, can anyone think of a way we can better incorporate Moore into a place name... Moorelandia, Mooreton (more for a settlement), actually that's quite a good settlement name..... General Sir Charles Moore was killed leading a valiant rearguard action that allowed the main Corlander Army to escape the overwhelming Olean invasion force during the Juniper War. Why not Maximusia? there is that awful sound again....... Quote
CelesAurivern Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Why not Maximusia? We'll probably need some compelling IC reason for that Quote
gedren_y Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Here's a name for you Corries, Themyscira. Quote
Fuzzy MacFuzz Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 (edited) As I can't have Fuzzia for Island 4 and Fluffy Land for Island 9, I vote Lacryma and Alicentia To those who say Alicentia doesn't sound Corrish, think of Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Augusta Edited April 23, 2016 by Fuzzy MacFuzz Quote
Capn Frank Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 *SCREEEECH....* ;) What a strange suggestion for an island name. Quote
Ayrlego Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 To those who say Alicentia doesn't sound Corrish, think of Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Augusta Carolina was exactly what I was thinking when I suggested Alicentia..... So far: Alicentia: 4 Mooreland: 1 Lacryma: 3 Quote
CelesAurivern Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Carolina was exactly what I was thinking when I suggested Alicentia..... So far: Alicentia: 4 Mooreland: 1 Lacryma: 3 Since the discussion has ceased for over 48 hrs, may we agree to proceed with the two names as listed? Quote
SilentWolf Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I am OK with it but then again I already voted. Quote
Captain Dee Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Whoa... wait up!! Uhhh... let's see now... where did I put my list? For #9 I suggest "Pininfarina" and for #4 I suggest, umm, "Aventadore." No, make that "Zonda." HA!! Just kidding. I'm cool with "Alicentia" and whatever gets the most for the other. (Actually I'm not terribly concerned which is why I didn't speak up sooner.) Quote
dr_spock Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 *SCREEEECH....* ;) Aye. Screech is the name of a dark rum from Newfoundland, Canada. You could use it to wash down a meal of cod tongues and seal flippers. Quote
Fuzzy MacFuzz Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 (edited) Public notice To the sea captains, military officers, and more adventurous subjects of Corrington Know ye, that this day, the 29th of April in the 616th year After Empire, our noble and generous Sovereign has declared her support for all Corringtonian expeditions of exploration by land or sea in the Far Islands. And that a reward shall be given to the leaders of expeditions of sufficent worth viz: public proclamation throughout Corrington, the striking of a medal of commemoration, the firing of a 21 cannon salute at the Royal Palace of Belson, the declaration of a public half holiday, and the granting of 5 doubloons from the Royal treasury. Such persons as believe they have completed such an expedition should provide pictorial evidence to Mr Hawksbrugh, Secretary to the Royal Society of Navigation and Discovery, Government House, Port Raleigh [Fuzzy MacFuzz]. Furthermore, if Mr Hawksbrugh should hear through other channels of any courageous souls who have completed such an expedition, he will contact them directly. SilentWolf Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 (edited) Glad to hear it! Though what qualifies for the expedition of exploration? Did our exploration for the Challenge 1 and 2 count? Or are they future explorations? Both of my month long ships are up and ready to sail. Golden Filly, 5F El Bellos, 5LA AND my first LDDfor BOBS is up. I definitely need to do more research on customizing the minifigure torsos, but other than that I really liked how this turned out. Since I was sitting in a hospital room for two days, I aimed to do something I couldn't do with the bricks I had at home. Enjoy. Edited April 30, 2016 by SilentWolf Quote
