bootz Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 (edited) Well, of all the A-Wings appearing in Rebels, they did pick the ugliest colourscheme. Personally, I'm also still not a fan of so many curved bricks on an A-Wing: Combined with it looking a little wide (maybe 2 studs fewer?), it really dilutes the clear, sharp wedge shape the ship should have. And it seems that none of the people putting these sets together for display at fairs have bothered putting the engines and fins on right, because they're always canted way too far. IIRC, the engines and fins rotate on the model, so you could be seeing them at some point in the middle of its range of travel. As for the shape, I think the curved bricks capture the shape better than flat slopes. I find that my MOC A-wing looks better than the pervious official sets, though I might be a little biased. The width looks ok to me, the last official A-wing seems too narrow IMO. Also bear in mind that the Rebels A-wing is not the same design as ROTJ RZ-1s. As for the color scheme, I prefer the blue ones to the green. Here's mine: Edited February 19, 2016 by bootz Quote
x105Black Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 With the Assault on Hoth and Carbon Freezing Chamber sets, there seems to be a bit of a focus on the Empire Strikes Back. Maybe they will continue that with the May the 4th polybag release. If that's the case, maybe we'll get Willrow Hood. Or Lando. Quote
Forresto Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Wit the era of the prequels quickly coming to an end I sincerely hope we get one last really good unique prequel character like a Republic Commando that are pretty popular. EU wise I hope Thrawn. Chances are though now that I think about it theres a good chance it'll be one of the background/side characters from TFA that don't really warrant a set such as one of the aliens in Maz Kanata's cantina or one of the resistance officers. Maybe it'll be Hux in his regular non parade coat uniform or an actual Chrome Captain Phasma. It would be cool but unlikely if it's Supreme Leader Snoke. Quote

Aethersprite Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 FYI, the green A-Wing with the female pilot that comes with the Vader set was featured in this week's episode of Rebels, and... ...was destroyed within 5 seconds. This episode also featured TIE Bombers - here's hoping we see an updated version from Lego soon! Quote

I personally like the green color scheme the most, but that's just me.As far as it's accuracy, the width is actually perfect for minifigure-scale, same for the length. I think the engines make it look a bit wider than it should be, as they stick out way too far (seemingly to make room for the firing action), but the actual dimensions are perfect. An regarding the fins, the angle they're at in the displays is actually pretty close to the angle in Rebels. It might be a bit too extreme, but luckily it looks like the actual model allows for them to be given a more accurate angle. Quote

This episode also featured TIE Bombers - here's hoping we see an updated version from Lego soon! To be fair, ...A-Wings have been nothing but cannon fodder in Rebels - they don't seem to shoot down anything ever but get destroyed every time they're on screen. An updated TIE bomber would be great - in fact, I hope that with the new canopy piece (which is pretty much perfect) we will get updated versions of all the TIEs still missing (Bomber, Interceptor, OT fighter). Kim-Kwang-Seok Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Everything related to no-name soldiers in SW is cannon fodder Unfortunatly they don't have enough screen time to introduce the rebels a bit more. btw: Currently we have no news about the Rebels set including Ahsoka - by now we should've at least gotten some info about price, the build, minifigs etc. I'm starting to think such a set does not exist However there will be an exclusive set, probably again about 100 $ The Jedi temple from the next episodes would be awesome but very unlikely. Any ideas, other than an A-Wing or a B-Wing? Quote

Sneakguest Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 For me it's quite opposite a chrome phasma woulw really wasted, i dont like to get tons of different versions of some figures when there are so many not represented at all, so a san hill in imo would be a move in the right direction Quote
Squarefoot_Calrissian Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I really hope we get a system scale TIE Bomber! I would kill for a UCS version to go along with my TIE Fighter but knowing TLG I'll probably have to settle for system scale (if they even make that..) I really wish TLG would broaden there horizons and stop pumping out so many Hoth sets its like in the eyes of TLG Empire Strikes Back took place on Hoth and only Hoth.. So many great ideas can be pulled from Bespin alone and TLG would make a killing because AFOL's like me are gonna gladly open up our wallets and hand over our money Quote
Delta66 Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 why can't we have a mon calamari ship model to the scale of the 2014 star destroyer. It would be awesome cos you could use it for the alliance AND the new Republic, so for like the thrawn trilogy or something For me it's quite opposite a chrome phasma woulw really wasted, i dont like to get tons of different versions of some figures when there are so many not represented at all, so a san hill in imo would be a move in the right direction Thank you! I'm glad someone else wants a bit of variety. Also, don't forget a San hill muun head piece could be used for a custom darth plagueis! Quote

Beckmesser Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 why can't we have a mon calamari ship model to the scale of the 2014 star destroyer. It would be awesome Awesome as in a 1 meter long bumpy white Lego whale? Have you looked at the Calamari ship? They are pretty featureless, aside from ... hull bumps. The whole ship is a bump. Quote

I really don't mind the color they used for Phasma. LEGO never uses chrome for figures that probably should be (like 3PO), but they still look okay. I think the May the Fourth figure should be something that hasn't been done before. Quote
fighterpilot105 Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 (edited) Not sure if this was posted yet but here's the trailer for the upcoming Freemakers TV series: Edited February 20, 2016 by fighterpilot105 Quote
Robianco Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I write like the look of that. It's for kids and it'll have the usual slapstick comedy dotted about but that's kind of expected on a cartoon based on a toy aimed at 6-12 yr olds. The new female Jedi looks quite cool actually in her design and it being completely OT based is also promising with regards to the addition of other characters. With the potential for this, Rebels and Rogue One to add long overdue characters it's quite exciting to see act they'll bring us. Imagine if Rebels actually brought us a Ponda Baba or Dr Evazan figure while Freemakers gave us Zuckuss or 4-Lom along with Dengar? Quote

Forresto Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Well there is an Aqualish seen in the Force Awakens short that was released the other day, so you never know :) Yeah that's right there was and I think its the only thing in the short that is something that hasn't been made. It would be bit strange if everything in the vid was so accurate meanwhile they make up a single figure which I think would be a pain to render and animate. Ponda Fig Confirmed Conspiracy 2016 Quote
Agent Kallus Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 (edited) When I was eight and clone wars was released there was tons of Lego clone wars in just that year but in there release years tfa and rebels have gotten at lot less ,I guess its because they have to share but I wish that lego would give us less OT and PT stuff at the moment , I love both the OT and the PT don't get me wrong but most of what there doing is re-releases and being 16 I would rather just buy fig less sets off bricklink for cheap and spend the rest of my tiny budget on new stuff from new media with new characters or new stuff from old media ,I get that these things sell well hence there re-releasing and rehashing, but it is just unnecessary now that there is so much more out there (EU doesn't count as thing that was out there previously because thought there are some EU things I would love, most kids i.e there target market won't want them as much because they don't know it.).Also on an related note we need more Lando ,an although its really unlikely I want the may the 4th figure to be rebels Lando and for a proper bespin Lando in a new cloud city set or line of sets. Apologizes in advance if I have mixed up my theres I am dyslexic and spell check doesn't quite cover that. Edited February 20, 2016 by AgentKallus of Hydra Quote
Commander_Rob Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 IIRC, the engines and fins rotate on the model, so you could be seeing them at some point in the middle of its range of travel. The width looks ok to me, the last official A-wing seems too narrow IMO. Also bear in mind that the Rebels A-wing is not the same design as ROTJ RZ-1s. As for the color scheme, I prefer the blue ones to the green. Here's mine: Like, they rotate as a play feature? Interesting. In any case, it seems they haven't really been shown in their most flattering position. You're right of course about the difference between the Rebels and ROTJ A-Wings. Ordinarily the sides of the ship (white in the classic design) have curves, while the centre part (red) is a straight wedge, but Rebels makes that rounded as well. So perhaps curved bricks are more appropriate here than they have been before. Width though, I'm still not sure about. From the right angle, the movie ship is much slimmer than you'd otherwise give it credit for, but again Rebels changes things and makes it wider and flatter. (Which, just on the side, is curious because the McQuarrie design they nicked the colourscheme and guns from is actually sleeker and longer than the final one.) It's strange, on paper Lego seems to be doing the right things but I can't help thinking the actual model looks off. Anyway, I do like your MOC. It might be the colours, but it looks a lot more tied together than the set. Fewer studs probably help too. I personally like the green color scheme the most, but that's just me. As far as it's accuracy, the width is actually perfect for minifigure-scale, same for the length. I think the engines make it look a bit wider than it should be, as they stick out way too far (seemingly to make room for the firing action), but the actual dimensions are perfect. It might be a bit too extreme, but luckily it looks like the actual model allows for them to be given a more accurate angle. You may well be right about the engines, I hadn't picked up on that. Definitely too far apart, which ruins the ship's arrowhead shape a little. I wonder if that'll be possible to fix. The fins look fine on the box art, but at least in the photos I've seen from NY Toy Fair, they're much flatter than that, 45° or more. Hence me blaming the people building the sets, not the designers. But if engines and fins do rotate (Maybe for landing/putting the ship down? Can't spot any landing gear on it) that should indeed not be a problem. Quote
Robianco Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Yoda Chronicles basically gave us Momaw Nadon and the Imperial Protocol Droid and now Freemakers gives us a new Dengar. It's very possible. Quote
