Darth Malgus Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Bet you guys would love if it was OT stormie instead., You guys say lego never makes enough of those. they must have seen your guys posts but thought OT was FO I think you're right. I actually think this is a good exclusive... It looks like there may be a back pack on it, I blew the image up and it looks like they are wearing something similar to the snowtroopers back pack. Quote
Markalus Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 A little late to this, but the word "Exlusive" being used to describe a regular stormie with a pocket forces my hand. But worth it for the IT crowd GIF... I actually think this is a good exclusive... It looks like there may be a back pack on it, I blew the image up and it looks like they are wearing something similar to the snowtroopers back pack. This was mentioned a couple of pages back.... This just in: The Tile on the May the 4th "Exclusive" Minifigure's back is printed with a middle finger. Quote
Gadzooks Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Oh don't get me wrong. The podrace is fantastic. Oh how I miss Episode I: Racer. Personally, I would have preferred a Special Forces TIE Pilot. Which isn't so far fetched, considering the "exclusiveness" of the heavy trooper. Quote
Brickweiser Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 A little late to this, but the word "Exlusive" being used to describe a regular stormie with a pocket forces my hand. Well we were warned that it would be Malibu Stacey with a new hat. This is definitely the stormtrooper equivalent :D Quote
Jayoheazy Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 This just goes to show how little Lego really cares about what people think. 'Feed them dirt and they'll still ask for butter. Muahahahaha' Quote
duboismerci Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 (edited) This is going to be a great May the 4th sale. Double vip which turns out to be 10% off, a not exclusive exclusive. They will also put 2 or 3 30$ set an additional 15% off. For the last 2 year the sales have been worst then the year before. I believe Lego can surpass themselves and do an even shittier sale this year. #believe #Lego2016 side note: In Canada, prices are the same at TRU and the Shop@home. TRU has 20% during May the fourth while Lego offers nothing. The ONLY reason you would buy on the Shop@home would be for the exclusive minifigure... Buy the first order Bp 20% off at TRU so you don't have to spend 75$ for that minifigure on the shop@home. Edited March 24, 2016 by duboismerci Quote
YellowCorvette Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Yeah, the May the 4th Stormtrooper is nice, but it's very disappointing since there's more unique and better characters that can been choose as a May the 4th promotional minifigure. Even the First Order general poly bag is slightly better than this for the unique arm printing on the minifigure. Quote
LegoFjotten Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 The figure looks nice enough, but as a May 4th exclusive it is certainly disappointing. Any other month of the year I would probably have though it was a pretty decent promo. Upside: no need to buy SW sets at close to full price from S@H to get it. Quote
hachiroku Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 (edited) Is this supposed to be the figure? No. That one appears in the battle pack. It's the stormtrooper gunner. I can't find any reference of the exclusive one in the movie. Edited March 24, 2016 by Lobot : Please don't quote images, thanks :-) Quote
Ceroknight Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I too am surprised about the May 4th minifigure, but i also find this situation kind of funny. For years fans have been complaining every time an exclusive minifigure was announced saying it wasn't fair that they're releasing something that's not widely accessible and how expensive the minifigure will be on the aftermarket. There are comments after comments that goes "Oh gosh, I hope it isn't (insert random Starwars character/ Superhero), he/she totally be released in a set!" The stormtrooper really just seems like Lego is listening, but who knows, maybe it's just bad promotional minifigure. Quote
GallardoLU Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I think the main problem is that while people want to be able to chose sets to get important but non-core characters they also still want May 4th promo to be something that wouldn't have possibly shown up in a set otherwise. Revan although an EU/Legends character was a huge hit over all, as many knew there was no way to get him otherwise and probably never will be. while this trooper is so very close to the ones available already that it feels like Lego said "hey we have way too many troopers lying around lets use that one with the extra pocket and give that out" its because of that vibe people are unhappy. the quality of the figure looks great, just I don't think he should be the years big promo. Quote
jdm44 Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Total garbage but not surprising. LEGO wants to save the actual exclusive TFA minifigures for expensive sets. Quote
eric729 Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 If they were just going to give us a stormie with a small change in printing, they could of at least gave us Finn with the blood mark on his helmet. Quote
pittpenguin123 Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I may be only person here who likes this polybag. Nice fig for free. Also his torso print is new - he has pockets on left strap. I like it. I think you're right. I actually think this is a good exclusive... It looks like there may be a back pack on it, I blew the image up and it looks like they are wearing something similar to the snowtroopers back pack. Yah if this was OT not many would complain Quote
HawkLord Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 The figure itself is not terrible, it's just not May 4th worthy. And it certainly pales in comparison to other upcoming promos, like the classic Mr. Freeze the DC fans are getting in April. Quote
tafkatb Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 So then where does Old Luke fit in? Probably in Episode VIII. Quote
Schneeds Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I won't lie, last year's Admiral Yularen was a motivating factor in picking up 75055. I know there are a lot of people like me who want to fill out the Death Star conference room table. That's a great kind of fig to have: not a major must have, but a nice supporting one that dedicated fans would love. Given there's a new Death Star soon to be released, they could have gone that route again. Quote
Galactic13 Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Now that I've recovered from crying over this travesty.... Did anyone notice the new marketing on the bag to signify it as a May 4th exclusive? It's similar to the label they started adding to the UCS sets. IMO this is a pretty weak fig to implement the label on. Quote
HawkLord Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 So then where does Old Luke fit in? Probably not till Episode VIII or next year's May 4th? There's really no logical set to put him in, unless Lego wants to make the cliff-side staring match with him and Rey. Quote
nymmerod Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I like the exclusive stormtrooper. So there. I'll gladly pick one up in May and enjoy having a little variety in my army. Quote
slenos Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Do we have any idea which UCS set will be retired to make room for the new Hoth one? Quote
Brickr Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 (edited) There have been a few comments identifying this (below image) stormy on Jakku as the May 4th exclusive minifigure. Yes he has a backpack, but the ammo packs on the left shoulder are missing, so not this guy either. Although I agree a more exciting character could/should have been chosen, I really like this variation and will definitely be picking him up.
