Dragonlego27 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I'm actually quite impressed by Tarkin, as I don't have many imperial figures there's no chance for properly changing the torso (I can't be bothered to Bricklink one), and I'm not that bothered about the tan uniform, so I'll probably leave it as it is. I'm just happy we're getting an updated tarkin, especially after his novel convinced me he's one of the coolest characters in the SW universe. Having seen more pictures I realise I actually quite like this set, so will probably pick it up in the Autumn time when hopefully it'll be a bit reduced. Quote
eldiano Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Dammit, now we have to wait for an OT version of Tarkin, I was banking on his suit to be light grey than tan. Probably will just order it from Pick a Brick/Missing Pieces on Lego. Quote

Another A Wing (the rumor) doesn't seem super strange if you consider that Rebels is basically only using A Wings for Pheonix Squardon so far. I'm hoping for a blue one and a green one - of course you gotta wonder just how many A-Wings a Star Wars Lego collection may need? Wow - I just realized that the A Wing vs Advanced TIE will have a 50/50 gender split. Very impressive. Back when Star Wars Lego started you'd wait years to see a Padme or a Leia! Now they're pumping out nameless females. Edited March 13, 2016 by darththeling Quote

Wow - I just realized that the A Wing vs Advanced TIE will have a 50/50 gender split. Very impressive. Back when Star Wars Lego started you'd wait years to see a Padme or a Leia! Now they're pumping out nameless females. The main reason for this is probably that we see much more females (in better roles) since Rebels & TFA. That's great for me, since I try to retain my 50/50 rebel army. Another A-Wing in one wave? Don't forget, it would even be 85 % the same colour, they'd just swap the dark green parts out with blue. Plus - this new A-Wing has much more parts, it would cost around 40$. Buying both - this and Vader's overpriced 90$ set seems like a very bad deal. There just so many interessting sets they could make: 1. Ketsu's ship - awesome design, great bounty hunter figure, around 100-120 $ 2. grey/blue blockade runner - didn't get one of those for like 10 years. However very unlikely since it would have to cost 150$. 3. Red B-Wing - this would've at least a different colour (not just different markings) and a slightly different design than the last one. 4. fandom set: small build of the Jedi or the Sith temple ( ). Fives Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I still can't get over how badly they screwed up on that Tarkin minifig. Dark tan and grey? What character were they watching, because every time we see Tarkin he is clearly wearing a grey uniform and has silvery-white hair. The Doctor's hairpiece suits him, but in light grey. Also, I find that the Mandarin head from the Iron Man 3 sets is awesome for an OT Tarkin. This new Rebels figure is almost a deterrent for me in terms of getting the set. Quote

It's not exactly the same color as LEGO's dark tan, but it's as close as they can get. Dark grey would be just as inaccurate. And the hair on the top of his head is dark grey. Kman860 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 (edited) Well to me that actually looks dark olive/olive drab, maybe some colours from Indiana Jones officers might have worked better, maybe like this https://www.google.c...458090166648633, but a touch darker. Forresto Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Perhaps but it still looks so wrong and the color isn't nearly as grating on the show. It's bothersome Quote
Japanbuilder Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 This version of Sabine is spot on to her Rebels season 2 outfit, so black arms are perfect choice. Overall this version of Sabine is much better than her season 1 minifigure from 2015. I am so stoked for this set. Tarkin aside it will be cool to have these figures and vehicles (though they will cost me more than 90$ here). Now I just need them to release a small set with Zeb and Ill be happy! Got Hera in a micro fighter, going to get Kanan from his speeder, Ezra and Chopper from the Phantom, that will leave Sabine and Zeb as the last of the pack! Common LEGO start pumping out more of these! Quote

General Magma Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 (edited) I don't understand the logic in changing colours for variants (updates, rather) of existing figures just because the uniform looks slightly dark tan-ish on the show, even though it's the exact same uniform as he and the Imperial officers wear throughout the original trilogy. It should've been dark bluish grey, the decision to make the Imperial officer uniforms dark tan makes no sense. To anyone familiar with the original Star Wars, Imperial officers are known to wear dark grey uniforms, and they never exactly looked dark tan to me in any of the Rebels episodes, honestly. DarthHank Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I dislike this color, but it's no worse than anything else TLG has done. Because of how they look in the show (arguably), Clone Wars figures are given giant eyes, even though they don't have eyes like that in the movies. This is no different. In both cases TLG exaggerated slight differences from the movies. I don't care, though; it just provides a different tint for the collection. And Tarkin's old torso holds up; its only fault is a lack of back printing; so if you like the new head you can just put it on the old torso. Quote
Raskolnikov Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 And Tarkin's old torso holds up; its only fault is a lack of back printing; so if you like the new head you can just put it on the old torso. Although its not too bad, the dark blush gray Tarkin torso seems a little out of place when placed next to newer minifigures. The front printing on the more recent Imperial officer torsos is noticeably sharper and of better quality. The rank insignias on the newer torsos also have a black border that makes them stand out, and the dark bluish gray Tarkin does not. I'm still excited for the new Tarkin figure, though, because I'm always happy to receive new Imperials. I do wish it was in dark bluish gray, though. The color of the uniforms in the movies is a kind of olive gray, and I think the uniforms are roughly the same color in Rebels. I am not convinced by the above pictures that they're intended to be tan in the show. I think LEGO just thought (correctly) that the dark bluish gray is not strictly accurate because the uniforms have more of a greenish/yellowish gray, so they decided to vary it a little and try dark tan with the Rebels versions of those figures, that's all. I just think the dark bluish gray was closer and the inconsistency can be annoying. Quote
The Sarge Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 It's annoying, yeah, but remember we have Rouge One coming up, which is set about the same time and centered on the Death Star plans, so another DBG Tarkin is possible within a year. At the very least I expect more new - style Imperial in DBG. Quote
