CM4Sci Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Amazingbricks dropped a hint about Luke being the May the Fourth minifig on January 10th: http://www.eurobrick...75#entry2434419 The latest bits of information coming from his sources have been somewhat unreliable, but he stated he had misinterpreted some of it The rumor should thus be taken with a grain of salt I suppose Yeah, I wouldn't really count on it. Grain of salt. I'm assuming there's gonna be another Force Friday this year? One every year for the next.. few years? When were the TFA sets first found? Quote
kylosuperfan Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 The rumor should thus be taken with a grain of salt I suppose I'm pretty sure that's why we call them rumors. Well. Now I guess we buckle up and hope and pray. I think it would be awesome to MOC the whole island from the end of the movie, with the Falcon etc. Of course, 13 years, 18 billion pieces, and a million bucks later, it probably wouldn't be worth it... Legoman123 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Even if we don't see Luke this year we a pretty much guaranteed to see him next year with the episode 8 sets. Quote
Gadzooks Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 ...it probably wouldn't be worth it... Surely you jest. Quote
benderisgreat Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Even if we don't see Luke this year we a pretty much guaranteed to see him next year with the episode 8 sets. Yeah, I don't think Lego will put such a desirable minifigure in free polybag. More likely he will appear in ep 8 sets, so in a bit more than a year. Quote
Junior Shark Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 I bet one of the Rogue One sets will be that Imperial transporter thing in these photos: https://metrouk2.files.wordpress.com/2015/08/ad_177599907.jpg?w=748&h=498&crop=1 Spoilers? Idk Quote

I partially agree because it would make a lot of sense to have in the Episode 8 sets where he will be a much more prominent character, however he is a much desired minifig so having him under the "minimum purchase" requirement will increase set sales. Junior Shark Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) @ Vodnik: No, I'm almost positive they're two different ships. Here's a look at the FO Transport: http://geekculture.c...2016/01/4-1.jpg And the RO ship: https://metrouk2.fil...48&h=498&crop=1 Yes, they are similar. And the Rogue One ship is undoubtedly supposed to be the evolutionary antecedent to the First Order ship. However: 1. Different top searchlights (small detail, but helpful) 2. The RO ship lacks the FO one's side lights. 3. The RO ship gets wider much closer to the front of the ship. The FO ship is more or less the same width along its whole length. 4. The angle of the hull above the ramp on the RO ship looks steeper than the FO one, more like a Lambda or Sentinel nose. Edited February 3, 2016 by Junior Shark Quote

This seems more likely, the Sentinel is used heavily in Rebels. It would be cool to get an update from the 2007 version. I hope they don't make yet another variation of the Empire stormtrooper. I mean what is better for Lego from financial standpoint : to release Luke in free polybag or put him in what will probably be one of the more expensive Ep 8 sets like they did with Han in TFA sets? I think may 4th promo Luke is very unlikely. Edited February 3, 2016 by benderisgreat Quote
nymmerod Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 When were the TFA sets first found? I believe we got our first vague reports of TFA sets around Valentine's day last year. No set names just price for each set and a vague description like "hero vehicle". Quote
kylosuperfan Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 But do you not think Luke will have costume variations in the next film? I would say 'hooded Luke' polybag for May 4th and hoodless Luke (maybe in a different costume) in the ep 8 sets. Or the other way around. Quote
Venkefedo Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 MANNNN... Why couldn't they have done something more exclusive as a preorder bonus? *cough cough Luke cough* I can make a FN 2187. No he won't be sandy, but still. Why a rehash when we could've had something new? I prefer exclusives to be more like this... minor variants that aren't really vital to most collectors. That's what bugged me about the SDCC minifigs, so many were characters that comic Lego fans would LOVE to have (Bizarro, Phoenix, Symbiote Spider-Man, etc), even if some of them have been redone in regular sets since. Good point... It was the same way with Martian Manhunter there for a while... That being said, a preorder bonus is easier to come by than a SDCC exclusive. Iron Patriot was a good example of something that really worked in my opinion. Edited February 3, 2016 by kylosuperfan Quote

The problem there is that Iron Patriot should've been in one of the Iron Man sets, since they were all based on Iron Man 3--which featured Iron Patriot! War Machine should've been the bonus figure... or, better yet, Iron Man Mark II with WM in a regular set somewhere. Quote

Before the RO pictures even came out, there was information released (can't remember where) where it was stated that the RO shoot was repurposing many sets and props from TFA, with the troop transport being one of them. Maybe it'll be recoloured/altered but I think they are the same thing. Sorry, this is nothing to do with any future sets... Yet! Quote
Fives Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 5 Rogue One sets is amazing. For some reason I feared LEGO would start skimping on waves for new films, similar to how they do things with the DC and Marvel sets. Hopefully the smallest set will include some good unique characters. I could imagine Felicity Jones' character and perhaps one of the rumoured Death Troopers or something. My main hopes is that we get new ANH era X-Wing and TIE Fighter sets, as well as maybe a location set for the Massasi Temple (although perhaps a set like that would make more sense in the Jan 2017 wave, much like Takodana this year). One thing I am definitely hoping for is some very unique alien characters. Neal Scanlan has said that they are gonna be developing very realistic alien effects, so hopefully that means some of the main characters will be non-human. Quote
Legoman123 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 I assume if we are seeing five sets we wil be getting a £100-£130 set. Hopefully there will be a 'base' type set as I can't really see us getting another Star Destroyer so soon after the previous one. Unless there's a new big hero ship them maybe we could see Yavin 4. Venkefedo Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Where did you here about a Massassi temple? am not criticising, if there was a set on this it would be amazing!! In the one cast photo that's been released so far, the background seems clearly to be the Massassi temple interior. Dusty, cobwebbed stone structures with vines & other growths all over it, some garage off the main hangar probably (or in another temple; for all we know, they converted multiple structures into their base for different divisions). Granted, the Resistance Base interiors looked a lot like Yavin IV as well--could be they intentionally did that so they could reuse a bit, and just made sure the exteriors of D'Qar were quite a bit different. As for the FO transports, it may be a case of them using the physical prop/set for the interiors, and then changing the exterior digitally to de-evolve it a few decades for use in Rogue One. Then again, the regular FO TIEs are just a color-swap of OT TIEs... Even if they do alter the new "old" transports digitally, I doubt they'll make a set outta them (so we'll just have to hope for more stormies in other sets, and/or a Battle Pack come January) Quote
Delta66 Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I'm still not sure why you think it specifically belongs to the Massassi? But it would be so awesome, and not too unrealistic a possibility too, if the rebels connections to kotor are shaping up to be! Quote
DarthPotato Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 AT-AT's will apparently be in Rogue One. I think Hasbro's making a toy of one. So I'm going to guess the largest set would be another AT-AT (I'd rather it not be that, but look at the amount of X-Wings we've gotten recently...). As for when we see Luke, if he isn't the May the Fourth polybag, we'll at least get a good look of how he'll probably look from The Force Awakens Video Game. I'm excited to see what other designs we'll see in the game that we haven't gotten physically yet (Rathtars? Guavian Death Gang? Aliens at Maz's castle?). Quote

It likely takes place over the days leading right up to ANH, which means the Alliance base on Yavin IV is established. The stonework, the decor, the timeframe, it all screams "Yavin IV temples" Quote
