Freemakers, not Freemason, that is something way different. Hahahah. Hopefully we'll see all the star wars stuff this week. I wanna see new Ahsoka

Yes no chance of freemasons in LEGO form, they wouldn't be able to do their funny handshakes with the standard lego hand.

So, three more Rebels sets to come in June, and so far we've only seen the Tie Vs A-wing set and the AT-TE, anyone care to speculate what the remaining set might be? The AT-DP, Ghost and Phantom got retired from last years wave

Probably the exclusive set with Ahsoka

Guys I promised myself I would only do LEGO from the new trilogy... I will stay strong to save my wallet... :ugh:

I've promised myself the same, but will make the final decision after seeing the RO sets.

So it comes out in may but no pics yet... I guess this means we have to see it at TF right?

Ooh wee, too excited!

Yes, please.

Agreed.

Haven't we already had one?

Yes, but there's always room for different versions, I'mhoping the new Wampa will feature the separate fingers as shown in the video.

I would trade some of those Hoth Base minifigs out for a tauntaun or two.

edited to add: I also hope the Han is not identical to the one we're already getting in Hoth Attack. I'd prefer the version without the parka.

I'll eat my hat if there are no Tauntauns included, again hoping for new prints/detailing even though the last ones were pretty good already.

Pass... Bring on the UCS Snowspeeder ;)

And no TaunTaun!? Very odd.

There will be.

Wedge Antilles is a nice surprise. Hopefully his head will have an alternative face print without the helmet visor. I also like the sound of the base having a modular design. It didn't look like it in the video but hopefully the delay did involve improving the design of the set.

Still disapointed there's no Hoth Leia though, especially with Han being included in both Hoth sets this year. Would have been nice to get her with leg printing and the 2015 face.

Unless they plan to release another smaller set soon based on Hoth to include Leia, Bacta Luke, etc then I'm assuming they will be included. If we use Ewok Village as a standard with it's 15 unique minifigures then even if we take five away because of the Wampa and Tauntaun that still leaves 10 minifigures to be included.

Bring on the Toy Fair!!!

This is good news :-)

LEGO® Assault on Hoth™ Base will Challenge Even the Most Skilled Fan Builders

Experienced builders can recreate the Rebel Force’s Echo Base from Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back in an unbelievably detailed recreation of one of the most iconic scenes in the original Star Wars trilogy. The 2,144-piece building set inspires fans to build their own scouting missions with the Snowspeeder, armed with twin spring-loaded shooters, and get back to base on the speeder bike to help Luke, Han and the other Rebel heroes. The modular design enables fans to customize their Rebel base configuration, including a Wampa cave and Wampa figure. The set features LEGO minifigure versions of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Toryn Farr, Wes Janson, Wedge Antilles, K-3PO, and more. Available May 1 for $249.99.

I likes.

I am wondering how this will classify as UCS however. I am still hoping for a play set. The video suggests this as does the range of minifigs and description..... It suggests play so this is a bit of conflict. The 10188 Death Star was a playset and UCS so I suppose this can happen.

Well, fingers crossed Ahsoka gets taken prisoner aboard a big imperial ship then :P (preferably an arquitens, am i boring anyone with this yet?)

The Ewok Village was as well.

So, this might be the chance for TLG to finally release a Snowspeeder that doesn't use the Y-Wing cockpit piece. The current Lego Snowspeeder design is 12 years old and stupidly inaccurate...

Haha good one. Like they would ever do that....

The rest of my hope has been crushed by this latest info about the Echo Base. A heavily segmented playset (probably exactly what we have seen in that short video just without the AT-ATs) that lacks visual quality as well as a coherent design for display :sadnew:

The press release makes no mention of it being part of the UCS line, sure this will fall in the same category as the Death Star and Ewok Village of a costly play set.

I guess if all the rumours are true then getting a Snowspeeder and the Death Star cover the two UCS sets per year. So maybe this is a D2C?

Just curious mate, but what were your hopes? It's hard to see how/why they would do anything other than a large minifig scale "playset"?

I think people were hoping for a set that they could open and close so it looks visually pleasing on a shelf. Similar to the Simpsons house.

Pretty sure this is a large play set and not UCS. Lego has been pretty consistent of including the gold UCS badge on the last few ships and I don't think we will see the badge on this.

Brickset says this is UCS -- Lego has not confirmed that. We should know more tomorrow when toy fair starts ;)

Valid observation. So far the UCS label has been applied by Brickset but nothing in the Press Release mentions it. That sounds more realistic as it sits more with the Ewok Village and Death Star.

I think this is just going to be THE Echo Base where they say goodbye to Hoth LEGO sets for a long time and focus on other possible builds in Star Wars.

Something like the 2nd Death Star? Focused on the display quality wihout any playfeatures like shooters and stuff. Something that can be opened like the Ghostbusters HQ with a fully detailed command room like we see it in the movie with some minifigures and maybe some outside fortifications or Ion Cannon if the part count wouldnt be too high already.

BTW: Normally I am not a fan of their heavily modulated set line up but in this case I think it would have been better if Lego would have excluded the Wampa Cave and even the Snowspeeder and purely focused on the Base itself.

I felt the same way yesterday after reading that it would be included since I already own 8089: Hoth Wampa Cave.

However, upon reflection, I think it's a good move on TLG's part.

It's been 6 years since 8089 came out and I'm sure there are plenty of people who missed out when it was on the shelves.

Let's be honest - it's also a bit annoying to see slightly modified snow speeders released every year.

But the reality is that they and any other Hoth sets sell well (with the possible exception of 7879: Hoth Echo Base).

Would I like to see a bigger/better interior to the base included in the new 75098: Assault on Hoth set?

Absolutely!

But I know a lot of people out there are probably very excited that they'll get their hands on a Wampa.

The one thing I'm disappointed in is that Leia isn't included.

Han and Luke are included but not her?

What a terrible omission - especially considering Han's already included in 75138: Hoth Attack.

The only way to get her now is either through Bricklink or as a keychain.

I hope TLG corrects that somehow.

Great set for those who have not been collecting Star Wars Lego for the past few years. It get you almost everything that has come out Hoth related, except large sets like the AT-AT. And the price is good for a licensed set; especially Star Wars.

Is it for collectors? Not so much. Again most people posting here (myself included) have everything that's in it, so this is more for new fans of Star Wars or Lego and with it being predominantly a limited shade of colors, it's easy for Lego to produce. Overall, a good move for them.

I fall into the new collector category with the AT-AT being my first set 2 summers ago. All I can say about this Echo base is meh... The Ewok village seems far more interesting and substantial.

I would have much rather gotten smaller sets to pick and choose how to build a base since they decided to go modular.

I realise the piece count is appropriate, but the sum of the parts just doesn't say £199.99 to me. I'm a bit underwhelmed, but would have happily paid just for the hanger door section without the wampa cave, 'trench' etc.

Maybe more images will be more complementary, but at the moment I'll be saving for the Death Star.

I'm not disappointed as I was not planning on buying the set anyways but I am disappointed its the outside of Echo base and not the actual base. That would've been really cool to have a modular base with numerous rooms that connect with tunnels. You could have still included a wampa cave and the main hanger, just no exterior trenches as we already have sets of those.
