LordLEGOtube Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 (edited) I think it's good that we're getting a standard resistance x-wing. I hope that we may also get a standard first order tie fighter (hopefully with the black structural bracing on the inside of the wings AS WELL as on the outside), and maybe even a special forces tie fighter pilot (which was NOT the pilot type included in the special forces tie fighter set, for some reason). And maybe they might get the colour of the laser right, too. Edited December 31, 2015 by LordLEGOtube Quote
Darth_Brick360 Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Where did the blockade runner rumor start? If it came from a reliable source, then I will be very happy. Quote
rollermonkey Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 I don't believe that is accurate. The two TIE fighters chasing the MF on Jakku appear to be standard but modern versions. Notice the lack of long range comm antenna as compared with the Special Forces version. Just got back from the theater watching TFA for the second time. There are definitely 2 types of TIEs. The ones with the black 'gear' ring, like the set we have, and ones without. Quote

lowlead Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 ...i hope the new X-Wing isn't an exact replica. I want them to change it up somehow.. Agreed. Perhaps find a way to make the engine intakes perfectly round, not oval - they look a bit off to me now. Quote
adotnamedstud Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Unbelievable... Absolutely unbelievable. That polybag could and should have immortalized fan favorite Stormtrooper TR-8R. Though we get him in Takodana, he's missing the charm and the shield. TRULY a missed opportunity by LEGO... C'mon! On a more serious note. The X-Wing and Jakku set may just be two sets that coincide and are based off of the first scene. I don't know why another X-Wing so soon though. Takodana additions and sets based on Starkiller would be so much better in my opinion. Then again I just fake ranted about how TR-8R needs a polybag! Quote
Backgild Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 I know it might not make sense, but I think this new X-wing we're getting will be smaller. That's not a bad thing in my opinion. This is a very intriguing possibility. I'm not a big fan of the current X-wing, so I'm curious what another take on the design might look like. If they do go this route, I do have sympathy for those that purchased the black X-Wing and were hoping to have a blue and white/grey wingman. Quote
Wonkyeye1 Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 So are the non-TFA sets launching in North America tomorrow? They aren't on the website. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 So are the non-TFA sets launching in North America tomorrow? They aren't on the website. Those aren't scheduled to be released yet. Battle of takadona, resistance transport, and TFA batlle packs are coming out tomorrow. Quote
BigEl Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Just got back from the theater watching TFA for the second time. There are definitely 2 types of TIEs. The ones with the black 'gear' ring, like the set we have, and ones without. Indeed, but Lego made a mistake, probably because of the same reason that Kylo Rens Shuttle has its flaws, lack of information. The Set we got is the Special Forces Version of the Tie with the Red Stripe, Antennae and the Deflector Shields, assumed to be the black gear-looking additions to the wings attachment. But the Minifigs we got with it are just regular Tie Pilots, not the proper Special Forces Ones with the Red Stripe on the Helmet, so that might confuse some people. On wookiepedia is a picture that features the "normal" First Order Tie Fighter: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE/fo_space_superiority_fighter Quote
atlas Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Just remember these things don't always make sense. Particularly in spaceships. Celebration Leia in a Y wing, Solo in an A wing! Airen Cracken in a B wing. It kind of does make sense though. Han and Ackbar (Han less so) were appropriate for 75003 in the sense that Lego doesn't seem to do star wars sets anymore that include one or no figures. There's no astromech in an A-wing so I happily accepted it, cheap Ackbar and updated Han. It's similar with 9495 and 75050. A yavin celebration set will never be released, so I was happy to get ahold of Leia in that costume. I also doubt a millenium falcon will be produced from the battle of endor. I was really happy that one of the gray squadron pilots were included with the B-wing, actually. It kind of makes sense, from a certain point of view Quote
Legofan2001 Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Come on when are they going to do more cloud city sets and AT St would be nice Quote
Nokturn Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Just ordered Battle On Takodana from Amazon, but it won't arrive until January 6th for some reason. I'm still having trouble understanding/accepting the apparent price hike; the set really should've stayed $50. Even the Target inventory still has it listed as $49.99, but everywhere else it's $59.99. That aside, Brickset is reporting a multitude of issues when ordering the new sets from LEGO.com. It's kind of mind-boggling to see LEGO.com have extreme issues as soon as January 1st rolls around. Happens every year, you'd think they would notice the issue and do their best to mitigate/fix it. Dameronian Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Resistance Troop Transporter ordered the second it came online at S@H USA a few minutes ago! The Bacon Castle is also available... Quote
mediumsnowman Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Hmm. The Resistance X-Wing microfighter isn't listed on Shop@Home, but the Snowspeeder one is? Quote
ChiefPie Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 When will the non-TFA sets be available? Quote
x105Black Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 When will the non-TFA sets be available? I was wondering the same. Looking forward to getting a couple of sets from the Original Trilogy. Quote
rollermonkey Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Sometimes, just sometimes you can just accept what Lucasfilm, the film and about 60 tie in books say...just saying I never disagreed. Just saying. Also: WTF? Set prices are WAY over what we'd been led to believe. $90 for Takodana? $110 for Resistance Transport? Ghostbusters HQ is $500! If this isn't a website screwup, and these are final prices, I've just been priced out of the hobby. Quote
will Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 That must be a mistake. They were over priced anyway! I'm holding off buying anything. Might just pickup up a few new minifigs off bricklink. Quote
rollermonkey Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 (edited) New OT and PT sets are there... At the exaggerated prices. And the Droid Escape sold out, even at the ripoff price of $45. And some of the Microfighters at $16. And some of the BPs at $23. Wow. Edited January 1, 2016 by rollermonkey Quote
Criss Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 (edited) I also think that is a mistake. Here in Germany on S@H the Takodana set is 60€, what is about 65$. Resistance Transport is 70€ Edited January 1, 2016 by Criss Quote
Kalais Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 It was a bug with prices in the official shop. It is fixed now, at least in Polish version. Quote
BigEl Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 A mistake? Well I wonder why such a mistake never occurs the other way around, with the prices being way lower than normal Also they probably dont be too eager too "fix" that mistake.... maybe its a new feature called New Years Sale, where you can spend even more money on your beloved lego franchises Quote
YellowCorvette Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 (edited) What? A Resistance Troop Transporter set with 600+ parts for $110? The Takadona playset with 409 parts for $60? The second wave of the TFA sets are way more overpriced than the first wave! Even a $75 price tag with suits The Resistance transporter set better than a $110 price tag. I love the design of the Resistance transporter, but the price per part ratio is way more terrible than the FO Special Force TIE Fighter. Very dissapointed. EDIT: So the terrible price tag is just a bug? Luckily the real price tag isn't $110, but the price tag is still kinda terrible like the Takadona set. Edited January 1, 2016 by ArmstrongYong Quote
Rogue Angel Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 IMO Zuvio is as obscure to me as Max Rebo or Aurra Sing. It's a shame that he was cut from TFA, but he is a canon character and appeared somewhere in the background on Jakku. I mean, come on - we've had stuff like the TIE Defender in Lego! Anything is possible. I do hope we get the Quadhopper somewhere down the line! It'd be a nice way to include some side characters that appeared on Jakku as well. This is the the quandary, as I see it: We know that TLG has limited ability to make every minifig imaginable, so which is more important: Getting major characters in outfits not previously made like the aforementioned jumpsuit Leia (not including minuscule changes like Luke, flap up vs flap down) Getting secondary characters that have never been made: Shmi, Beru, or dare I say it, Ponda Baba. Getting obscure, blink-and-miss-them characters, or zero screen time at all, like Zuvio and Cracken. I know which I find LEAST important. I hope we don't get Zuvio. I'd rather get Bazine or Shmi, or any of the other costumes Padme wore. If all your concerned with is screen time or "cannon" (lazy %^*&^ Disney!) material, then so be it. My guess is that this is the view of most people who display the figs and want the variety of costumes to show on their shelf, which is fine. There are folks that recreate scenes from the movie, so having Luke Skywalker in bacta-tank outfit is useful. For those of us that could care less about the "Cannon" label, and have read/played/watched all of the great books, comics, video games, card games, board games, rpgs, tv shows and movies out there, it is much better to get a Cracken or a Zuckuss then a single additional padme/amidala outfit, another remake of boba fett with printed inseams. And if you MOC beyond the core movie scenes, then every new alien mold is a godsend (thank you for Ugnaughts) and are the best things that Lego produces for Star Wars other than battle packs (Rebel Battlepack is aaaa-mazing!)
