Bart Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 (...) Although... I am not sure how many Sea Rats will be out raiding -- but the current rules (which many are kept hidden to keep the mystery) call for the "populating" of each zone with a certain amount of pirates. So again, protection will be needed. There are also non SR pirates in the game? If a Sea Rats goes to a zone, with such a pirate, will that pirate attack a fellow SR pirate? Quote

The're called privateers or pirate hunters - but other than that yes However, I don't expect that there will be many ships so employed until people start to get more wary about pirate problems... For predator missions: "If you are cruising for prey in the ocean, you will tell us which zone you are stalking, who you are stalking, any friends (up to 3 in a pack) you are taking with you, and how big of an enemy are you willing to attack." So anyone may choose to attack anyone, including their own faction, or choose only to attack one, two or three factions. Political concerns may come into play, and all actions can have repurcussions. If a Sea Rats goes to a zone, with such a pirate, will that pirate attack a fellow SR pirate? Garvians are known to cross the line once in a while. But, they would be mostly NPC Sea Rats. So, yeah most of them would not be attacking other pirates to begin with. (On another note, this is going to allow us to create NPC bad guys For example, perhaps "Black Barney the Terrible" and his ship Diamond Jack have been terrifying the high seas for months, taking ships and it gets reported in the newspapers. Finally, somebody takes down Black Barny, and becomes famous for it! Now of course, Black Barney doesn't have to be an NPC, he could be a feared player Sea Rat who has build a reputation, but having a few NPCs in the game helps add more story to the world.) I hope over time, they even include ships from NPC-factions like Mardier, Varcoast, Pan, Tellvok, as predator or as prey It will, in fact you may see some privateering opportunities for some of these nations in the future. I would like to see both predators and prey from these factions, especially if there is an imbalance of some sort. And there is also the option of putting out bounties for ships or captains. (NPC or Player) But for the time being, I think we need to find our footing with the MRCA system and see where it goes based on player actions, before adding (too many) npc's If we start seeing supporting stories of NPC nations at war with player nations, there are also legitimate privateerring opportinities. Right now, at least, I can't see the Queen issuing letters of marque (privateering licenses) against nations with whom we are nominally at peace. Not without diplomatic repercussions, at least! On a different note: Can I register a property on Tiberia, or is that considered the old world? Quote
Mike S Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) On a different note: Can I register a property on Tiberia, or is that considered the old world? I believe Belson would be considered old world while any colonies east including Tiberia would be considered new world. But I also would like to be sure because I also planned on registering a property in Tiberia- in Arlinsport to be specific, the first HQ of the Coyle Shipping Company. Bart Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 On the above, maybe in the fraction thread. We can add maudier and others to the list "friendly, indifferent, hostile" Or is that something for later in the game? Quote

Are we allowed to be aware of some diplomatic situations between some NPC realms and Player Factions ? or is it for later ? Quote
Tomsche Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I think Ska is holding that for later, if he throws all his cards on the table, there won`t be much story adding for later weeks / months / years Also, I *think* Tiberia is okay, because when i asked for a landgrant, it could be done on Tiberia, but it will be allowed on new grounds when they are opened up on the map to found Quinnsville (it`s some pages back) Quote
Garmadon Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Yes, Tiberia is in the New World, so you all can own property there I think Ska is holding that for later, if he throws all his cards on the table, there won`t be much story adding for later weeks / months / years Quote

I have LeBellan and Nest of Theives maps completed and ready to post, Tiberia is the next on the list. On the above, maybe in the fraction thread. We can add maudier and others to the list "friendly, indifferent, hostile" Or is that something for later in the game? Mardier is in a state of Civil War, but Terraversa is open to all who want to trade there. They do have their own fleet, so raiding their home waters might not be the best idea this early in the game! Garvey is always open for trade, as they are often thought of as smugglers to the rest of the Peninsula. Much of the Sea Rat's booty gets laundered through Holder's Rock, the one Garvey Island. Namere, Carno, Altonia are all on a high state of alert, they worry that the Mardier civil war will spread into their lands. But they do each have a few small trade vessels traveling into the New World. Varcoast and Pontilla are allied against Oleon right now, but not at war. They worry that Oleon may invade them for more land. Pan, Telvok, Saleek all are on good terms with Oleon and New Oleon, you may see some of their ships in the new world as well. You make see some Mokolei Empire and allied states' ships in the new world, but not very many. Quote
Admiral Admirable Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 I'm thinking of registering one of my ships with Corrington, though unfinished, it is planned to be a fast, maneuverable, bomb ketch with maximized firepower. Practically a ship Corrington would want in their fleet, right? And how much would it cost to do that? Quote
Bregir Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 A bomb ketch sounds really interesting - it's nice to see so many different types of vessels being designed here! And while it is not exactly a traditional warship, it would definitely fit the "armed" classification. It will most definitely come in handy in siege action, although it is not really the type for ship-to-ship combat. (But for game purposes, I doubt that will be taken into consideration ;) ) Depending on her side, I would guess that we are talking classes 3-5, which means you are looking at a license cost of anywhere between 250 for a class 3A to 450 for a class 5 heavy armed. Of course, this only applies if you wish to use it for the EGS, which I would personally encourage. :) You can see the different classes, their stats and costs here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=118542 Will be looking forward to hearing and seeing more! Admiral Admirable Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Thanks Bregir. Actually she will function as more of a utilitarian ship, she would normally serve as a warship, but can be easily be re-fitted into a trading ship or smuggling ship. She is around the size of the 6271 Impreial Flagship, using the same hull pieces. Quote

Bregir Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) @AA: Sounds like she will be rather large - probably a tier 4 or 5 ship. :) If you want to use her for many different types of missions, the armed classes are probably not the right choice, as they have no cargo hold. But you can take your pick amongst the other classes, finding one that suits your need! :) @Ska: Nice map(s)! Will their be a post for Arlinsport, so we can register builds there? (I know you have many things to do - I am not trying to rush you :) ) Edited January 16, 2016 by Bregir Quote
Admiral Admirable Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) I believe you are mistaken, Bregir, but do correct me if I'm wrong. She will be a rather medium sized vessel. The Imperial Flagship I was referring to is the 6271 Classic Pirates model, not the newer and much larger 2010 one. Hence her hull length is around 40 studs long, not counting her bowsprit. Edited January 16, 2016 by Admiral Admirable Quote
Bregir Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 I might very well be, as I am far from an expert on the official Lego vessels. In fact, the only one I ever owned is the corsair ship from lotr. I am currently working on a 8 gun (plus four chasers) sloop of war, which I expect to register with a rating of 4 (WR). That is with 3 middle hull sections as far as I remember. In short, I will not embarrass myself anymore, and instead, in great anticipation, await to see it! ;) However, the current classes only includes up to medium sized vessels, as frigates, for instance, are outside the current rating system, so a bomb ketch could be in the high end! :P Quote
Maxim I Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) My opinion is that a Bomb Ketch is at least a Well-Rounded Vessel, even an Armed vessel. About the class: You always can licence it as Class 2 and in the future upgrade your class licence to a higher class (I think that class 4/5 will be the Max for that type of ship) :) I am for example building a 3rd rate ship of the line (48 guns) which probably will be class 9 :p Edited January 16, 2016 by Maxim I Quote
Admiral Admirable Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) Thanks all for your help! @Bregir I don't feel you have embarrassed yourself. After all, its alright to make a mistake, and a forum is where you can always learn from other people. Anyways, her hull design won't be absolutely spectacular, as it is similar to the smaller Imperial Flagship, but I am going to put in a fair bit of effort for her rigging. @Maxim I Oh I see. Thanks for the advice! Edited January 17, 2016 by Admiral Admirable Quote

That being said if you want to have a cog and call it a bomb ketch no one can really stop you but when it's said and done it's a cog. This may sound disappointing for some people that they don't get to min max their ships stats but the reasoning is to keep it simple at first as there is a decent bit of work each MCRA will entail and we don't want to drive all the leaders nuts. Maxim is right though there is always the ability to upgrade an existing ships license. That being said in the coming months we have plans to release a few new things that will hopefully make up for not being able to tweak your ships stats. Hope this explanation helps. Quote
Admiral Admirable Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Oh I see. Thanks for all of your help! I'm aiming for a Class 5 F or Class 5 Light A, but fir starters I might go with a Class 2 A. Quote
