No it was not, the designer said it would come in another set (made for it). With the crappy budget on MTS do you think they had a new mould one there Quote

Roebuck Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 That is not how things work, things are not as simple as that! Just look at designer interviews.. However the designers of a set can look around and see what other designers work on and what moulds are coming if something fits in their set they can ask if they can use it. Quote
brimbolet Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 I wish the new door pieces wold be slightly bigger/wider... they're used in the Peach castle set as a 8stud wide gate, but a farm cart or carriage won't probably pass through because of the exposed hinges. Quote

We don´t know if it actually used the budget, but we already know it will come in the D&D Set. We will have to wait for Designer interviews and hope the info is shared there. Quote

zoth33 Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 Does anyone think those doors from the mario sets would be great for the front gates of a Minis tirith set? Quote

Fair point… it honestly surprises me a bit that they aren't one stud wider like doors with similar connections such as 87601 and 93096. I suppose one reason for this choice was that this way they work either with the 1x4x3 half-arches (like in King Boo's Haunted Mansion) or with the 1x5x4 half-arches (like in Peach's Castle), whereas if the radius were increased, they'd only really fit with the latter. That said, even with these proportions, they should work just fine with any cart or carriage with wheels six studs wide or narrower. The one from the Medieval Blacksmith would be too wide, certainly, but traditional medieval cart/carriage builds are usually at least two studs narrower than that one, like those from the Lion Knights' Castle or Medieval Town Square. Overall, I'm very excited for these doors! They're the first half-arch doors in a long time with really versatile hinges (certainly way easier to use in MOCs than 24054, which only really fit with one specific 4+ door frame mold), and certainly they will be great for modern revamps of many older Castle models as well. TeriXeri Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 (edited) Certainly nice doors, wonder how they'd fit on Icons Eldorado as well , original set used 1x3x6 doors , modern set uses 1x4x9 gates (which is very close to those 1x4x10 doors) 6090: Royal Knight's Castle had 2 door types as well, 1x5x11 is larger then this, but the 1x3x6 were smaller. 6081: King's Mountain Fortress (Lion Knights) , and 6059: Knight's Stronghold (Black Knights) had the 1x5x11 doors as well. 6082: Fire Breathing Fortress (Dragon Masters) had even different doors which were 1x4x8 , so same width, less height. Overall, there's potential for this to be reused, like it would be awesome to see LEGO do something like a Black Knights castle throwback combination of 6085: Black Monarch's Castle + 6059: Knight's Stronghold , if they don't want to have yet another raised rock castle, also black knights did not use dragon plumes in those sets yet, and a mainly black castle with grey details would be very different from Lion Knights' or 3-in-1 Castles, and they can always revisit black knights again with 6086: Black Knight's Castle if they get the plumes ready for Dragon Masters sets :) Edited March 12, 2024 by TeriXeri Quote

After all, an "exact/near-exact scale" remake of an older LEGO Castle set would inevitably struggle to look as grand and imposing as LKC, even with refined building techniques — hence why that approach is a better fit for smaller GWP models or small side-builds in a larger model that aren't meant to be so grand or imposing in the first place. And an "upscaled" remake like the 2022 Galaxy Explorer doesn't work nearly as well with modern or historic themes as sci-fi themes, in my opinion. But I agree that a black castle would stand out from LKC in a really nice way, especially if it employed different building techniques and other visual motifs as well. Quote

Yeah I did mention specific sets but mainly as examples were rounded doors were used, of course original new designs are often more interesting, but I mainly mentioned those 2 black knight sets as they stand out as one of the few non-raised baseplate castles from that time period, pretty much everything except Wolfpack Tower or Royal Drawbridge were on raised baseplates, after the initial Yellow / King's / Knight's / Falcon's castles) But since those doors are only 4 wide, not 5 or 6, they are probably best used as entrance to a Keep, or Tower, as 6 wide is a little small even for "classic" 80s scale 4 wide + wood wheels won't fit. Many 90s castle sets did have secondary entrances too however, notably the rear ramp at 6086: Black Knight's Castle, and 6090: Royal Knight's Castle even had 3 entrances, 1 drawbridge ramp, 1 small set of doors and then the main ramp + doors + portcullis (but both of those use quite large sections of raised baseplate , so would require considerable parts used on caves/basement if LEGO goes that approach again. I personally rather see a nice ground-level castle next, but I understand a 360 degree wall design with a keep as seperate central structure would take a lot of parts too , depending on scale, but perhaps a middle ground solution would be a 180 degree wall when hinged open. giving illusion of a much wider castle, while the rear would mainly for the Keep's Interior to access / view. Another interesting castle would be something based on a wooden pallisade + central structure, like an adapted Motte and Bailey, mainly featuring the Motte , on a not-so tall hill. Classic_Spaceman Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 (edited) Pics of the DnD set have appeared - In addition to all of the new medieval fantasy Minifig parts (with no exposed skin!) and two new printed shields (one round and one triangular), we also get recolours of the double pauldron and KK2 Shadow Knight helmet in pearl gold and flat silver respectively! Wardancer Posted March 17, 2024 Author Posted March 17, 2024 (edited) If the D&D CMF leak is legit an army Expansion is at hand. I really like: - dark green hood with antlers - new axe head - tan recurve bow - Blue shield with white Creature on it (the most High Elven shield I have ever seen) - weird spiky creature head in olive green And much more. A feast. I wonder how the golden Dragon looks under his armor. Edited March 17, 2024 by Wardancer Quote

There is a new daggar that the Githyanki is holding. That new small dragon piece is insane. Quote
kuzyabricks Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 Almost every single figure is a must have, it's insane! Going to incorporate these figures into my different factions. Which parts do you think we will see next year? Don't recall any Lego castle news for next year or later part of the year whatsoever. I'm expecting to see some of these new weapons in baradur Quote

Classic_Spaceman Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 These are absolutely amazing!! Standout parts for me are the new mace head, the adorable baby dragon, and that gorgeous new breastplate/pauldrons armour piece! I hope to see that become a fixture of future Castle sets - We need it in a variety of colours, with both printed and unprinted versions! I also think that it would work quite well for a remake of Dragon Masters, if LEGO ever revisits them. Quote

The Dragonborn is also supposed to be a Paladin. Quote
