DarkLordSauron Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 First off, the resistance X-Wing. It is literally the same design as Poe Dameron's X-Wing as far as I can tell. I've been clicking back and forth between the two images and can't tell a difference, other than the colors. To be blunt, it's absolutely shameful on Lego's part; trying to entice fans to buy the same set twice. As for Jakku, a $60 price puts it back on the table for me. I'm not sure I really want a Jakku set... but we'll see. The A Wing looks nice. Too bad it's 4 figs for $90. The Star Scavenger is an awesome $50 set/build imo! Too bad it's from a Lego tv show, not canon. The other Freemaker Adventures set, the Eclipse Fighter, looks cool and has nice figs. For $30-40 (Do we have the price? Did I miss it?), it's certainly in my sights, despite being a Freemaker Adventures set. As for Rex's AT-TE... 5 figs in a $130 set? Really? It's not like the scene didn't have other pertinent characters that could've been added. It's a cool build, but for something from Rebels with 5 figs, probably not. Overall, I'm less than impressed. Jakku may now be my favorite set in this wave. Quote
Panthro Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 (edited) Looks like another easy wave for me. Gotta have that TIE Advanced, but the Eclipse fighter looks kinda nice too. As for the Hoth set, wasn't interested in it anyway, but now I've seen the price and the kit itself, they can keep it. Edited February 13, 2016 by Panthro Quote
benderisgreat Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 (edited) Just saw close ups of Vaders TIE's cabin and it looks same as Inquisitors one from 2015. Still uses droids body as control stick, and doesn't seem to have any stickers or control panel pieces. Also new Tie look like it uses 2015 ones main cockpit part and builds up on it to make it appropriately bigger. Seems like some modifications are in order! The Eclipse is $30, making both of the Freemaker sets pretty good deals - no surprise given that they don't have the movie bonus like the TFA sets. The AT-TE might be the ugliest LSW set of all time, or at least a strong contender. Sure, it's supposed to look like that in the show, but it's still a bright, asymmetrical mess. No Ghost crew on there either - Zeb and Chopper are still one set exclusives, instead there's a Stormtrooper in there. The A-Wing stabilizers look a little off - doesn't look like the angle can be easily modded either. Still, the colors are gorgeous and Vader's Tie looks perfect (no surprise - the last two TIEs in 2015 were already very good). Quote

Unless they released him in a Tuanul massacre set, but that'd be a little too gruesome to depict in a LEGO set, wouldn't you think Speaking of Lor San Tekka, he's now the third SW character with that hairpiece in white Edited February 13, 2016 by Lego-Freak Quote

DarthPotato Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I thought Lor San Tekka had Aragorn's legs for a minute. As pointed out before, it's really funny how there's a fire extinguisher in that set. Please tell me the Jedi in the CTT have a differt face exprecion on the back?????? Don't worry, Quinlan and Luminara have neutral faces as well. I can't find them in pictures from this toy fair, but pictures from the Nuremberg toy fair showed their alternate heads. Quote
Dragonlego27 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Minifigure Close-Ups: https://www.instagram.com/brickalliance/?hl=en Thanks! Teedo looks absolutely adorable and even the Darth Vader mask looks better than it used to, although that's probably the angle. Although not very jedi-like, Quinlan and Lumerina's face prints are superb, and very likely double sided. I really hope the TFA price hike doesn't apply to the Rogue One sets too... Quote
DuckBricks Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 The new A-Wing looks amazing, and it's way better than any of the previous versions. Also, it's a neat way to get the new Vader helmet without having to get the meh Death Star Battle playset Quote

Neat! Congratulations, that's awesome! Is it just me or does Luminara also sport the new, softer type of cape? I think it's funny how some changes affect SW later than other themes (like the white dots in the eyes that were implemented in 2010 while other themes had them a lot earlier ) Quote

But yes, I see your point. They are pretty much the same ship. So why make another set for the same ship (but still different)? Lego had options for including Lor San Tekka in other sets. Kylo Ren's Command shuttle, namely. I wouldn't say it was worth $120. Had Lego wanted to, they could've included him there, but they didn't, I assume because they had plans for this set which will sell primarily for Lor San Tekka. Otherwise everyone would just buy Poe's. Do I think a Tuanul massacre set would be too gruesome for Lego? Yes... but all the little kids asking for any tFA set on the higher end of the price scale-- and getting it-- would've seen it in the movie, I'm sure. So... grey area. But I know a Jakku set with Kylo Ren, Tekka, Poe, and a few stormtroopers would have a far easier time winning me over than the one we're getting. Anyway, this set seems like it was made around Lor San Tekka. He's the selling point of the set for people not interested in a resistance X-Wing that has the same build as their Poe's X-Wing. If you really want another X-Wing, this is a good set. If you want Lor San Tekka... go for it. It just seems to me that Lego put no effort into this set and reused a design released six months earlier that they knew would still sell at least average for a character. Just my two cents. If you like the set, good for you. We all have different tastes. Thanks! Teedo looks absolutely adorable and even the Darth Vader mask looks better than it used to, although that's probably the angle. BigEl Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Minifigure Close-Ups: https://www.instagra...alliance/?hl=en Thank you. Nice to see that at least the Minifigures live up to the Sets. Poe and Lor San Tekka are great and make a nice line up for the X-Wing Set. Also very nice Jedi with impressive torso prints as well as a great Teedo Head Mold! If we would have gotten an exact copy of Darth Vader from the Final Duel Set, the TIE VS A-Wing Set would have been so much more interesting for me. Unfortunately I dont like the new torso print one pit and they just scratched the leg print again? Quote

As far as I can tell, the only thing that sets Poe's second X-Wing apart from the others is the colour For sake of consistency, it is indeed preferable that they didn't change the design too much. It would look awkward if two fighters that in "real life" should be the same bar the colours, would differ too much. But. There has been a fair bit of criticism about the design of Poe's fighter. And I agree with most of that criticism. The wings are not quite right and the nose to cockpit line is off. It is the reason I have been putting off buying that, more so when I heard that this new one was going to be released. I was really hoping they would have righted some of the "issues" with this new one. Especially since the LEGO design team has had plenty of time to study the craft as it appears in the movie. The fact that they didn't might be justified by the reason I mentioned above, but it also means I'm switching to plan B: try and buy the Poe one at a nice discount. Quote
Forresto Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Only sets i'm remotely interested in this year so far are the battle packs and the wonderful advent calendar. Does anyone know if the AT AT is still on sale on lego.com, its currently sold out, or if that run is over. I would rather buy that then the Hoth Assault UCS. Quote
ryan1584 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 There is definitely a market for a X-wing in alternate colors, when the black and orange was revealed a great number of people here posted they would not buy it due to the colors. Hopefully those posters were able to exercise enough restraint to wait for this one :) Quote

BigEl Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 The AT-AT is long gone. I had to buy one on eBay that was marked up significantly. Actually funny since I got the AT-AT on Amazon 2 - 3 weeks before it retired for its normal prices or even a small discout. The day it retired the price went up from 110 - 120 to 200 Euros instantly (similar story with the TFA Millenium Falcon though) Quote

Darn well i'll just wait for the next cycle to include one. The fact they make so many versions gives me hope but knowing my luck it wont be for another five years. :D maybe the next one will be a UCS At At. Now that I would buy in a heartbeat. Quote
Galactic13 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I'm actually quite relieved to have official information that the Freemaker show is indeed NOT based on any of the characters from the Aftermath books. But I do feel like the show is really needless since we have a current TV show as well as one move each year for the next five years. It made sense when we didn't have any new movies coming out, but now it is, IMO, needless. But hopefully they can eventually give us a Zuckuss and 4-LOM with this line since they have included Dengar in it so far. I wonder why they didn't have any of the official minifigs on display rather than the white placeholders? Quote
Delta66 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Correct me if I'm wrong, but everything except the movies, CW, and Rebels is no longer canon. Lego used to give us some old republic stuff, but they probably aren't allowed to now that it isn't canon. You are right, but TLG have proven that they aren't afraid to explore non-canon things. The shadow guard from 2015 battle pack is an example (the shadow stormtroopers are canon because of battlefront but not the shadow guard). Anyways, I would only hope for 1 set per year- just something like an old Republic sith battleship, with exar Kun and some massassi, or a set which includes darth krayt- basically something that would let TLG show that they care about older Star Wars fans. I'd hoped the yoda chronicles would be a one off, so it just annoys me to see Lego making these random builds when there's so much they could do (where the hec is the long overdue Tie interceptor!) JPN366 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 The A-Wing vs. T-Fighter set is awesome. First (generic) female pilot, EP IV Vader Torso, detailed Sabine Torso & finally Tarkin! But the set is 10 dollars more than usually & still misses Sabines helmet wth?! Not giving us the helmet in a 25 set is one thing, but this time TLG crossed the line. The A-Wing is very detailled - Vader's ship probably the most simple SW build in years. However I'm just happy that they didn't screw up with so much dark grey, like they did on all previous T's. So it's kind of perfect, just the back could have used a more advanced build. btw: Does anyone of u know why there are 2 rubber bands on the base of the A-Wing? Love the Eclipse. The first set of this price that uses such advanced building techniques. - The female Dark Side User wears a new soft cape (first ever in dark blue) & got some kind of faceprinting. Or she's an alien. Can u guys make out if she wears a mask on the second face? - Dengar is a huge improvement to the last version from the Executor. Even his speeder is nice. Splitted about the AT-TE - like Sabine theese figs just would have needed arm printing. Otherwise they look fine, but then again I miss Wolffe's hair & of course their helmets... Interior is not detailed at all, but like the exterior something u could upgrate yourself (like I "built" a sickbay, machine room & Vader's Room in the last ISD. Overal the wave is a step back from the great builds last year (except the Naboo SF). I'm just glad we got Vader's T with little dark grey, female pilot, Sabine & Tarkin in one set. They'll put Sabine with her helmet in another set, maybe the orange B-Wing or the yellow TIE Fighter as a set... I hope, I hope... Quote
