montgocloud Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) He is neutral. True, in the Star Wars universe, Boba Fett is neutral. But in the context of the story, he plays the role of a secondary villain. He is a villain for all intents and purposes in LEGO's eyes. I don't think they care about all the semantics surrounding the morality of bounty hunting. In the carbon freeze scene, Fett is a villain. He is included in the set based off this scene. Therefore, a secondary villain is being included in a smaller set (but Fett has been included in a swath of smaller sets over the years, so I don't see how this changes anything). Some say that big villains come in small sets, yes in the pure Canon universe, he is portrayed as a villain, but as a secondary one. If Boba Fett is Cool (No doubt he is) that doesn't mean he is a big villain. Quote

Bantha Fodder Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) OK, as for the rumored OT sets, I think they are pretty promising. No, we didn't get a big Cloud City set, but this smaller set makes it more likely we'll see another Cloud City set with more of the main caracters in Bespin outfits. (Bespin Lando, Leia, Luke etc.). AND: We have now got an exotic alien species that's previously unreleased (Ughnaut) Furthermore, I have a sneaky suspicion that we'll get a new design for the jawas in the escape pod set. There was a jawas in the advent calendar, witch often is the case for retiring minifigs. And hulk_smash said the two jawas in the escape pod was the same type. That is not very likely, and could mean they were just placeholders. I am also hoping we'll get a new backpack for Boba Fett, since it's been the same design for ages... Can't wait for the pics to emerge Edited September 1, 2015 by Bantha Fodder Quote

There were 2 variants in the sand crawler - I guess that's what we'll see in the new escape. I for one couldn't be happier! I was considering getting multiple advent calendars , removing the jawas and stormies then selling them rest on just to get more jawas. A couple of droid escapes could do the job! Quote
Regimus Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 A multicoloured molded or printed jetpack is a possibility I hadn't thought of. Hopefully, then. Quote
Lego Fett Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Yes, a Gun Metal Gray pack with olive printing and details. Quote
CelceBricks Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Yes they are, however I'm not sure if the are OT or Rebels. Thanks so much for the info! Any idea on when we will see pictures of the sets? Quote
CelceBricks Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Agree with Dark Caedus on this one, I am. Strategically placing the most popular minifigures within the hugest sets is a more efficient way to sell what could not have been sold well otherwise. Imagine a 60$ ship, tank or whatever with everything but a known Jedi, and I know there are some, well I think they didn't get easy money on that one, even if the ship design itself is revolutionary. That's how powerful hollywood icons are. The Republic Fighter Tank back in 2008 had only two clones that were equal to each other, retailed for 50€ and did sell very well! Quote
Darth Caedus Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 The Republic Fighter Tank back in 2008 had only two clones that were equal to each other, retailed for 50€ and did sell very well! Early Clone Wars sets are kind of an anomaly, and for the most part there were more misses than hits. The overpriced V19, the Magnaguard Starfighter - there's a clear progression where it's obvious Lego picked up on the fact that these bigger ships/vehicles could never sell that well on their own with just the pilots that would have come with them in the canon, so we saw the beginning of the trend that now is the rule: sets packed with additional desirable characters not directly relevant to the vehicle. You never see big $50+ sets with 1 or 2 figures anymore. Bossk with Slave I, Kit Fisto with ARC-170, Watto with the 2015 Infiltrator, the list is huge. In fact, you can see that this is a definitive policy shift. The last non-UCS set to be $40 or more with 2 or fewer figures was the 2010 TIE Defender, now half a decade old. All mid-range and larger sets must have at least 3 figures, this has clearly become a rule for the Lego SW design team. Quote
Zzz Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Thank you for all the info on the sets, Hulk_Smash! May I ask about the Hoth set - it will probably have a turret - will it be the huge cylindrical type or the smaller dish-shaped one? And will it have a Tauntaun? Not to fall into rant mode, but it's a bit sad we're getting the 3rd Droid Escape when there were really nice opportunities like a Cloud Car redesign to be made. And while I'm looking forward for the Bespin set like the next guy, the sparsity of the included minifigures makes it clear that this should have been a Final Duel-like playset with several areas from Cloud City and 8 minifigures for 100$. Having said that, perhaps it's in the making and we see it in 2017. Rant over and happy to see the new sets! Quote
Robianco Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Yes, a Gun Metal Gray pack with olive printing and details. If they just do a copy of the Arealight Fett pack that would be fine. I picked one up to complete my 75060 Fett with the EE-3 Carbine. Quote

I think it's a nice set. Since R2 and C-3PO aren't in FA sets this wave, we can get them for cheap and the first Jawas in sets under like $300. Quote

CDFCustoms Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 The september set list mentions a snow speeder, so I thought that it would have Hoth. There is no hoth its a unnamed (so far) planter where the FO base is located Quote
FrenchLegoBoy Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) The Republic Fighter Tank back in 2008 had only two clones that were equal to each other, retailed for 50€ and did sell very well! This one and all the others Clone Wars movie-based sets were backed up by the hype. Furthermore, the TCW clones were new and unique at that time, explaining to me why it sold well. Nowadays like Darth Caedus said, you won't find anything like this, because the minifigs make the sets, not the opposite. Edited September 2, 2015 by FrenchLegoBoy Quote

I'm not worried about Bespin because we'll surely get another kit from Bespin in the next year or two, there's SO many locations there that you could make. Personally I'm hoping it turns out to be the rumored 500 dollar Feb set. Though I was mapping out some concepts for a 500 mega-playset with tons of figures and places that would also work great would be the Theed Palace (so many unmade Episode I figures), the Geonosian Arena or Jedi Temple (Jedi galore), or a huge Jabba's Palace or Mos Eisley Spaceport (more than enough characters to fill out a 500 dollar set in either location). Though Bespin would actually be a great battle pack - a door with a terminal, 1 Bespin Guard, 2 Ugnaughts, 1 classic Stormtrooper with heavy blaster damage/scoring (a long-needed figure and a perfect place to put it since a lot of Stormies get shot up there). Killer BP too - kids get cute Ugos and some dynamic characters, casual adults love Empire, AFOLs get all the Ugos they can devour, and Lego saves money by getting away with a battlepack with 2 shortleggers. Although I would love a battlepack like this (Ugnaughts!) I have one problem with the set: the lone stormtrooper. Lego have not usually had three figures of one faction and one of the other in a battlepack. Unless the Bespin Guard and stormtrooper pick on the stormtrooper XD Quote
