Sneakguest Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 And I thought there is finally one LSW set for me this year with Vaders Tie.. again it's a Rebels set. I'm happy for everyone who likes this years setup, but since there are quiet a few OT fans around here, I wonder if anyone is as disappointed as me from 2016: - Empire BP with one figure from the movies - Rebels BP with no minifig from the movies - Bespin set is not really interesting, overpriced, with only one new minifig - Hoth has nothing new to offer, very overpriced - Droid Escape has nothing new, overpriced - now Vaders Tie isn't an OT set = 2 minifigures, no army builder and no single starfighter, no interesting playset..... Only UCS Hoth and Snowspeeder left for me to hope. And with my focus on OT and my luck, the Snowspeeder might be the infamous Episode 7 one! OK, rant over - the last years have been a blast for anyone OT and I'm very aware of that: X-wing, Y-wing, Falcon, Snowspeeder, AT-AT, Cantina, Sandcrawler, Slave I, TIE, Star Destroyer, Tydirium, A-wing, B-wing, Ewok Village, Jabbas Palace, Sail Barge.... I know I shouldn't complain. I do agree... so far the only set for 2016 I want to buy is the Battle of Takadona, but I won't buy it until I get one second hand or at a discount... paying like 80 euros for that in Sweden... no thank you... But I also agree that some years, especially 2013 was the gold year for SW lego according to me... was really above expectations and 2012, 2014 and 2015 was not too bad either, so I assume it can't last forever Even the new movie was really bad according to me after my expectations, my only comfort was the new Tarantino movie, there is at least someone that never disappoints you Quote
Darth_Brick360 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 If they are rogue one sets, I certainly hope we get a non clone wars cad bane, in one of them. Quote
jindianajonz Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 (edited) I'm hoping the rumors of Rogue One having a full stable of bounty hunters are true, and we can finally get 4LOM and Zuckuss. Edited January 4, 2016 by jindianajonz Quote
_epicster_ Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Rebels Vader could be cool, some dark red printing on the eye lenses could make for an awesome variant. Quote
Darth_Brick360 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 When do we usually get pictures for the summer wave? NY toy fair? Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 The Darth Vader set is definitely a based off of rebels. The new Darth Vader helmet looks intended for rebels, perhaps Lego thought this through. When do we usually get pictures for the summer wave? NY toy fair? We get preliminary pictures a little before toy fair, so expect them soon if they leak. Quote
Aethersprite Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Some interesting news.... 75150 Darth Vader's TIE Advanced vs A-wing Rejoice! If it comes with only Vader and Ahsoka, I don't even care if it doesn't come with any other minifigs instabuy for me. Quote
Dameronian Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 (edited) It's only $60 at Target. ;) Yeah might as well delete my S@H account. What's use if major outlets undercut Lego so much from day 1 of availability. No VIP points can make up for this Edited January 5, 2016 by Dameronian Quote
LegoBari31 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Yeah might as well delete my S@H account. What's use if major outlets undercut Lego so much from day 1 of availability. No VIP points can make up for this You might want to take that back, the price for both the Resistance Troop Transport and Battle of Takodana are set at retail price at Target, though I do agree that Battle of Takodana is too expensive. Also the prices for the rumored summer sets seem too expensive, the only set that makes sense in my mind, for its price, is the Clone Turbo Tank. I also want to note that the cheapest set is $70, if one excludes the Podracer which doesn't seem to have a concrete price, which is way to high for Lego's main market. Quote
RetroInferno Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Yeah might as well delete my S@H account. What's use if major outlets undercut Lego so much from day 1 of availability. No VIP points can make up for this That pricing must an an error from Target: It's very unusual for new Lego sets (especially Star Wars) to offer an inferior price than the official one. And about the only downside of shopping at S@H is the shipping time and availability of some sets. Otherwise, the double VIP points events can really remove some burden of the cost. But back into the topic, the new Tie Advanced (prototype???) and A-Wing set has me really excited, both for the models and mini-figs. My only concern was that Vader's Tie Advanced would be very similar to the Prototype we did get in 2015, but after a closer inspection Vader's ship seems to be a fully fledged and proper Tie Advanced unlike the ones Inquisitors have, which will please OT fans as much as Rebels ones ( I hope ). The A-wing could also be interesting , we did see 2 colors applied to this ship in the show ( green and blue ) but the design isn't that different from the OT (bigger side guns and angled back fins maybe ). This set is the one most standing out for me, for the moment... Quote
Darth_Brick360 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 $100 dollars seems a little pricey for just Vader's TIE and an A-wing. Maybe there will be another small build, or maybe they just needed a lot of pieces to make 2 good starfighters. I guess we will have to wait and see. Quote

Maybe there will be another small build, or maybe they just needed a lot of pieces to make 2 good starfighters. I guess we will have to wait and see. Maybe it contains a small build like you mentionned and is mini-figs heavy? It was rumored not too long ago that both the new Inquisitors ( Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister ) would make an appearance, which would also justify Ashoka's presence in this set. Or maybe it's horribly over-priced like 75096. Thinking of it, a set containning both new Inquisitors, Vader, Ahsoka and probably throw in a A-wing pilot in there would rank the exclusive mini-figs bar through the roof. Quote

But that slightly stinks for me because I mainly want it for the TIE advanced and A-wing. The only minifig I really want out of those is ahsoka. Quote

I know I shouldn't complain. I heavily prefer OT to all else, and I have to disagree with you. Rebel Alliance BP - finally some non-unique standard use rebels. Other than the Rebel Troopers we received YEARS ago, we have been without any generic rebel figures that aren't focuses to a specific climate (hoth troopers, endor troopers). Plus a duros AND a rodian? Fantastic BP, and the best we've seen since the Snowtrooper BP. Galactic Empire BP - It is unfortunate that the stormies come with dirt on their helmets/torsos, but not the end of the world. This also comes with the an imperial office with the new kepi, which has been hard to acquire previously. I'm sure the shock troopers will be useful to someone... Escape Pod - finally a cheap way to get Jawas! If only they came with capes. Carbon Freezing Chamber - Ugnaughts! These were the only thing missing from a good Cloud City MOC, and we finally can get them! Hoth Attack..... yeah, this a complete bust. No use for this set at all. I'm sure that kids will like it though. We are not getting the Tydirium, Death Star Duel, UCS Slave 1 and new Tuskens, so it is not as good as last year, but this also only the first wave. Of all the things I wanted from OT though, generic Rebel fighters and Ugnaughts were among my most wanted. Zuckus, 4-Lom, Ponda Boba, Ephont Mon and a Bantha are the other things I'm waiting on (along with Quarren, Devaronians and Kubaz). Quote
frank_day Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 (edited) Wait, it is rumored that 75143 is confidential A-wing starfighter. But now 75150 has A-wing VS Tie Advanced, so how much A-wings will we have? Edited January 5, 2016 by frank_day Quote

Maybe it isn't "A-Wing" but rather "a wing" so 2 separate sets with a (1) wing included in each... Quote

I still have hopes for an add-on set complimentary to the 2014 cantina, centered around the villains ( Wuher and Ponda Baba are mandatory ) and maybe the Kubaz spy. Lego still has to make a set about the Tusken Raiders encounter and that 3D Bantha that showed up in one of the Skyhopper promo video can't be a coincidence. I also share your feelings about this wave's mini-figs selection, but most of the builds are problematic ( plethora of stickers for the droid escape, carbon freezing chamber is meh (except if it can be attached to a future bespin set). Amazing Bricks Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Maybe it isn't "A-Wing" but rather "a wing" so 2 separate sets with a (1) wing included in each... Boy, would that be a disappointment. Doubt it though, this would be a really great set if two vehicles are included. Quote
pcsguy88 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I don't get Lego's set list for this summer. We usually have 2-3 $100 sets sitting on the shelves from different waves at any one time and now practically all the sets are $100 and above? What the heck are kids suppose to do? This also eliminates all of those sets I buy out of shear boredom because I need something to occupy my evening. It just doesn't make sense. Quote
RetroInferno Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Maybe it isn't "A-Wing" but rather "a wing" so 2 separate sets with a (1) wing included in each... Lego's version of DLC I can hardly imagine 100$ US worth of lego including only the Tie Advanced and a small build, it has to be a pretty huge set. Quote
joebiwankenobi Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 (edited) Could the Tie Advanced set include a Y-Ying and be based off the trench run from Episode IV rather than Rebels? As in a complete recreation of the 1999 set but with both fighters updated. It makes more sense at $100 considering $50 for the Y-Wing and Tie advanced respectively. The last Y-Wing was released in 2012 at $50. Furthermore, it's more resonable. There hasn't been a space battle between Tano and Vader in Rebels and I don't think there will be one in season 2. I believe they will hold off for a showdown between master and apprentice until later on. Has there been any confirm on it being a rebels set? I've read but haven't seen any definitive confirmation. ISDAvenger Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Has there been any confirm on it being a Rebels set? I've read but haven't seen any definitive confirmation. This...right here. Personally I hope Vaders TIE is not a Rebels set. I woukd like to see an updated Interceptor and Bomber too. Quote
Mahtion Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Vaders Tie Advanced is confirmed as a Rebels set because it comes with Ahsoka. I doubt a faithful OT Trench Run set would include a character exclusive to the animation. Quote

I doubt a faithful OT Trench Run set would include a character exclusive to the animation. It hasn't been confirmed that it's coming with Ahsoka. It's been confirmed that it is coming with another build and is currently rumored to be an A-wing. I'm curious to see where this goes. Quote
MartinCliffe Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I thought someone said the A-Wing was coming with Sabine? Which was a strange choice... but time will tell. I for one am excited about these releases, although I'll probably only be buying 1 of each (and maybe not all of them). Hopefully we will be getting both new Inquisitors, and adult Ahsoka. I was still in my Dark Ages when the last Turbo Tank came out, so I'm excited by this one. I'd like it to come with some standard P2 clones, like the Micro Fighter version did, as that's probably my favourite Clone Trooper variant. Quote
