analogkid81 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Not sure what to think about this set. For $80, it's a no for sure. Between the junk stand and the bright blue Luggabeast, my excitement for it has gone down considerably. Quote
DarkLordSauron Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) I'm no fan of tFA, but I will give it the credit of having a plethora of set-worthy ships and scenes. Why are Niima and another X-Wing the ones Lego decided to go with? Edited February 9, 2016 by DarkLordSauron Quote
Darth Mallet Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Apart from what Venkefedo said above dont also forget that these are desperate times where Jedi are not as regulated as they used to be. Star Wars has attracted female fans way before Ahsoka was created so not sure where you got that theory from. Plus, Ahsoka has got as many male fans as female ones (if not even more). As a matter of fact I am glad that SW has decided to address the gender inequality in terms of characters. If you have nothing against Ahsoka personally then why spew so much venom against her? Is your male supremacy being thratened? Completely missing the point, I like the fact Star Wars attracts every type of person. Forget that it's Ashoka or any other female character for a second, the character itself was inserted for marketing purposes and that's it. No mention of her in ROTS whatsoever. That's my point. Enough now please, I'm not sexist or anything else, the character was created for other reasons Quote
Richpepperell Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Brick Fan just posted our first clear look at the Encounter of Jakku set. Feeling meh with the junk stand play set... http://www.thebrickf...k-book-listing/ I know we're also getting the luggerbeast etc with this set, but I already get the impression this is another set you'd have to get multiples of to recreate something worthwhile. I feel this is a bit of a trend lately, with the carbon freezing chamber and the takodana castle. Quote

I feel this is a bit of a trend lately, with the carbon freezing chamber and the takodana castle. I also feel like they are trying to justify the higher price of these sets by including that one exclusive figure. Encounter has Unkar, Takodana had Maz and helmet less Kylo and Carbonite had the Ugnaught. Guess they assume the minifigures make up for the rest of the lackluster set and become the selling point. jhaelego Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Brickset is reporting the Jakku set will be around $49.99. From where is the confusion coming? Quote
Legoman123 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 This is deffinitly one of my favourites from the summer line. The detail in the set is awesome. Quote
Schneeds Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I've never even gotten to the end of TCW, and I think she's an important enough character that I got chills when she showed up on Rebels. ...and as an OT fan who saw SW in the original theater run, I say this: If you aren't interested in seeing a resolution to the story of Anakin's first padawan, you aren't a real fan. Watch Rebels. It is well worth it. ...and I can't wait to get her minifig and white sabers, no matter how crappy whatever set she's in turns out to be. Have to agree her reemergence in Rebels was quite epic. The character grew quite a lot and I think the minifig will be quite popular. Quote
PickleManDan Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Brickset is reporting the Jakku set will be around $49.99. From where is the confusion coming? I think Just2Good said that the price was going to be around $80, yet he was saying it isn't the confirmed price. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 75148 does look cool, even though I don't get the purpose of that stud-shooter At least in SW, those have exclusively been used in battlepacks thus far... Does Plutt even own a blaster in the movie? Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Wasn't $80 on the toy fair displays? Perhaps that's the UK price. $50 sounds great, but highly unlikely. The force awakens sets are expensive. Quote
Silverwolf28 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I'll get the Encounter on Jakku for $50 but for $80, HELL NO! Quote
jdm44 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Brickset is reporting the Jakku set will be around $49.99. From where is the confusion coming? Brickset has updated the price to $79.99. I'll pass. Quote

Does Plutt even own a blaster in the movie? He probably owns one, even if we didn't see it. It may have factored into the deleted scene where he tracks the Falcon to Takodana (and gets his arm ripped off by Chewie). Quote
jedikitty Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) I was excited about the Jakku set, but definitely going to pass. Doesn't seem like Rey has a new face and I'm not into the set itself. At least it'll (hopefully) make BB-8's price on Bricklink go down some ? Solely created to entice girls to like Star Wars and Kiddify the whole thing. Wrong, because she was created after the event to entice new fans, the character itself was inserted for marketing purposes and that's it. the character was created for other reasons You worked on The Clone Wars and know this for a fact ? Because you keep stating that like it is, and not a personal opinion. So that's pretty awesome - I'd love to hear stories about what it's like to work on a Star Wars show ! :) It's fine that you don't like her - but you're stating opinion as fact, and a bit rudely. I also didn't appreciate the sexist-like comments. But, you seem to be trying to be more general now and I appreciate that. Edited February 10, 2016 by jedikitty Quote

Sneakguest Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Brickset has updated the price to $79.99. I'll pass. If that is the price in US, I don't wanna dream about the price in Sweden and for just two exclusive minifigures? I'll will wait until any of my friends will go overseas or buy it sale... Quote
Brick Capone Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I'm not going to be getting the Encounter of Jakku set at this horrid price.. Quote
General Magma Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Before you know it, they'll start asking sixty portions for one set! Quote

Forget that it's Ashoka or any other female character for a second, the character itself was inserted for marketing purposes and that's it. No mention of her in ROTS whatsoever. That's my point. You know she actually was in AOTC, right? "From a certain point of view"... the character that evolved thru the development process to become her originated in AOTC, as the little Togruta youngling Ashla in the Great Bear Clan taught by Yoda. They had to age her up a bit to be a viable Padawan for Anakin, and changed her name since nobody would really accept Lil Ashla as a Padawan of consequence (that's why there were repeated remarks about her age & she got mistaken for a Youngling in the Clone Wars movie; she was originally meant to be even younger!) Quote
CommanderBacara Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 its probably not $80 but if it is you have to keep in mind it also has the luggabeast even though it looks like crap. I wouldnt have bought it in the first place anyway Quote
Artanis I Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Bricklink the new minifigs by the look of it Quote
Junior Shark Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 $80?!? Sooooo one Niima set or eight Galactic Empire Battle Packs? Sheesh, that set's starting to look worse than the Takodana one. Quote
