There's obscure... and then there's too obscure. I tend to like the background characters that are actually noticable on screen and catch your attention despite their limited screentime. Aurra Sing, Max Rebo, Sidon Ithano, the ESB Bounty Hunters, Salacious Crumb, the Jedi Council, the Bith Band, Ree-Yees etc - those are the type of characters I enjoy seeing get made.

For others like Constable Zuvio and Airen Cracken I often wonder whats the point. If they can't even be seen anywhere in the films are they really worth releasing in a set?

Remember that LEGO released TC-4 as a polybag last year. I agree with you that they probably shouldn't make characters that obscure, but that doesn't mean they won't.

IMO Zuvio is as obscure to me as Max Rebo or Aurra Sing. It's a shame that he was cut from TFA, but he is a canon character and appeared somewhere in the background on Jakku. I mean, come on - we've had stuff like the TIE Defender in Lego! Anything is possible.

I do hope we get the Quadhopper somewhere down the line! It'd be a nice way to include some side characters that appeared on Jakku as well.

So are we getting more cloud city sets because we NEED lando and Leia I her white jump suit and bespin Luke and dinner Leia again

This is the the quandary, as I see it: We know that TLG has limited ability to make every minifig imaginable, so which is more important: Getting major characters in outfits not previously made like the aforementioned jumpsuit Leia (not including minuscule changes like Luke, flap up vs flap down)

Getting secondary characters that have never been made: Shmi, Beru, or dare I say it, Ponda Baba.

Getting obscure, blink-and-miss-them characters, or zero screen time at all, like Zuvio and Cracken.

I know which I find LEAST important.

I hope we don't get Zuvio. I'd rather get Bazine or Shmi, or any of the other costumes Padme wore.

Great to see the summer list start to take shape. I do wonder what's going on with the Rogue One sets, though. The that movie may be getting released about the same time as TFA, but if VIII is just six months later, the release schedule we're used to, two waves a year, is going to lose meaning for quite a while.

True, but a character being considered canon doesn't make them more or less obscure than other characters.

The viewer had a clear shot of Max Rebo playing in the Sail Barge. And Aurra Sing appeared a bit in the Clone Wars. So it made sense that they appeared in the sets that they did.

So the minifigure in the polybag is not Hux? Looks like I can only get Hux from Bricklink since I can't effort the Command Shutttle.....

Aside for that, the minifigure looks nice and he's new face looks good.

I don't have a clear image of the First Order officers who stand behind Hux during the speech/First Order rally, could the general be one of them? They were in black officer uniforms of some kind. They also appeared to be older, which would match the minifigure's face. I remember that clearly because I was thinking that everyone in the First Order was very young except for them.

Either way, I like it and will try to pick up several of them. I'm glad it's not Hux since he's already in a set.

I'm hoping this is just another TRU buy-in promo, so I can safely pass. I hope this isn't a Lego store buy-in promo, because it seems a bit of a waste.

Is that the guy

Who tells Kylo they lost BB-8, and when he mentions Rey, Kylo instantly choke holds him?

Yes, that is Lt. Mitika. :classic:

I too think there were some older officers in the background, perhaps it is one of them.

However, keep in mind this minifig does not have a general's uniform. Other than being miscoloured, it seems to be a colonel's or major's uniform.

(It also should be noted that the ranking system for the FO is quite cumbersome and not intuitive at all: lieutenants and captains have a dark grey uniform with code cylinders, distinguished by their cuff band title; majors and colonels have a teal uniform of a different pattern, again distinguished by their cuff titles; generals have a charcoal grey uniform (Lego chose black) with a pattern similar to that of the lieutenants/captains but without the code cylinders and different cuff band. Yeah, totally easy...)

Lego is really releasing another X-wing while Poe's personal one is still on shelves? Kinda weird ,but they probably have good reason to do so. Maybe the set will also include Lor San Tekkas hut and some Stormtroopers to make it a bit more different from last X-wing.

Just simply googling "LEGO 2016 new X wing set" yielded this image, without having to resort to military intel or torture of LEGO factory employees:

I'm guessing May 4th...

Was kinda hoping we'd see a minifig like Tie Fighter Elite pilot considering I'm not sure where we'll get him at this point. There was only one type of tie fighter in TFA and it was already released without him :sceptic:

Hey wait a minute... that's mine! I built that in LDD and posted it on Reddit awhile back, long before even the Force Friday sets were released.

It was more or less just a mock-up of what the official set could look like. Looking back, there's a few issues that need to be corrected.

As I said, I built it long before the official model was released, only going off of one leaked picture at the time.

Regardless, I do hope LEGO ends up using white as the base color, rather than light gray. The X-Wings in the film look much closer to white; there's even a shot in which the camera pans from an X-Wing to the Millennium Falcon, and you can clearly see that the X-Wing is white, whereas the Falcon is light gray.

I don't believe that is accurate. The two TIE fighters chasing the MF on Jakku appear to be standard but modern versions. Notice the lack of long range comm antenna as compared with the Special Forces version.
