The new coin from HP could be useful at least to dragon knights :dsweet:

Can't we see this new element as the confirmation of the rumored future GWP based on Majisto? Indeed, many sets from the era feature chests, and it seems likely that the GWP could feature one, especially if it's a reboot of 6048: Majisto's Magical Workshop. This is a great opportunity to fill it with these new dragon coins, isn't it?

I thought the same thing.  They did this with the bard CMF with the crown coin that was a teaser of sorts for the Lion Knights castle and girl knight CMF.

Speaking of the crown coin, I was mildly surprised today building the Ninjago City Markets set that the crown coin piece is used on the jukebox build, face down, where an unprinted 1x1 round tile would have looked the same. Obviously getting a set that big just for two or three crown coins would be stupid, but I'm not complaining about having a few more of those now!

They are on PAB for a decent price if you want to fill your coffers

I noticed that the unprinted gold coin is no longer part of the BDP palette with series 2. So probably it is not an easter egg but simply not available for the designers right now.

This coin is so much better than the crown coin! I'm very much looking forward to any black knights or dragon masters set 🐲

While I would prefer a remake of Majisto's Tower due to its rarity and excellent parts, I think the workshop can be reused in many many ways, which is awesome. Civilian buildings, here we come!

In 2023, I've been working on some of the Dragon Masters sets. I have to buy at least a few printed and roof parts for the Fire Breathing Fortress, but that's going to be built soon. I love having the dragons and fun helmets and plumes to go along with it!

Since the GWP do not have any new parts I wonder what they will do with the plumes, there is no CMF series that can come to the rescue either:sceptic:
Unless it is 6020: Magic Shop without any soldiers *huh*

OMG hahahaha a remake of 6020 would be hilarious. The wailing and crying would be epic.

Given the Forestmen remake, I'd be really surprised if they did. Do we "know" it's a remake, or could it be some combination of the Workshop/Tower/Magic Shop?

I can see a few scenarios here. It would certainly be possible for them to introduce new plumes in the GWP if they're going to be used in a later set, such as the next CMF or the medieval market. They introduced the forestmen torso in the GWP before we knew it was in 10305.

It's also possible that they will just use the black conical helmet since it's currently in production. It's not 100% accurate to the original, but neither was 40567, and that's fine.

The third possibility I see is them just using the modern plumes. That would be the worst case scenario in my opinion.

Keep in mind that it's not just the plumes. It's also the helmet that hasn't appeared in a set for 20 years. I'd love to see it make a comeback though.

I doubt they'd make a GWP based on 6020 Magic Shop. That set's main structure takes the form of a hollowed-out tree, so rather than delivering any real sense of novelty, it would largely just feel like a less impressive repeat of the Forest Hideout. 6048 Majisto's Magical Workshop seems like a more suitable inspiration for a new GWP in terms of both size and visual distinctiveness.

Black conical helmets would definitely work from a nostalgic standpoint, IMO, since they were widely used for Dragon Knight footsoldiers. Though of course if it wouldn't be as exciting as the more ornate cavalry helmets from a parts standpoint.

As iconic as the dragon-shaped helmet ornaments were, I feel like the helmets themselves were just as integral to the "look" of higher ranking Dragon Knight/Dragon Master minifigs — especially since the Black Knights had already used the same dragon-shaped ornaments on more generic helmet pieces. And I strongly doubt that LEGO has Dragon Knight inspired helmet AND helmet accessory designs waiting in the wings.

Of course, LEGO could also throw us all for a loop by replacing the Dragon Knight minifigure with a different character entirely, such as a modernized version of the Black Knight, Willa the Witch, or the Black Monarch's Ghost. After all, even though the original set was a Dragon Knights/Dragon Masters set, Majisto's current incarnation from 10305 does not appear to have exclusive authority over or loyalty to that faction. And from a play perspective, Majisto was the "star" of the original set, while the Dragon Knight was a supporting character whose role could just as easily be played by a different LEGO Castle character.

A reimagined Dragon Masters knight could do something even crazier by using the dragon costume headgear that we got in the CMF series 18 & 23. Either in the classic black, with red horns and printed teeth, or pearl dark grey with black printing to indicate that the upper head is the helmet's hinged visor.

I would absolutely hate that haha

Yes, but those sets where developed together at the same time so if we get a medieval village later this year that would be true, but a CMF next year I do not think would work:shrug_oh_well:

I hope not  Chima knights :enough:

I'd rather they just re-use the lion knights or black falcons than a dragon master without the helmet and plumes.

I agree. On the other hand, I would totally accept black knights without any new molds if the torso and leg prints are great.

Yeah, I'd be fine with that too.

Much prefer having the money go to plumes. Leg prints are never good.

I'd go so far as to say I'd accept no plumes if it meant having unprinted legs.

Same here, I'm not a fan of (some) leg prints. My modern Black Falcons have plain black legs instead of the official ones, for example. I like to pose figures and if the print is continuous across the torso waist and thighs it looks a bit crap. Whereas decoration for things like knee pads, pockets, boots, etc (esp dual molding for boots) are fine by me.

I have been appreciating leg prints since the year 2000 with https://brickset.com/minifigs/cas246.

But I am fine without leg prints too. For example, I would prefer to see torso variations over leg prints.

Surprised nobody's brought up all the fun new parts in the the Tranquil Garden set!

For starters, it introduces Earth Green recolors of the fern and 2x2x3 drill/cone. The latter is used in this set for neatly-trimmed ornamental trees, but could also be used for roof cones (as seen with the Sand Green ones in various Harry Potter sets).

It's also got a cool new 2x2 roof plate/tile with raised corner, in both Dark Brown and Dark Stone Grey. This part's most obvious use is for traditional Japanese architecture, as seen in this set, but I suspect there could be many more potential uses for it given its size and simplicity!

The set also has Tr. Light Blue 1x2 tiles with two different koi patterns: both this one which has already shown up in the LEGO Friends botanical garden, and an alternate pattern that's primarily orange with dark spots. These are less versatile for historic uses than some of the other parts (in that they represent one specific type of subject matter), but they're still some neat parts I figured I ought to mention.

The new Disney Castle has now been officially revealed and it seems like it contains a bounty of Sand Blue and Light Nougat parts (including 1x2 masonry bricks), for those who want to build castles or medieval houses with slightly more vibrant colors of stone than usual! That said, most of the arches in the set are in more common colors like Brick Yellow, Reddish Brown, and Medium Stone Grey.

There are also numerous Warm Gold parts in the set, which may be a bit glitzy for true "historic" castles but work nicely for fantasy or fairy-tale models. Some of the newer recolors I see in this color include several 1x1x5 bricks and 1x2x2 window frames (the latter previously appearing only once in Ninjago City Markets).

One interesting printed part in the set is a Warm Gold 2x4 tile with rounded ends, representing the magic mirror from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Since the spooky face representing the "spirit" of the mirror is absent here (unlike the version of the magic mirror that came with the Evil Queen CMF), it could be easily repurposed in historic MOCs as a fancy/expensive mirror without magical properties.

There are also several Medium Stone Grey 1x3 tiles with printed arrow loops. While I suspect most Castle builders will prefer brick-built arrow loops that create an actual gap, this may still be of interest to some medieval builders — perhaps even outside of that specific purpose (since the pattern is fairly generic).

Inside one of the rooms, there's a neat spinning wheel build alluding to Sleeping Beauty, this time in a subdued black rather than the flashier colors featured in many spinning wheel builds from previous Disney Princess sets. Its parts all seem fairly common, so I suspect it'd be easy enough to replicate in medieval MOCs!

Most of the minifigs in the castle this time around are princes and princesses, so it could be a great source of clothing for nobility in Castle MOCs. Flynn Rider from Tangled is also present, so his clothes may be more suited to peasant or outlaw characters than the glitzier outfits on many of the other characters. Of the unprinted minifig parts, some recolors that stand out are Prince Naveen's Cool Yellow (bright light yellow) epaulets and cape.
