Yeah, I noticed that too, but wasn't completely sure this 'lilac' variation was the same as the alien cmf torso. Thanks for confirming. Quote

The design looks like a cross between the RDT dragon and something from Ninjago, and it is obviously an update of the classic green-with-red-wings dragon of the Dragon Masters! My only criticisms are that there are no Minifigs, and that the eyes and lower jaw look a bit derpy (though both should be easy fixes) - Overall, an excellent design! There is also an interesting detail on the box art - A castle in the background, with a design that does not directly correspond to any made before! While this could absolutely mean nothing, LEGO has often placed future sets into the background of others’ box are (not as often in Creator, however), so we could be getting a look at the next Creator castle! The castle’s colours are similar to the 3-in-1, but it is primarily light grey instead of dark grey; the layout looks similar to the Yellow Castle (small gatehouse, two towers in the middle of the side walls, and a tall tower in the centre of the back wall), but the towers on the sides are not identical (left side’s is smaller, while the right’s is wider and has a yellow building with a dark blue roof), the gatehouse appears to be flush with the front wall (rather than offset forward a bit, as in both the YC and 3-in-1), and the gatehouse appears to have a door rather than a drawbridge. The new creator dragon does look pretty good in my opinion. The lower jaw does look a bit off but can easily be modified. I wasn't expecting figs in that one as figs usually only come in certain 3in1 sets like the castle or the viking ship. There are 2 sheep and a lamb in the new city tractor set. Bring on the sheep I would like to get more and it's only a 19.99 dollar set. This creator dragon set also probably answers the question as to why Lego changed the color of the dragon from the DnD set. Edited November 13, 2024 by zoth33 Quote
Triceron Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 I just got me some sheep off Brickkink since I missed em on PAB... I hate how they retired them just to bring it back. Just keep the animals around! Quote

I don't really think the D&D dragon would be changed in response to a non-licensed set coming out a year later. If anything it'd be the other way around—the D&D dragon is subject to licensor approval so specific changes like that could be requested, whereas a dragon in a theme like Creator could be any color the designers want (though green is a nice classic color for dragons which probably factored into the decision). zoth33 Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 It's not quite a year later but they may not have wanted the DnD dragon green and red knowing they have a creator dragon coming in that color scheme. Quote

Yeah, would have hoped for a recolour if they have no other set that has them in production, At least a white one without black face would have been doable, then they wouldn´t have needed an other lamb too. 3 hours ago, zoth33 said: It's not quite a year later but they may not have wanted the DnD dragon green and red knowing they have a creator dragon coming in that color scheme. Triceron Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 (edited) Red fits better on D&D anyways since red dragons are typically the viIlainous poster boys of the franchise, being the meanest types of chromatic dragons in the lore. They've graced the covers of their sourcebooks and even appear in the classic logo. Red Dragons are the typical fire breathing variety we associate classic dragons to. Green dragons in D&D don't even breath fire. Edited November 15, 2024 by Triceron Quote

Since there is quite some time between the Creator and the D&D Set, that seems more than unikely. First of all with all the Ninjago Dragons around they have plenty of red ones too and I don´t think they would really mind if they had a similar colour, since aside from that they are still very different. And if they would actually be bothered about it they would have rather made the Creator one in a different colour and not changed the one from the D&D Set. Quote

That doesn't mean anything the creator set could have been in the works for awhile and they might not have released it till now. I'm just saying it's a possibility. Yeah lego does love doing red dragons but Ninjago has been doing dragons for a long time. Also maybe they had this creator dragon color scheme in mind for some time as it is like the old molded dragon and changing the DnD dragon which is also an homage to the original dragon would make more sense for lego. 14 hours ago, Triceron said: Red fits better on D&D anyways since red dragons are typically the viIlainous poster boys of the franchise, being the meanest types of chromatic dragons in the lore. Lego does love their red dragons though. Do you have the new Ninjago source dragon it's massive and my favorite lego dragon so far and just looks menacing and fits right in with fantasy settings or DnD. Quote

BTW, since we have occasionally gotten palette-swap rereleases of Creator sets in the past, I would love to get a spooky “Halloween” version of this dragon in black and orange/trans-orange at some point! Ah, that makes sense! From what I know, dragons in DnD are fully-sentient beings (not just mindless monsters), and each colour has certain attributes associated with it. The sheep was not retired (in the sense that the goat was for so long!) - Parts disappear and reappear on PAB all the time, in relation to the retirement dates of the sets in which they appear. As for what we get in the City tractor, the current sheep (white with black) and the current lamb (white) were both released last in sets from 2022 (the City barn and the LKC respectively), so when those sets retire, those parts will no longer be produced until another set uses them - Because of this, I am fine with not getting any recolours, since the City tractor is keeping the existing sheep and lamb pieces in-production! The main point is, that with no other Set having the sheep included next year aside from new sets, it would have been easy for them to just produce a new colour, without the need to produce two different colours at a time, let alone to have them stored. So the only difference where they safe something by using the old one, is that they don´t need to hold more sheep as replacements parts. Quote

It's still a major FOMO gamble for whether they bring em back at all. Like even now a whole bunch of pirate torsos are going away soon. Which will be coming back in new sets? No one will know and for how long, and their retirements are all quite sudden even if we can predict it coinciding with retiring sets. PAB orders aren't as simple to make as a mere bricklink order either. They split stiff up to bestsellers and muck with product availability which also affects the shipping thresholds. If a piece happens to sell out in your cart they just remove it entirely. So you gotta watch it like a hawk and keep track of what is still in stock while trying to make the most out of a gwp or double vip deal. And then sudden retirements add more chaos. I'd been looking for sheep for almost a year since they retired last nov. It was just pure luck on my part that i was able to find all I wanted on bricklink for reasonable prices and luckily, free shipping. Quote

Aanchir Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Honestly, I already wouldn't have expected LEGO to make their next big Castle exclusive a Wolfpack castle any more than I would expect them to make it a Forestmen castle, because both of those are outlaw factions rather than knight factions. So it suits them to remain scrappy underdogs compared to factions like the Lion Knights, Black Falcons, Black Knights, and Dragon Knights. And I don't think this BDP set really changes the likelihood of LEGO making smaller Wolfpack sets (like a re-imagining of 6038) one way or another. In fact, that would be an especially appealing option for a new Castle set (or part of a new Castle set), considering none of the other recent Castle throwback sets have included four-wheeled carriages with steering, just smaller two-wheeled carts. Aside from that, they can also still make a non-retail Set with them in form of a GWP. 2 hours ago, Aanchir said: Honestly, I already wouldn't have expected LEGO to make their next big Castle exclusive a Wolfpack castle any more than I would expect them to make it a Forestmen castle, because both of those are outlaw factions rather than knight factions. Well I agree that they wouldn´t make a castle for them, but a ruin or a tower would still work well. And yeah, they are bandits, though I have to say, unlike the forestmen you could also see them as a band of robber knights. 2 hours ago, Aanchir said: And I don't think this BDP set really changes the likelihood of LEGO making smaller Wolfpack sets (like a re-imagining of 6038) one way or another. That is still the set I am hoping they would make as a GWP (was my hope for Black Friday this year, though castle two times in a row was kinda unlikely to happen anyways). Chances to get it as a retail set are almost zero anyways I guess, unless it would be included in a bigger castle set. Quote
